    Basic human rights...

So Trump would be violating them and promoting racism if he built his 700-mile border and deported 2.5 million illegal immigrants, right?

I lied. They were actually Hillary's and Obama's ideas.

    Nope.

He's already bacpedalling and changing his stance now that he won. He took down the deport muslims page on his website. There are reports that he's now talking about a fence instead of a wall, and he's talking about changing Obamacare instead of totally scrapping it.

None of that sounds like a bad thing to me, but changing the points he ran on, a day or two after winning the presidency is sounding an awful lot like your standard politician.

You guys can spin however you want. I don't give a s***. He is your president. Whatever helps you nurture your conscience. Things probably were taken out of context, right?

For me - a person that claims that Mexicans are rapists, grabs women by ..... because he is a celebrity and so much more to even mention... is what he is. Quacks like a duck, you know.

And there is a very very long distance between wanting to deport illegal immigrants and claiming that they all are rapists. Or wanting to deport citizens from a specific race/religion.

I am out. This is your s***, if you like to sleep in it and claim it smells of roses - it's your prerogative. Who am I to tell you otherwise.

    P.S.

I didn't bring Trump vs. Clinton into it. You did.

Putting in a white bulletin (or whatever not choosing anyone is called in your a**-backwards system) is also executing one's democratic choice, you know...

It wasn't a deport page it was a page on entry and it went back up as it was hours later. And reports of a fence instead of a wall is not him saying hes going to build a fence instead of a wall, let's wait on that one first before saying he changed his mind because as of right now he hasn't. He did say he would repeal and replace Obamacare and went back on that one to instead just modifying it - which isn't what he said he would do, so I give you that. But it may very well resemble nothing of obamacare by the time hes through with it.

ObamaCare has one thing I love: can't be denied on preexisting condition. so any new or modified version needs to keep that.
Otherwise, ObamaCare was a failure. widely unpopular, costs are going up (and will keep going up). Obama said a couple weeks ago, "don't blame me for the high cost." well, you can't fine people for not having something and then brag about how many have it.
The new term being used is Health Savings Account. we shall see.....

Zen, this is a classic straw man argument. You say he said all Mexicans are rapists then you get on your high horse and insult everyone who chose to vote for the man. He never said what you say he said. Judge the man for what he actually said, not the version that is convenient for the argument you want to make.

I'm not a fan of Trump. He is crude, rude, and lewd. I would prefer to see solid character in my presidents. But I am a fan of arguments that recognize logical principles and argue based on facts rather than facts twisted until they are no longer facts.

Straw man argument? I don't think it means what you think it means.

Claiming that Trump said things that are actually on tape is not it. He didn't say they were rapists? OK. How about women? Muslims? Black people? Disabled people? POWs?

"When Mexico is sending people, they are not sending you, they are not sending you, they are sending people that have a lot of problems. They are bringing those problems with them. They are bringing drugs, they are bringing crime, they are rapists... And some I assume are good people."

That is directly from the horse's mouth. I don't f***ing care how much you want to spin it. Never mind that it has been proven multiple times that the statement is absolutely f***ing false. That is a s***ty s***ty person saying s***ty s***ty things, to get votes. And there is so much more.

Anyway... have fun. All those are probably:

    1. have been taken out of context
    2. just ole' Donald being a non-savvy politician
    3. being non-PC (enough with this PC crap, amirite?)

Editing the thread title now that the election is over.
I may know more about logical argumentation than you are willing to acknowledge.

Just so everyone reading is clear on my earlier point: a straw man argument is one based in exaggeration or misrepresentation.

You said he said all Mexicans are rapists. Then, when I called you on it, you posted a quote that clearly says otherwise. Your chosen quote confirms my point. Now, if you want to change the point to an issue of what percentage of Mexicans he was insulting then we need to move into the realm of speculation because he did not assign a specific percentage.

