Maybe Prince is when we get everyone back, but we can't wait that long. This year's Austin isn't last year's Austin yet. Whether it's Team USA play, injuries, role, 5 out offense... he hasn't been close to energy, productivity, engagement, or effectiveness on either end. If we're not going to rest him, maybe have him come off the bench for a stretch will help. It didn't click with Rui until he got yanked from the rotation. Maybe players are too comfortable in their role. Right or not, we can't afford to pull DLO because he's our only PG.
We need some kind of change. Our starting lineup is -17.2 on the year so far. Not working. Switch up something.
I'm a firm believer in if you want people to hustle, play defense and rebound involve them in the offense. This five out crap has too many players just standing around watching which bleeds into everything else.
Idk..these guys just have to make their shots. We force up way too many bad perimeter shots in most of our games IMO. Lebron, I can live with that, but D'Angelo and Austin, and sometimes Prince are taking too many bad shots. Darvin is giving them too much of a greenlight, IMO.
It compounds when I don't think there's a clear pecking order after our first two options, resulting in some role confusion. To make it worse, we're not getting out in transition, not getting stops and aren't good enough on the glass. If you're starting most plays by inbounding it under the opposing basket then you're not getting enough advantageous offensive sets.
Some of it is the details. If a player is standing with his hands out 10-15 seconds and finally gets a pass even though he is wide open it is different than shooting a shot within the motion of an offense. A player moving instead of standing is more apt to rebound. The same goes for being active on defense. Basketball is best when in motion. Sometimes the solution is simple.
word. can't remember who posted it, but there were some clips of AD post ups where just...nobody moved. the defense sent a second guy, and everybody just hangs out. it's awful. ball and player movement. and i really don't like the 5 out. i honestly don't love the 4 out.
why was coaching in the playoffs so much different than the regular season. I know we want to blame RB for the issues last year, but it seems like there are patterns emerging that cannot be ignored.
How come Cranjis seems to be just standing around not involved this year like the players on the floor in Ham’s offense? He was beside himself last year with all the alleged new plays and offense he was seeing.
To be fair..it's not much different than the give the ball to Lebron, or AD, and everyone rotates around the 3 pt line offense, under Vogel. Nobody was hurt and missing games in the playoffs. ( Well Lebron wasn't at 100%) That was the longest stretch that Lebron and AD had played together since the bubble. It's not really all that complicated with the Lakers.
I think that is also an oversimplification. You can't always rely on everyone being healthy in order to have good rotations and game plans. Besides that stretch, it really seems like Ham has been an abysmal game manager. I'd love it if that was all it was, but good coaches adapt. I don't see that happening at all.
It doesn't work like that, for the Lakers with Lebron though. We haven't consistently, won many games without Lebron and AD, both playing period.
He and Cam changed the energy in the 4th. He was huge for us in the final stretch. Wish we would've found more than 20 minutes for him out there.
I feel like I'm finally seeing the Rui I liked so much last year again! Some great defensive plays out there and some clutch shots. I still think I'd like to see him as a starter for a change. Prince has underwhelmed me.
Yeah, Ham has to get him on the floor more. BUT I don't think Rui could've defended KD as well as Prince did and definitely can't slot him down on Beal. 33 minutes is high for Prince on an 0-4 from 3 night, especially when Rui is locked in. Would've liked to see 5 of those minutes go to Rui earlier in the game.
