At the same time, Jerry referred to the Lakers as "that s**t show over there" in a convo with Kawhi that went public. Why would he need tickets to a "s**t show?"
this was a simpler recap of my point. i'm not sure what you expect given your behavior in the past few years. you've worked for competitors and literally attempted to sabotage us on multiple occasions, but here, have your seats.
Idk what Rob has to do with Jerry. Am I missing something? Whatever. All I'm concerned about is him doing a better job than the crappy he did this year.
It’s obviously a bad look by the Lakers, no doubt. But the relationship with Logo is extremely strained. He’s talked a ton of trash about the organization over the last few years. And he has always been one who is easily offended, feeling slighted by others and holding grudges. It’s not pretty. If Dr. Buss did say he could have lifetime tickets, which makes sense considering all he has done for the Lakers his whole career then I feel they should keep honoring that. But he is an old crotchety grouch towards the Lakers so I get their side as well. It’s a lose lose situation for the organization.
In all seriousness it's probably not about the fact that he can no longer see Laker games without paying out of pocket, but more so that the Lakers gave him something for all these years and now are taking it from him with no apparent reason. At the end of the day there were perceived and maybe real slights to him so now he's lashing out when we suck and are down. I posted in the Jeanie thread that I think he's being dramatic and is definitely giving off "old man yells at cloud" meme energy.
Look, Dr. Buss told that racist pig Sterling he should move the Clips from San Diego to a bigger market and then Sterling stabbed him in the back and moved them to LA. Since then they have been (as Phil Jackson put it) "eating off Dr. Busses' plate for years". The Clippers are a parasitic organization to the Lakers. West going to work for them was the ultimate FU to the Laker organization. Ol' Zeke should've gone back to Cabin Creek, catchin' coons and brewing up homemade moonshine, throwing darts @ his Bill Russell poster. Getting back to Rob, I think Rob got lucky with the 2019-2020 roster and I think he got the impression that this sh!t is easy and he could juggle things around and come out roses again. Well he's learned building the right chemistry is important and if you have a giant glaring hole in something like defense it's gonna exact a cost.
Yeah, I’m going here. Pelinka has consistently lost trades or had to give up extra picks and such to get them done. I don’t know if he’s a bad GM, or even if other GMs still hate him from his agent days, but he never wins a trade. Maybe next time don’t hire a first timer, we’re the god damn Lakers, we pretty much have our pick of great, established GMs out there who would love to come in and run this org.
it's not time to commit. it's time to decommit from this season and not make a panic trade. we didn't have the assets to make the move the clippers just did. well, we had them but used them on westbrook and let the rest walk instead of retaining them for salary matching purposes in trades. when i kept harping about the loss of flexibility, this is what i was talking about. the clips had 22 million in dead weight expirings they could move for marginal upgrades.
Nobody is going to help us out. Plus, there isn’t going to be a miracle trade that fixes this team. There’s just so many holes that need to be plugged.
This was a salary dump move, Portland wanted to shed tax while getting a first round pick in return. It means they didn’t want to resign Covington who is an expiring and dumped Powell for Keon Johnson and a tax break. The truth is we didn’t want to take on salary and we didn’t want to part with a first. Portland doesn’t want THT either at his salary. These Twitter experts are sooo annoying.
right. we don't have the chips, and everyone hates us anyway. there would be outrage right now about us adding 19 million to the tax bill, shedding dead weight and adding two rotation quality wings in the process. popovich would reconvene the trade committee.
Rob "won" the most important trade of his tenure. We got AD and another trophy. The Pels got another ping pong ball to the lottery.
Rob also bid against himself in this trade and gave up bunch of picks and pick swaps he probably didn’t have to because AD demanded Lakers and Lakers only. It’s ok to criticize the front office when they suck, Mitch pulled off Pau and some great other moves like Ariza, Shannon Brown, but he still sucked at the end.
