We need to continue to see this from him, especially when playing along side AD and Bron (two of those games were with one them out) i think he knows he has to step up when they're out, so it's mindset related. it's just as important to be battling and boxing out when everyone is available. At his size, there is no reason for him to not average 8 RPG.
i like that the coaching staff has been challenging him to get on the boards. it has been a big hole in his game given his size. i'd be curious to see if it's just being mindful of rebounding or if it's part of some overall growth in general court awareness.
Rui, Dlo and Lebron are the LA splash bro's. OK maybe not but it's good to have players defy the George McCloud curse and hit over 40% from 3. I think the last time we had 3 guys hit over 40% from the was 2008 or something with Fish, The Machine, and Space Cadet.
Rui is really the key for this team imo .. If he could play/use his size on BOTH ends off the floor on a regular basis , the 3 headed monster he would form with Bron and AD would be too much to handle for opponents
There’s no reason he can’t play similar to Aaron Gordon on defense- he’s got a big body and is athletic enough.
Rui is going to be the X-factor once again for us in the playoffs. Him being another big body, playing D, and hitting his shots on offense is a huge boon to our team. His 15-18 points a game in the playoffs will be key for us to make a deep run like we did last year.
Really enjoyed his stints playing bully ball in these last two. He (as did Bron and AD) just went into stretches of feast mode against two small lotto teams and man, that's fun. Having a guy with his kind of shot diet who can also guy out muscle you at the rim is a rare combo.
We’re 2-9 when Rui plays under 19 minutes, and 35-17 when he plays 19 or more minutes. Credit to Jovan Buha’s YouTube channel for this stat.
Nah,I’ve been told this is all just a false narrative. We wouldn’t have won any more games with Rui starting or playing starter’s minutes instead of Prince.
