Needs to either start or playing 30 minutes per game Basically, we need to swap his mpg with Prince's mpg and we're good
rui's a tough case for me. he's not really making his case for more minutes with his play. neither is prince, of course, but i'm guessing ham remembers that rui responded to a benching last year--didn't he go on a tear after getting a dnp-cd or something? iow, i wonder if rui loses focus when things come too easily to him. that said, maybe, like dlo, he'll respond when he's given a bigger opportunity. i do think his offense will improve with more minutes/reps/rhythm, though.
Well then start him over Prince or at least give him a lot of his minutes and start Vando. We paid a lot to keep these guys and they should be playing.
Pincus also said in his article yesterday we don't want to move him. Irwin said the team likes him a lot and wants to keep him if they can. He really likes being a Laker and that has currency.
either posturing or we're not making any major moves. this is fine by me, but dlo on his own or plus gabe isn't doing much. rui has to be in any deal of major consequence.
Ham the idiot wants a true underdog story to make him feel good about how he helped less talented athletes make it in the NBA like the scrub that he was. Suck it hatas
probably the only downside to the game was that rui continues to be just a guy. i was hoping he'd take a step forward this season, but he hasn't at all. maybe it's the injuries or the prince effect, but i expected more.
I thought he settled too much on the 3 ball that wasn't there. When he didn't, his drives were successful. Unless Grant Williams or Powell were on him, he's too big and physical for what they threw at him. He let them off easy
Meh I think Rui is a gunner who doesn't rebound and is a so so defender. He's got to be absolute lights out from 3 (ie Memphis series) to make that work for the team. I don't get it he has the body to dominate the glass and set vicious screens but he just doesn't do those little things. Could see why Wizards fans got really frustrated with him. He just doesn't seem to play to the level of what his physical talent can be enough He's a nice piece to have for certain matchups but I dont this he is going to be a core guy that you build around.
Some guys actually need more than spot minutes on the floor to be effective. That’s all he’s received so far this season. Last year, with regular minutes, he looked great. I do agree that he should be a better defender and rebounder with his size. Maybe he just needs a coach who can inspire him?
Yasuke has been hurt a lot, he misses games and is on minute restrictions once he comes back. The problem is that once he gets off of minutes restrictions, he gets hurt again. This Rui stuff is also kind of a red herring IMO. Going back to his last season in Washington, his minutes have been consistent (22-23 mins a game) and he's actually improved his shooting from the floor, 3pt line, and assists this season, the only dip has been in rebounds. I'm not seeing this huge Rui problem, the thing with him, is that elevates his game during the playoffs. That's the type of player that you want in your team. The reality though, is that he's never really killed it during the regular season here or in Washington.
Ham hates him. It's that simple. Back to back 100% games. But our very only Tony f***ing Snell can't be leapfrogged no matter what.