If you want to discuss others of his inflammatory statements, we can discuss them one by one if you like. I won't defend several of them because I disagree with many of his statements. My point was not supporting his comments but an effort to urge accuracy in the argumentation.

    1. I've never said he said "All Mexicans". Check the quote. And my later verbatim is to show you that he didn't say "some of the Mexicans". His wording clearly showed a reference to majority. Of course, that's semantics, which was not what my point was.
    2. I've never insulted anyone (here is your straw man) despite what you claimed in your response to me

For the record - straw man argument means one side puts forth an argument against a claim that was never made by the other side or distorts one that was. Something I haven't done.

You guys selected a reprehensible human being for president. One that doesn't even try to hide it. You now have to come to grips with reality. I get it.

As I said earlier, and what you probably misconstrued as an insult, you had a lapse in judgement.

Oh. I understand. I get your point. I'm just saying there are things that are "protest-able" to any people group.

For the record, a straw man argument is exactly what I previously described it to be; an exaggeration or misrepresentation of the other side's position in order to score easier points in an argument.

    1. Yes you did. Here is your quote from a previous post:

"For me - a person that claims that Mexicans are rapists ..... And there is a very very long distance between wanting to deport illegal immigrants and claiming that they all are rapists.

    2. Yes you did. You clearly implied in a post above that anyone who voted for Trump is not a decent human being. You clearly implied that any effort to defend a decision to vote for Trump is only nuturing our own conscience. Your flippantly dismissive tone is also insulting. No, I did not take the lapse in judgment comment as an insult. That's your opinion with which I disagree, but I did not construe it as an insult.

Yes, this nation did select a reprehensible human being as president. What you seem to be missing is that the only two candidates that could actually win were both reprehensible human beings. So, as a voter, it is my responsibility to choose the less reprehensible of the two. That's what I did and why I voted for Trump.

Oh, is that right? OK. There was no exaggeration on my part, but whatever, keep pressing on it, if you'd like. Rationalization have different forms. Don't see how you quoting me changes the fact that I didn't misrepresent anything.

You on the other hand picked and chose what of the claims of Trump's horrible things to cling to. Then you decided to be "large" and say that you disagree with "his statements".

These are not statements. Racism, bigotry and chauvinism are NOT f***ING STATEMENTS! They are an absolute stop sign for anything else this person does, says or means. IT boggles my mind that someone would chose to rationalize over it.

As for insults, this is what I said:

I stand by it. As for my "flippantly dismissive tone", that's on you and your perception.

    And no

    is is not.

I'd suggest you to not respond, since this is the absolute last time I am going to, but I'd imaging you would not listen anyway.

I find it interesting how a lot of people are criticizing Trump for "flip-flopping". I mean obviously he has a history of it and it's a poor trait for a politician in the sense that we don't know if/when he'll "flip" back.

But it's possible that he's finally just coming to the middle which is a good thing. Shouldn't it be considered a good thing that he's willing to compromise and keep some of the good aspects of Obamacare?

Yet the sentiment I'm hearing from some liberals is so anti-Trump and they want to attack him for everything he says, to the point where it almost comes across like now they want Obamacare fully repealed just to be contrarian lol.

Reminds me of that Key and Peele skit

I haven't heard any liberals who are complaining about him possibly keeping Obamacare.

I agree. No one HAS to vote for anyone they don't agree with. I couldn't find any candidate I could feel good about, so I wrote in Bernie, and I'm glad I did.

If you voted for Hillary, or Trump, it doesn't matter if your reason was something other than their respective corruption/racism. If you voted for them, you have supported and endorsed a despicable person.

But the whole argument has always been which one do you find more/less despicable.

And I never bought the whole, "they are BOTH equally, exactly down the middle, despicable" argument.

And that argument is ridiculous and pointless. There are degrees of bad for politicians/human beings, and both of them were way way past the point of acceptable and into the territory of horrible people.

No, no one HAD to choose either of them
