That's my concern. To address the issues on this roster or whatever version we move forward with, it'll take 3 cycles (mid-season, off-season, mid-season), the more of those you sit out the more pressure you put on yourself and fewer misses you're giving yourself.

that's all true. i'm still stuck on the idea that we're NOT putting both our first and some cap space out there in an attempt to find a starting-caliber player on a luka/reaves timeline. i think we are. ellis moved. did we offer a first? is he a starting-caliber player? we don't know. as always, i'm waiting to see who does move and whether we had a shot at them.

i agree that getting two starters just using cap space and picks in the summer is difficult-to-impossible. but getting one starter with a single pick and expirings at this deadline may also be impossible.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said the other day. Skip this trade cycle & you better nail this offseason. That doesn't include just maxing Reaves; there are subsequent that better follow.

Yeah. I don’t see how you can address everything in one swoop as you all are pointing out. Also feel like banking on guys Giannis and even Watson is a mistake. Very high chance of ending up in a situation where we wait for those guys and the market completely dries up.

Well do ANY of you guys, have some actual trade scenarios, using all this cap space and drafts picks available this summer? You have to have enough salary going out, in order to trade for a good player, so how would any hypothetical trade , that you like work? Give me some specific players, and your path to them. To my knowledge...Ayton, Smart, Vando and Jake are our tradable contracts...Who can we get with some combination of those guys?

Right, just like this last offseason, and the one before that, the unspeakable signing all the old washed players one, it’s always the same. It was a nice save adding guys like Smart and Ayton, but those aren’t future pieces in all likelihood, just more temp guys as we wait for this mythical cap space bonanza. We need to be adding one long term piece here, one there, drafting and developing guys, and we just aren’t.

We continue to play guys like Gabe instead of seeing what guys like Bufkin have if given a consistent chance. Playing a guy who we know will not be here next season, who isn’t leading us to wins, in a season that clearly isn’t actually about winning a title. I cannot stand that sort of riding the middle approach, wasting time on players who will not be here, continuing to let guys salaries expire rather than getting even just second rounders for helping some team get salary relief, just anything creative or building towards something at all.

Like why was Timme getting minutes and looking decent, and then suddenly he’s a garbage time only player? He was showing himself to be a decent bench guy and then he’s just out, for what, for Gabe? I guess I don’t get why we’re pretending we’re playing for a title or something and these certain guys MUST play. I’m sorry, no, we need to be trying different guys and see what we can find for the future going forward. Maybe none of these guys are good enough, but at least find out, rather than eventually watch them walk and produce elsewhere like guys like Pippen Jr and Huff.

This team healthy, is still only play-in caliber? We ain't ever winning jack. I mean damn.. Luka, Lebron,Austin, Rui, Ayton, Smart, Vando, Jake, and Hayes? We can't add a minor -mid move, and be right in the mix? Jeesh. We just won 50 games last season!!!

And got bounced in the first round… Good lord there is optimistic fandom and there’s reality. We have one of the worst benches in the NBA, we can’t defend for any meaningful length of time, and we are 18th in 3 point shooting percentage which is hugely boosted by Rui’s high percentage on low volume, and we’re 24th in three pointers made. If you think this roster can actually compete for a championship once the playoffs start I don’t know what to tell you, you’re not being honest with yourself or something. Austin coming back will win us some more games for sure, but he’s not fixing our defense and athleticism problems, and no one mid move isn’t putting us into contention, man, what? Also lol, I forgot about this

Yeah and if we had Ayton and Smart we beat Minnesota and get at least to the Conference Finals too. Hell we are missing an All Star caliber player for over half of the season so far, that has to account for something man. How do you know, that adding another mid move, doesn't put us in contention? It's depends on the player involved. Hell we are still in the mix , for a top 4 seed with Austin missing over half of our games.

I have my Rob and JJ issues, hell yeah...but we aren't some damn scrubs either.

Yeah, anyway… I’m starting to wonder about the Mark Williams trade as well, because he is playing 24 mpg in 45 games this season so far. I’m genuinely starting to wonder if Pelinka just freaked the f out knowing he gave away his final precious first round pick and found a way to undo it, but at the same time showed Luka he WOULD make a move for him, enough to convince him to sign that extension. Would make sense why some teams don’t want to deal with him, it’s not a good look to rescind trades. I guess the only positive is Luka is not a guy who would ever demand a trade, he’s loyal to whatever team he’s on, even if it’s run by a clueless clown.

I'm not arguing with you on that take. I think Rob has been mediocre ASF, but we do have some high end talent on this team, inspite of my opinion of him.

Yeah, I don't know. We'll see. This is why I (sound like a broken record) think there should be more qualified people in that room with Rob. Get as many smart basketball people as you can.

I'm hoping that the Giannis s*** is done by this trade deadline; it will keep Rob from reaching for the stars this summer and concentrate on building an actual basketball with two-way players I hope.

This year? Not expecting much but a first or second round exit. Shrugs.
