^ yup. None of this picks will be better than Max... and he still won't see the court this season. It is what it is, there's still time left. Would be great to have a training camp and preseason with a "set roster" though.
Sam Vicenie’s rating for The Athletic of all the teams’ draft results had this for the Lakers. “Grade: B L.A. Lakers • Selected Jalen Hood-Schifino (17th)• Acquired Maxwell Lewis (40th) from Indiana for No. 47 and cash It was another solid draft for the Lakers. Throughout the years, the organization under assistant general manager Jesse Buss has been known for evaluating players well, and this year was no different. The Lakers took Hood-Schifino at No. 17, a player I had at No. 15. It’s a strong fit moving forward for the organization both within its short- and long-term goals. Hood-Schifino is a very strong defensive player both on and off the ball. He’s physical and tough at 6-foot-5 as a lead guard with a 215-pound frame. His pairing with Austin Reaves, who thrives more defensively away from the toughest assignment while being able to be smart rotationally off the ball, should work well. Hood-Schifino might not be ready to play from day one if his shooting from distance doesn’t improve, but I think it will long term, and I buy him as a good rotation player. Lewis was perceived to be a faller during the draft, but that wasn’t really the case. Few people within team circles saw him as likely to go in the first round. Still, I love the flier from the Lakers here, as Lewis is 6-foot-6 in shoes with a 7-foot wingspan and real athleticism. The issue for him is that he doesn’t really defend and doesn’t pass at a high level right now. You’re just acquiring him hoping the shooting translates while the rest of it comes in waves. Still, it’s hard to find players this big with this much shooting potential. Lewis is a really good pick as a player I had ranked No. 35 on my board. I also loved the team’s immediate post-draft pickup of Colin Castleton. A 6-foot-11 center out of Florida, I thought he was among the most valuable, underrated players in college basketball this past season. I had him ranked in my top 45 and think he should have been drafted. I bumped the Lakers up a bit because of his signing.”
And the hits keep coming in free agency! Rob is freaking killing it with the talent for the dollars spent. Look at that Prince get for the BAE, out of nowhere, Vincent same thing, Reddish same thing and now Rui’s locked up for a very reasonable contract. …. and all the Lakers hating fools will probably give him a C+ for the off season.
This is all really good, I applaud him, but… we have no backup center. Please do something about it and we’re set.
Ahahahah I absolutely see this being written Yep, any analysis depends on the big. There's plenty of options still available, so let's see what he does
The more this lingers, the more I think we're either looking for a S&T, or possibly, our offer wasn't what DLo's camp was anticipating. If we gave him a respectful offer it would be done by now, IMO.
I think we are trying to get him for cheap and he isn't feeling it so he wants to see the market. Our plan is probably to wait to see the market dry on him for anything above the MLE and pay him around 15M. I hope lol
yeah, that's what i mean. SA's not coming through with the offer, and the market is otherwise dried up, right? if he was signing for 2/40 or less, we'd know already.
If it was a S&T, who would realistically be out there for his services? Miami immediately comes to mind, but not sure he's someone Riley would target. They've lost Vincent, Strus, and rumors were swirling about stretching Lowry. They may have to gun for him. I know they've made some moves recently. Anyone know how much cap room they have? Twitter is down, unfortunately.
Between the trade deadline moves last year, the draft and now this group of FA signings; Rob has shown he is really settling in to his role.
