I listened to an interesting piece on NPR about Bannon where they interviewed some employees of his over at Breitbart, including women and a very conservative orthodox Jew. They all spoke very highly of him and the Jewish man spoke about many concessions that Bannon helped arrange that allowed him to practice his faith. He even mentioned how Bannon is always sure to wish him a Shabot Shalom on Fridays.

Of course that is his employees, but I was left wondering how much of the new Breitbart spin is authenticly rooted in reality, and how much is rooted in Bannon desire to market to the "alt-right". In the end I have never actually read anything on the sight so I have no idea.

^^^ the quote is racist,.offensive, and inaccurate. Bannon deserves all the push back that will surely come his way for it.

I like a lot of the work Young Turks, but they ran the 1 quote into the ground with all the "boo hoo" and "do you need white affirmative action?"

I agree with you there. I almost didn't post this because I thought that part was so stupid, but I love the Young Turks. They really do take both political parties to task pretty equally even though they are very up front with being a liberal media outlet.

Yeah that's a ridiculous quote. Clearly race based.

I've been doing some research since this exchange on those who use the term alt-right to identify themselves. I found way too much that has nothing to do with what I believe and support. So, I'm disconnecting from using alt-right to describe my political views. I'm going to re-brand myself as a conservative independent.

In my admitted limited experience alt right has very little to do with actual political conservatism and more to do with nationalism in a bad way.

Darkness is good. d*** Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That’s power. It only helps us when they(liberals) get it wrong. When they’re blind to who we are and what we’re doing.

    Steve Bannon

    Yep, he actually said that.

So Pence went to a play last night. audience booed, which I'm okay with. the cast read a statement saying they were afraid. I'm not okay with that.

Obama went to a Bulls game and got booed. Imagine if the coach of the Bulls read a statement saying how he's failed the people of Chicago.

Democrats have a history of not allowing Republicans to enjoy a play.

Naw, Obama and Pence getting booed are not equivalent. Pence enacted legislation to target gay people adversely. Obamas done nothing similar.

I think Obama's policies have hurt the inner city. I don't think he targeted them, as Pence did to homosexuals, but the damage is still felt. A person (or community) would be justified in expressing anger or frustration.

If a person stopped a play or a sporting event and pointedly asked Obama to explain himself that person would be destroyed by the Mainstream Media. And I would say it was inappropriate for them to ask. Not the place. Especially when one has a mic and the other doesn't. It's like heckling a comedian. No win situation.

I think this article was objectively written and shows the progress (or lack thereof) of Obama policies in the inner cities. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/donald-trump-right-what-obamas-done-black-america-n403881

But that all takes multiple steps of explaining the results of certain actions, and counter arguments to decide if what Obama did was wrong and worth protest. It can all be argued as to who's fault it is and all the factors going into it.

Pence enacted legislation that would allow businesses to discriminate against gay people. Not a lot to argue or interperste there. Either you're for allowing people to discriminate against gays or your not.

OK. So I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I don't think a business should be forced to serve anyone they don't want to (unless they are a service provider that has a monopoly in an area like power, water, etc.). If I find out a company is discriminating against someone for race or religion or whatever, then I wouldn't shop there. Eventually they would go out of business if the public decides they are not "ethical." I don't know the details of Pence's legislation, but if it's related to that Portland bakery, they should not have gotten in trouble for not wanting to bake a cake for a gay couple. It's their bakery. Let free markets decide if their actions are wrong. Allowing the government to force people to do things is a very dangerous road. Should a pro-life doctor be forced to do abortions? Should he lose his license if he refuses? It sounds extreme, but it's really not all that different than the Portland bakery. We need to get the government out of our day to day lives.

I remember my wife (who is Mexican) went to this restaurant that she said had very good, authentic Mexican food. It was a little hole in the wall place. She had been there a couple times so I went with her and we sat down at a table and they literally would not serve us because (we assume) I was white. No joke. No exaggeration. We were the only people in the place at the time. I didn't complain to the authorities. My wife and I just both decided we would never go there again and we told everyone we knew what they did.

^^^ Speaking of the bakery not catering the gay wedding. In response to people saying their name is "Black Lives Matter" at Starbucks, people are now saying their name is "Trump." Which forces Starbucks to call out "Trump!" when their overpriced coffee is ready. Stupid and immature. But anyway, one Starbucks refused and called the police on the customer. How is this different than the bakery?

