I think some of you have indicated that you are so frustrated with this election that you're not going to vote. Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you just vote for Johnson to communicate your frustrations with the BS that the two-party system has gotten us into?

Personally, I'm voting Johnson unless the Dems continue giving a slap to the face to the millennials in which case I'll illogically vote for Trump out of spite.

Honestly, I'm voting for Johnson or I'm going to do a write in for myself. I asked around the office and I have 4 votes already! If my wife votes for me, which she probably will, I'd have 5.

I think climate change is a serious issue. But for the Dem Convention, how are you going to call out the GOP for fearmongering and then have a 10 minute video directed by James Cameron painting today's climate as some post-apocalyptic nightmare while you haven't even mentioned terrorism.

Honestly, both candidates are not ideal. I don't like Hilary, and Trump, while I love his attitude, thats all I can really say I like about him, and the fact he doesn't really need to rely on special interest groups and super PACs to fund him.

Does anyone else think Tim Kaine is just a bit too much on the creepy side of the spectrum?

I didn't get a creepy vibe. While I don't like some of his centrist policy standpoints, to me, he genuinely seemed like a nice guy. But weak. I didn't buy his attacks on the GOP. His speech had some substance, but he just wasn't a very powerful speaker. Something about his mannerisms. At the GOP convention, Pence was the primetime speaker on the third day of the convention. This time around, Kaine was upstaged (obviously) by Obama, but surprisingly he didn't even seem to be in the same league as Biden.

Ignoring policy, Pence seems like a much more capable leader than Kaine.

I can't say I agree with the entirety of the libertarian movement ( I am adamantly Pro-Life), but I have voted for them for the last 12 years or so. My biggest concern is after reading the wiki leaks on the DNC, and seeing the same kinds of things at work in the GOP, is that even if they do earn a spot in the debates it wont be granted. And if in time a libertarian candidate was to actually get enough votes to be elected POTUS, that the electoral college would simple giggle a bit and say no, if the votes weren't fixed by then...

I absolutely agree with you. The system is so impossibly rigged because we've allowed the two main parties to take more and more control of the process. We've lost any semblance of democracy and we are somewhere between an oligarchy, a dictatorship, and a republic. We elect the same officials year after year encouraging them to protect their own self interests as a "public service" becomes a career. We tend to elect people within the same family because they're people we can "trust" like the Bushs, the Clintons, the Kennedys even though these families have made fortunes while their constituents mostly remain the same. The only meager amount of control we have is the ability to decide our own delegates and our own small town representatives, but those voices are easily drowned out, bought off, or influenced. The political parties control the media we see so the vast majority of the population believes what they're told to believe not too different from China or Korea.

The difference is we're given the illusion of choice between two parties unlike other dictatorships when in reality those two parties are not too dissimilar. They're both after big government because big government means their livelihood and how many actually relinquish power once they have it?

I think what we're seeing is some of the American people actually waking up and realizing we're NOT a democracy and we've been lead to worry about trivial things and been lead to look in other directions while the two parties continue to violate our rights, rob us of our money, and then tell us they're doing a great job while they continue to take paychecks they write for themselves. We've never seen the corruption so easily on both sides of the fence and yet there's still millions upon millions of people who are willing to vote down party lines in order to save us from the devil on the other side. It's amazing how many people will support Hillary Clinton as she blatantly lies, cheats, and connives her way to the election. Benghazi, the email scandal, the other email scandal, the dozens and dozens of lies that she's caught saying and the #1 reason the DNC has is "better than Trump". I don't know how any self respecting intellectual person can proudly vote for Trump either.

I really got off on a tangent there, but the point I was getting to was that we've lost control. A strong way to wrestle control back from the private interest parties is to vote for someone who stands for something different. Gary Johnson might never be anything and heck he may be lying to our faces too, but he's been the only one of the candidates that has said anything I can agree with. He's the only one I can vote for with a clean conscious. Wasn't that the main argument Dems had for Bernie? This is my Bernie. Socially progressive AND fiscally conservative, those are the best sides of the idiot parties we're lead to vote for. I'd say most Dems don't understand fiscal matters or maybe don't care about them. I'd say most conservatives care too much about social issues, but at least they've got the fiscal part right.

I'm rambling. Vote Gary Johnson! It's a reasonable vote and it's the right vote to try to prove to politicians that we as a society are ready to give up on this system.

Gary says he doesn't want to get money out of politics, but he wants to make it 100% transparent on who has donated to each candidate.

I'm not sure I think that fixes thing, but I'll damn sure vote for him before Hillary or Trump.

I don't think it's possible to take money out of politics at this point, but it never was going to be something we would get with Sanders either. If we can't get it out, then transparency works for me too.

He's also said he wants the government out of people's business which is something I absolutely agree with. I also agree with shrinking government in general.

Transparency doesn't matter if one candidate has 1 billion in donations because they're a corporate shill, and the other has 1 million because they have integrity and can't be bought off.

In the end, marketing and getting their name and face out there is what wins votes. Look at the position Gary Johnson is in right now as an example.

Transparency will never exist because Gary won't get elected. Either Trump or Clinton will and neither of them want any sort of transparency.

It's a start though and right now that's what we need. There's nobody else in the race offering it. Well maybe that Green Party lady but I haven't listened to her much.

No wondering who Magic supports. Never thought I could think less of him. Total tool in my eyes right now.

As much as all of the inflammatory political stuff going around can be funny at times, it's also a sad state of affairs on the current status of politics in America.

Does anyone know of any well-sourced articles that summarize Hillary's failures as Secretary of State that destabilized the Middle East? I often get into debates with some of my pro-Hillary family but I admittedly don't know too much about this aspect of her resume so being more informed on it would give me more talking points.

From what I know, basically she supported overthrowing governments in Libya, Syria, Egypt. These countries were previously governed by relatively oppressive dictators, but seemed to be complying with the US/UN and against the radical terrorist groups. After we helped overthrow them, they've been replaced by governments that are arguably just as oppressive and now ISIS has taken over much of these regions to fill the political vacuum. Is this correct? Were our troops involved in those coups, or did we just fund rebel groups?

    What else has she done?

Thanks, but most of those lies are typically the main things I bring up when criticizing Hillary. I'm looking for specifics about her failed foreign policy.
