At least I didn't make the over the top prediction at the start of the season like you. I'm at 44. We can do that right?
Timberwolves, Spurs, Thunders 2 out of 3 of these teams need to have a losing streak for us to make the playoff. I don’t see Denver dropping since they are playing so well.
Well the Spurs are smack dab in the middle of their's right now. Isn't that 5 losses in a row or something? Not that I expect it to continue much longer but they are dinged up like us right now and older than us.
Spurs lost 8 out of last 10 ,and without Aldridge they could be out of playoff soon and I still hoping that Pelicans are not going win every possible game just playing DAVIS
I want to kick the Cavs and LeBron's a**es on national TV next Sunday when we play them. All our guys that are capable of having big games .... have them and we run them out of Staples. We could do it if everyone did have good to really good games and maybe a couple at less than that. We would have him over a barrel wanting to be here so bad next year that WE can dictate the terms. If you just bought a new 20M home in Brentwood wouldn't you want to live in it? If he reflects on what on any given night going forward that Paul George, Lonzo Ball, Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma can get hot and explode for .... are you kidding? That's why he shouldn't be dictating anything or they should tell him thanks but no thanks .... and don't let the door get you there. Or go ahead and go to Houston or Philadelphia and stay there and slowly break down. Really really hope BI's MRI comes up negative and he can be available and feeling pretty good by then.
Id be just as happy if the thunder miss the playoffs as much as the lakers making the playoffs. haha Am I a hater?
Well "PRICELESS" would be they miss the playoffs and we make it in with one of the great late season runs ever.
I think it may be too steep a slope to climb looking at it. Though things can change, if it takes (as it does now) roughly a .556 average (currently 35-28) to get the #8 seed, we'd need 46 wins total or 18 more out of 20 games. We've now lost Hart, Nance Jr, Clarkson, Brewer and only got Thomas in exchange (I doubt Frye will play much if at all). Now BI is out for at least a week, possibly much more. That average may drop as it's pretty tightly congested around the lotto/playoff line. But for now, it's a real stretch to expect us to almost win out almost all our games. Spurs could drop out, I don't know about the Pelicans though, AD has them on a 7 game win streak in which time he's 40/15/2.7 blks. Not missing Boogie too much More realistic to target .500
So, Entertaining the miracle we make the playoffs and warriors get the top seed. I have no delusions that we're anywhere near the warriors level, but we've played them tough this year. Why? Are we a bad matchup for them or are they just screwing around until the playoffs?
We are 2-9 vs them the last 3 seasons and we had 2 overtime losses against them this season. They aren't exactly shivering in their boots about meeting us in a first round series. We've just played them well a few times. Similar style of ball, switch defense. Catches them off-guard every so often. They, Houston and us are the top 3 switch defense teams.
Its currently impossible with the way the standings are. But, as someone said, if we streak all the way to the 8th seed all the while, knocking the Thunder out? That would be just as satisfying.
I like it. After the final game Lonzo, BI, Randle and Kuz walk over and shake hands with PG and RW and then walk PG back to our locker room and show him which one is going to be his. Hey it's just the players ... no tampering.
Its very unrealistic to catch up the 8th spot with a 6 game deficit and only 20 games to play. Its near impossible. Lets say we win 15 out of 20...still the 8th spot just needs to win 9 out of 20. And also Utah has been playing extremely well, so there is a chance they continue to win at a high rate and their deficit is much smaller (only 2 games I think). We cannot complain though. Even though we might not get there because of our horrible play in December and early January, it is real progress. If we win 35+ games, thats pretty good in my book and way above expectations. I think 38 wins are now really realistic, especially since we will have a rather light and home heavy schedule. We have one more tough stretch coming up.
maybe this is for nba discussion, but both points are playoff relevant: 1. why did sac fire mike malone? he seemed to be doing well there, imo, given their roster. and now he's doing well in denver--they're playing better than their talent level. 2. what does NO's resurgence mean? if you're them, you have to think hard about offering cousins the max, but they're essentially capped out even if they let him walk...so they're almost forced to make a competitive offer or to at least pursue sign and trades. the sample size isn't that small anymore; they seem better without cousins.
