If that bit about Wiggins is true, he’s an idiot. You’d rather be the #1 or #2 option on a 31-51 team and miss the playoffs than be on as high as a possible 3 seed in the playoffs as a 3rd option while you’re about to start making insane money? I gotta question that rumor, and again, if it’s true I gotta question Wiggins’ brain.
Our chances are next to nil at making the playoffs. But Luke better continue to push these guys on just how important defense is. Rudy Gobert is your Defensive Player of the Year and it ain't even close. Dude missed 26 games pre-Allstar and the Jazz were 19-28. He comes back on Jan. 17, 2018 and a week later, the Jazz go on an unbelievable run. Since Jan. 24th, the Jazz have only lost twice and are 19-2 during that span. Unbelievably, they're still the 8th seed. They're 3rd in the league in Defensive Rating, but their defensive numbers are insane post-Allstar. Since the the break, they're 1st in Defensive Rating with a 92.2 mark. By comparison LA is 11th in the league since that time with a a 105.5 rating. Obviously trading for Crowder was a super slick move at the deadline, but the scary part of this Utah team is that since the break, they are holding opposing 3pt% to 29.2 which puts them at 1st in the league. As the playoffs stand right now, guess which Danphony team will face that d3fense. Also, OKC is presently ranked 4th in the standings and would be in that 1-4/5 bracket if they are lucky to advance to the 2nd round. Utah is real folks and barring an injury, I really feel they're going to make a ton of noise in the postseason. Luke and the coaching staff needs to use them as an example to our young squad at the importance of team defense. I love Jules as our small ball 5, but if we can find a rim protector of some sort this summer (BLo could be that dude for the room exception), it would be paramount after locking up 2max guys. We gotta bring that type of sauce next year!
What tipped you off? We had Potato Head to listen to as the face of the coaching staff .... of course.
It's been so long since the Brown regime. He was no novice in the ranks and had a good run at Missouri. Snyder also paid his dues in other places in the NBA. Very measured and calculating...yet intense. Good hair too. Had visions of another Pat Riley clone to lead the P&G.
funny how 2 of mike brown's assistants went on to become HC's (snyder and clifford) and another is more than likely going to take over for pop in SA when he retires (messina)
Potato head's coaching staff was one of the best we've had. He was really for surrounding himself with great people, something our following head coaches didn't do.
Yeah, Byron was like the opposite It’s like he refused to hire a qualified assistant so we’d have a hard time firing him mid season with no one capable of taking over
