It just hit me. In 17 months, Rob and Magic took the Lakers out of cap hell, management hell and a no hope future and brought the Lakers within ONE more salary dump and one more star from winning titles in bunches again. It is crazy.
I can only imagine what Paul George might be thinking. He could have been here right now, ready to win titles.
I really hope someone brings up the Kawhi fiasco and if we're still speaking to the spurs about a trade.
Rob's conference was about what you'd expect. He read from the Alchemist, said some great things about LeBron. The real interesting stuff was about how we built our roster and how he feels like trying to shoot with Golden State is a "trap". It's something we've now heard echoed from Rondo as well. I love that they're thinking outside the box on that front. He also pointed out that we've got some shooters in house and while they may not be "specialized" shooters (Korver), they're players who can shoot. He specifically shouted out Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as players more than capable of shooting and of course LeBron James. edit- OH! And Bill Oram asked if Rob was a little disappointed in how maybe... some other meetings did or did not happen in FA. Subtle. Rob gave a little smile and laugh and said basically that the Lakers feel great about where they are now. They were prepared for every contingency and so when certain players made their decisions, the Lakers weren't held up on it. He said they feel absolutely blessed to be where they are with this roster.
Yeah not a lot of new information, just putting everything we've heard in recent tidbits all put into one press conference.
The press conference today wasn't bad but I thought yesterday's Connected with Magic and Rob was a lot better, had more juicy details. If anyone hasn't already I suggest you watch that entire episode or check out my in depth summary. Both the video format and my summary are in the this thread and Magic's
Interesting to note that Rob said that one of the factors that led Lebron to signing in LA, was that HE WANTED to play with the young talent we have.
When asked about p**** P.... Rob said he does not count losers pertaining to Free Agency and have 100% gratitude having the current roster, I'm paraphrasing..
After hearing this video, if everything is true, then I haven’t been this excited since we were up 3-1 on Orlando with 2 minutes left in game 5 with the lead. I’ve always wanted to have a team constructed like this. Toughness, Defense, High Basketball IQ, Versatile. My gosh it’s like they looked at my NBA 2k18 MyCareer. Things are looking very nicely and like Magic alluded, I wish the season could start right now. Oh and I guess I’m okay with LLLLLLebron being here. I said that if he takes a back seat and not do what he’s always done then I might could root for him, but he better not revert back if/when things aren’t going well. I’ll definitely be one of the leading lynch mobsters if he does.
time to swoop in on Tor for Leonard with Deng and a few 1st, maybe give em Wagner if we're feeling generous lol
