    1) I'm happy that he even showed up in person to take questions from the press

    2) He made it abundantly clear that it's on him.

This is leadership I can get behind. Its imperfect but good self awareness is a great starting point towards turning things around.

Actually I would argue today is the day to go down the list of reasons why this team was a massive disappointment. It's not like this team is busy with the play-in or preparing for the playoffs.

right--the FO gives a tepid extension after a title, then brings in players that don't work with what we've done (which worked!), including one who from the first day was basically tuned out.

i guess that's "losing the team". but let's be honest--he lost lebron and AD, and lebron and AD aren't going anywhere this summer.

Taking the day off Rob? Because that's been every other day and will continue to be every day of the off season from all camps involved.

Why is Kurt Rambis anywhere near a FO in the NBA let alone on the lakers? Talk about falling upwards.
Pelinka open admitting that they consult with him is truly galactic brain stuff

I mean why is Linda Rambis part of the brain trust? What are her credentials? Has she played or coached any level of professional basketball anywhere?

I already went in on the front office for their sheer stupidity in the coaching thread. But I didn't feel that was sufficient.

The quote from Turner at The Times
This is where poor personnel management will come back and bite you in the a**. I don't get it. I really don't.

Rob was an agent for 20 years! He should be the best in the league at optics comprehension and spinning. Not pointing fingers. Controlling the narrative. Big difference.

The "extension." Having Vogel coach on a game to game basis. Saddling him with assistants he didn't get to pick. The Lue contract offer. Monty not liking the structure of the front office and not wanting to be a fall back option. Our general cheapness and flippant disregard and disrespect for the position. Then to still be naive enough to think you'll have your pick of the litter when the job opens up again.

Headline folks: IT MATTERS HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE.

I'm not arguing whether or not Frank was a good coach. He's gone. For now that doesn't matter. If his successor does better/worse, that's the time to revisit that. I'm simply trying to understand how we can be this stupid?!

And if it's not Rob who's to blame, he has to get ahold of the rope because his clock is now ticking and he's next on the kill list.

I find it very difficult to believe that the timing of Woj’s tweet about an inevitable firing will make any tangible difference in the decision making of coaching candidates. I think a lot of the discourse around how we handled Vogel’s firing has been overblown.

With that said, what’s frustrating is that the simplest way to avoid this even being a talking point would have been to just be more competent. You have to know the media is going to feed on this team’s carcass like vultures, looking for every possible spin to portray us as dysfunctional to draw clicks. So simply don’t give them a reason. Should have seen how the optics would play out ahead of time and act accordingly.

I honestly think a good deal of this is Kurt. I remember reports from the last coach search that Kurt was the one demanding that any coach hired put Jason Kidd on his staff. I also remember reports of Kurt himself possibly wanting to be on the staff. I think Kurt is the one who is really running this like a s*** show, being the guy in Jeanie’s ear, saying how we should play (the making DJ start stuff, telling Vogel he was coaching for his job on a game by game basis), he’s the moron that gets to have power because his wife’s BFF is the owner.

Sort of similar to how it is with Magic. One of the best players of all time, amazing. Zero qualifications to be team president or GM, one step up from personnel idiot. I’m not a fan of how Rob has done a lot of stuff, and I also think he leaks stuff to make himself look better, he seems like a snake, but I do think Kurt is the main problem here. Him being in power has held Joey and Jesse Buss back, and it likely has us playing a way that’s very outdated.
