nothing brings more sadness during a Lakers game than Rondo checking in

if Rondo wasn't on the Lakers, i highly doubt he would still be in the league

I am convinced that Rondo is only playing because he's buddies with AD and the Lakers don't want to upset AD.

I don't know what it would look like or if it's even something the FO would consider, but seems to me they should have a private meeting with AD and Lebron to explain why his minutes need to be reduced. If they're good with it then let Vogel know. Unfair to Vogel to have this hanging over his head due to his 2 superstars. They HAVE to want to WIN more though, right?

Lebron is one of the greatest basketball minds in history. AD seems pretty smart too. They have to know that Rondo is absolutely killing us out there. Maybe they just don't see a viable alternative right now? If we sign Collison, and Rondo still gets all these minutes, Lebron and AD have failed as leaders of this team.

i think they feel like he's also a great basketball mind, and that his abilities will help them when the stakes are at their largest. i'm FULLY skeptical. but...we're sort of here. i'm actually wondering how collison supplants rondo without things getting weird. which is sad.

anyway, rondo, cousins, i think these are long-game plays by rob. he wants to keep his stars happy and restore la as THE place for top-tier stars to play. we punted a lot of our cache in the jim buss years. rob knows that relationships with the right folks open the big doors. maybe rondo is part of that.

at least, this is what i tell myself whilst watching him suck.

Plus the coaching staff fears that if they cut Rondo all their playbook will be exposed to a rival who will pick him up.

i was hoping he'd be an assistant coach this year. said so before we signed him. that's where he should be at this point in his career, imo.

hope he makes me look stupid some time in june.

What? You been talking to them, Big Guy?

And I doubt there is anything about our Lakers "playbook", sadly, that other teams are dying to find out about.

It will never happen, but my dream is we sit him down and ask him if he wants to make $2.5 million more a year and he'll still be on the team. Cut him and make him an assistant coach. Still gets to be around AD, Bron, and Boogie. We get our roster spot and Collison.

But that's not going to happen. Pride and he still thinks he has a lot left. He'll play out his contract and maybe then he'll consider it.

I do want him on the coaching staff, I think he'll make a great coach and it's tough to remember because he's lost so much of his on the court ability and sprinkle in the lazy passes... yikes! But he does have a great knowledge of the game, has a great relationship with top flight players, those guys listen to him, and he is a tape junkie. All the makings of a good coach.

The ring is the only thing folks .... it’s kind of sad IMO. They spend the entire season rather than enjoying a resurgent and competitive season of Lakers basketball, in first place even headed for maybe 60 wins, with a “chance” legitimately to win a ring ..... unable to simply enjoy the ride because they’re constantly fearful we’re not good enough to actually win the ring. Happiness on a deferred payment plan kind of. Certainly to each their own. But it is NOT the ONLY thing I would wager for far many more.
