Rui Hachimura Discussion: Knee Strain?

I don’t think it’s Rui, it’s MPJ who is like bull when he sees the Laker jersey and hits everything

 

Rui isn't a good "chaser" on screens; he doesn't navigate them well. Sucks, but it is what it is. As the other dude said on the previous page, it's a matchup issue.

 

Rui will never be a good defender, just like many other of our players.
It’s a shame, because he has the size to be a decent one.

 

Playing himself right to the bench, and has no one to blame but himself.

 

Playing himself into another jersey, I think. If you’re not going to defend and rebound, I’m playing knecht.

 

Like I said in the DK thread, I'll give him 2-3 more games to see if he finds his groove again but yeah... not looking good. He's been hanging out with Gabe too much.

 

How can a guy so physically imposing bring so little physicality?
Really wish he would play like he does with Japanese national team - different animal there. Fought hard

 

I like Rui, but if we can upgrade the team by him going out, I’ll understand.

 

I feel more and more like I like the idea of Rui moreso than the actual player on our squad. If he was able to concentrate on crashing the boards, playing defense and in general being tougher out there, he would be like 2x as valuable as he is. I like him, but won't miss him, I am actually looking forward to seeing him average 20+ on another team.

Interesting. That might matter in terms of trade candidates and at the very least, who will stick in the starting group.

i think the thing that's really sticking out to me is that the starters need someone very athletic out there with them, and rui's not really that. so if rui is going to be starting with AD and lebron, then whomever is with reaves better be athletic. problem is reddish and christie are our only athletic perimeter players (since vando died), and they carry their own issues. IF we love rui and want to keep him, dlo or reaves (yikes) is going to have to move for someone with some athleticism on the perimeter, imo.

and i'm still open to clearing a roster spot and signing dsj or fultz (if his health checks out).

Doesn't seem he's going anywhere unless some deal comes along that's just too good to pass on.

 

Makes sense to want to hang on to your young guys on decent contracts.
