I’m all for a change. Especially if that person is free to operate without a bunch of other cooks in the kitchen.
Wishful thinking is he pushed it back until a trade is finalized. More than likely it's to find the right parable and obscure book to reference to use during his presser.
It's probably not related but since the tweets are attached, maybe Nets are looking to trade Kyrie after he couldn't even make it to training camp before jumping off the deep end
Honestly yes. Lol. I would love it if we got new ownership that would run the team like a world class franchise instead of a mom and pop shop. Beyond that though, the reality of the roster is settling in and folks are upset. Tough to hide my own disappointment as well. Still would love to see the team come out on fire and ease our concerns though.
That’s fair. I don’t know if I need an ownership change yet but I am not thrilled with Rob this off-season. It’s still a fail to me.
Issues with Jeanie stem from non basketball related situations. Rob, since day one, was always a fake to me. They do things that I hate, deeply. The basketball screw ups are just the icing. Supporting people that act like they are a small business and actually had the gall to apply for a small business forgiveness program, and being a fake like Rob is, well, it's just hard to be excited when people like this succeed. Look at Brett Favre. He was always an entitled douche bag and eventually the chicken always comes home to roost if you continue to be a scumbag. And he scumbagged in a really bad way.
it's fine to be disappointed our roster. what i'm curious about is why it's all directed at rob, this summer, when our problems stemmed from basically all stakeholders, last summer. this summer went pretty well, imo. i would have liked to see russ moved, but the deals sucked. i would have preferred no beverley trade, but i can understand the idea behind it (personally, i think it's as much about the trade deadline as it is about opening day). we just didn't have anything to work with after going scorched earth for westbrook and letting eagle walk.
I think you may have misread Rob. I don't think he is a fake. He seems super-sincere, which can seem fake to people. He was one of Kobe's best friends for years. I have a hard time believing Kobe would invest himself into a fake friend.
Yeah this armchair personality diagnosis is totally subjective put out as fact here. Rob was made Gianna's godfather by the Bryants and executor to their estate for chrissakes. Kobe didn't suffer fools or "fake" people (my subjective opinion that seems borne out by Kobe's personality himself).
I don't personally care what Rob's personality is - fake, authentic, whatever. But he needs to perform. He did a nice job securing KCP the first piece of the puzzle due to Klutch relations, with Magic landing Lebron and then trading for AD. Good work filling out that championship roster and hiring Vogel who got the job done. But as ever it's a what have you done for me lately business and we're coming off some very bad seasons. I don't see how this roster has improved much and we've added some characters (Schroder and BevMo) that I really can't stand while jettisoning and losing a couple I really liked (Stan and Monk). I'm confused by the logjam at the guard positions and the likely fall out will be Reaves playing out of position or getting his minutes cut which I also don't like. We're weak at the wing with undersized guys and lacking shooting as well. I'll give Rob props for filling out the Center position. But that's about it. Walker and Brown don't move the needle for me. Maybe they will surprise me. I hope so. I am still hoping Rob somehow trades Russ sooner than later.
Well I’m biased since I never liked us going with him and Magic to lead things. I have equal criticisms across our front office.
I don't agree with everything, but this is a great example of a good post. While not agreeing, I can see your point and you make valid arguments. Good read
i didn't like the regime change or how it transpired. even though it was clear jim was in over his head, i felt like mitch was a solid manager, and if we like company men, he was that to a T. i didn't like magic as an executive because, quite frankly, i'd heard him speak. i was ok with rob as a change of pace, and i liked and still like his kobe seal of approval. but the issue is that dr. buss was singular, and his progeny got none of it, so we're trading on name alone. jeanie helped with optics and relations, but that was a bandaid. we're doomed unless we sell, imo.
.. yeah. I wanted things to be different but I feel the same about his kids. Maybe Jesse and Joey can take the reigns at some point. Who knows. I always liked Mitch but understood us cleaning house. It was a while back but I don’t feel like i heard much talk of a Laker tax in the Mitch days. Just really felt we missed a chance to put together a great front office. I felt like Magic was in the wrong role. Have him close with free agents, etc. Just shouldn’t have been in charge. I didn’t like the thought of Rob learning on the job. But I won’t rehash all the history. Despite my pessimism, I’ll repeat that there’s still time for Rob to make a move and ease concerns. There’s guys who can help the team and if the current leaks are true, our potential dance partners may be ready to make realistic deals. We will see.
