But it has to be an IF, we are trying to win a ring and that still goes through OKC. So Rui has to prove he can be a critical part of competing with OKC.

Defensively, he is going to be on a combination of Chet, Jaylin Williams, Dort and Caruso/Wallace. He needs to stop his guys, with the big one being Chet. It's a huge series for him and if he does well it could be the difference between being an over or under the cap team. It's not a small decision.

I get that. But my point, and could be wrong, is that I don’t see Mark Walter as an owner letting HARD to come by unique talents already here and having proven themselves under the glare of the Lakers spotlight (Reaves, Hachimura, Kennard, Smart, even Ayton) …. get away. Whatever it takes. You ADD to that core wherever the winning formula slots them later each season on the team depth chart.