The owners of the bakery lost their business, owe a $100,000 fine, and when someone set up a Go-Fund me account and it made enough to pay the fine, it was shut down and the money was not given to them.

THIS is the type of stuff that got Trump elected.

If you're sick of the mainstream media, this is for you:

Donald Trump scolded media big shots during an off-the-record Trump Tower sitdown on Monday, sources told The Post.

“It was like a f–ing firing squad,” one source said of the encounter.

“Trump started with [CNN chief] Jeff Zucker and said ‘I hate your network, everyone at CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed,’ ” the source said.

“The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down,” the source added.

A second source confirmed the fireworks.

“The meeting took place in a big board room and there were about 30 or 40 people, including the big news anchors from all the networks,” the other source said.

“Trump kept saying, ‘We’re in a room of liars, the deceitful dishonest media who got it all wrong.’ He addressed everyone in the room calling the media dishonest, deceitful liars. He called out Jeff Zucker by name and said everyone at CNN was a liar, and CNN was [a] network of liars,” the source said.

“Trump didn’t say [NBC reporter] Katy Tur by name, but talked about an NBC female correspondent who got it wrong, then he referred to a horrible network correspondent who cried when Hillary lost who hosted a debate – which was Martha Raddatz who was also in the room.”

The stunned reporters tried to get a word in edgewise to discuss access to a Trump Administration.

[CBS Good Morning co-host Gayle] King did not stand up, but asked some question, ‘How do you propose we the media work with you?’ Chuck Todd asked some pretty pointed questions. David Muir asked ‘How are you going to cope living in DC while your family is in NYC? It was a horrible meeting.”

Trump spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway told reporters the gathering went well.

“Excellent meetings with the top executives of the major networks,” she said during a gaggle in the lobby of Trump Tower. “Pretty unprecedented meeting we put together in two days.”

The meeting was off the record, meaning the participants agreed not to talk about the substance of the conversations.

The hour-long session included top execs from network and cable news channels. Among the attendees were NBC’s Deborah Turness, Lester Holt and Chuck Todd, ABC’s James Goldston, George Stephanopoulos, David Muir and Martha Raddatz,

Also, CBS’ Norah O’Donnell John d***erson, Charlie Rose, Christopher Isham and King, Fox News’ Bill Shine, Jack Abernethy, Jay Wallace, Suzanne Scott, MSNBC’s Phil Griffin and CNN’s Jeff Zucker and Erin Burnett.

Arthur Sulzberger, publisher of The New York Times, plans to meet with Trump Tuesday.

There was no immediate comment from the Trump Team.

You're missing my point. My point wasn't the right or wrong of it, just that enacting legislation to allow businesses to discriminate against gays, is very straight forward black and white with no room for argument on if Pence actually did it or not. There is no grey area debate to what extent other factors played in Pence enacting the legislation. He did it. Very straight forward. So you're either for it or against it, and people won't be confused or misdirected about if he did it or not as opposed to the example of Obama above.

Therefore, people that are against it will protest passionately because they are sure about the facts of what Pence did and that they don't like it.

I would have probably done the same thing, in addition to leaving a nasty Yelp review. That being said, I still want the option for legal recourse to be there, because what if it happens again at a different establishment? Or multiple ones? I want the comfort of knowing that my government is behind me on this because that's really screwed up ****. You, me, and everyone else on this board are protected by the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prevents discrimination from businesses on basis of race, color, sex, religion, and national origin.

While discrimination is an awful thing, and I despise it, but discriminating is a type of necessary evil to keep freedom alive... So if a bakery didn't want to serve a gay couple, then that's their right.... No one can tell other people how to feel about certain things, or force you to serve people you don't want to serve, that's not free enterprise... So yes, he allowed people to discriminate.... Now if it was an employee working for the local, state or fed gov't, than yes, you'll be in trouble. But for private business, I think they should be able to do, what they want.

Anyone keep up with Pence's attendance at the Hamilton play? Any thoughts? Appropriate venue to do what they did? Forget about the booing and what not, everyone gets that, hell Obama got booed when he visited Chicago.... But more about the cast talking directly to Pence in that setting?
