Not sure this is true, and we'll find out at the convention, but I hope this is true. It would restore my faith in Bernie.

From a post of FB. Don't know the original author:

    "
    Phoenix Jordan
    July 12 at 9:47pm ·
"Q. Why did Bernie endorse Hillary now?

    A. They threatened to completey shut him out of the convention if he didn't.

    Q. Couldn't he have said screw them and go and fight at the convention anyway?

    A. No. Hillary has more delegates, Superdelegates, and supporters on the DNC rules committee. They would have voted down every one of our platforms, denied Bernie the opportunity to speak, and basically shut him out of the entire process. All the leverage he has gained up to this point would be gone.

    Q. So wait, Bernie DIDN'T quit today?

    A. No. He had to say she won the primary, he endorses her and will help the party defeat Trump, yadda yadda but he DID NOT concede. There is a very big and important difference. Had he conceded, all of his delegates would go to Hillary and he would no longer be an option for nominee.

    Q. So Bernie can actually still win??

    A. YES. And if he wasn't still TRYING to win, he would have conceded. The ONLY option he had to get to the convention with his delegates behind him and have a chance to still win was to do what he did today. He is not a traitor. He didn't sell us out. He did the only possible thing he could have done to keep fighting for the nomination.

    Q. So how can Bernie still win if he's losing the delegate count and he just said he will help Hillary win the election?

    A. By far the most important thing to the DNC, even more important than making sure Hillary beats Bernie, is making sure the Democratic nominee beats the Republicans in November. They scrutinize every poll, every opinion of the public, every event to judge whether a candidate is strong enough to win in November. There are A LOT of things going on right now that show how weak of a general election candidate Hillary Clinton is:

-66% of the country sees her as untrustworthy

-60% thinks she should have been indicted for the email scandal

-A lot of Bernie supporters won't vote for her

-Congress has requested the Department of Justice investigate her for lying under oath about the email scandal

-There's a possibility more emails will be leaked by wikileaks or hackers further proving her guilt

-Many believe the FBI is secretly investigating the Clinton Foundation

-Her "wins" during the primary have been tainted with accusations of fraud, suppression, lawsuits, and investigations

And then there's Bernie. An honest candidate people trust and whose approval rating and trustworthy rating crushes Clinton's. This is the argument Bernie will make at the convention. With all his 1,900 delegates inside arguing this case and 100,000 supporters outside arguing this case, we hope the DNC realizes he's the only choice. He CAN win the convention, but he has to get there first. That's why he endorsed her today.

    Q. So it's still important that all of his delegates go to the convention and we all still March on it like we planned?

    A. It's more important now than it ever was before.

    Q. What if the DNC still refuses to nominate him at the convention? Can he still run third party now that he endorsed her?

    A. Yes. In fact, running third party has never been an option until AFTER the convention. We need to stick with Bernie and see this through to the convention. He's led us this far. Do not abandon him now.

    Q. What if he loses at the convention and doesn't run third party, but instead endorses Hillary 100% and asks us to vote for her?

    A. Then our revolution continues without him and we continue to fight against Hillary Clinton and the DNC all the way up to November and beyond by voting for someone like Jill Stein or writing Bernie in. But the time for that is NOT here yet.

    Q. So what did Bernie accomplish with this move?

    A. Backed into a corner, facing the entire political pressure of the Democratic Party and the DNC, robbed of a right to claim he should be winning if not for a rigged process, and faced with the threat of being shut out of the convention completely Bernie:

    1. Managed to stay in the race and secure a prime speaking slot at a contested convention which he can turn into a floor fight

    2. Kept all of his delegates to use as leverage in that floor fight

    3. Got tens of thousands of people to "Like" and "follow" Green Party candidate Jill Stein on social media

    4. Amplified the ‪#‎NeverHilliary‬ screams of his supporters for all the media and Superdelegates to see 12 days before the convention.

Anyone trashing Bernie today needs to wake up and respect the masterful chess move he just made.""

^^^ Call me skeptical. I'm on the Anyone But Hillary train right now and won't vote for Trump. So yeah, if Bernie can play chess, I'm all for it (even if I don't like him either). But I think he sold out. We'll see.

Yeah I'm sorry I really don't buy him still being in this thing. There is no hope of him being the nominee and if he actually wanted to be the engine of change he proclaimed he would have stayed away from supporting Clinton and would have instead asked people to look more into Gary Johnson. Even if he and Gary don't agree on most policies (all?) Gary would be able to get on stage and give the American people something else to hear besides lies and idiocy.

    We'll see.

If he takes the opportunity to say f*** Hillary on the convention stage, all will be forgiven and he would get much more coverage than if he just slinked away and declared as a 3rd party candidate.

If that's the plan... that's ballsy

If he did that, he would be my personal hero...but I still wouldn't vote for him. I'm pretty sure I'm writing in myself for president.

I highly doubt Bernie tries to pull anything at the convention. He'll speak passionately about the issues he cares about to try to get some more traction for them on the democratic platform, and then kiss the DNC/HRC's a** to try to maintain some sway in his future political career.

To be fair, the "plagiarized" parts of the speech were extremely generic.

I'm more interested in the fact that there was a Rick Roll thrown in there :D

I said it as soon as I heard it: all speeches sound like this from politicians these days. I'm sure someone diligent enough could come up with speeches that borrow from historical figures from Bush, Clinton, and Obama too.

That being said it was clearly taken directly from Michelle Obama's speech and "tweaked" to fit her. It's unfair to characterize her entire speech as plagiarism, but it's definitely fair to call her/whoever wrote that speech out for the bits that were clearly not hers. I mean that's really embarrassing...

I don't know where else to put this, but I beg you to watch this. I had never heard of Dr Umar Johnson, but he has a book that I just ordered.

Dr Johnson touches on so many topics. I don't expect you to agree with all of what he says (I don't, by the way), but I think you'll find much of it interesting and a different way of viewing many different subjects (politics, racism, history, etc).

I really think you'll enjoy this.

I liked the interview. I found myself agreeing with a lot of the points he made initially, but then his reasoning seemed a bit "tinfoil hatty." I also don't agree with him calling Trump and Bush "idiots" and "fools." Whether you agree with their politics or not, both had to be pretty smart to get to where they are/were...especially Trump. Trump is NOT an idiot nor is he a fool. That's part of the problem. He has America believing he is an "every man" and isn't an intellectual when the reality is he is playing everyone like a fiddle.

Trump is intelligent in specific ways, but I wouldn't call him an intellectual necessarily. He would have to be intelligent to make the amount of money he has, but he still doesn't seem to grasp much in economics, social values, and basically anything else that's necessary to lead. He's also completely unwise. Intelligence without wisdom is not useless, it's dangerous.

I disagree a little. He knows his audience and he's pandering to them. That's one reason I dislike him so much. I don't think he actually believes half of what comes out of his mouth. He is manipulating the general public and knows his base. It's really no different than Hillary. Trump knows what his base wants to hear. I don't think the dumb things he says are necessarily "unwise." I think they are calculated.

I think you're giving him far too much credit if you think all the idiotic things that spout out of him are on purpose. It's only like Hillary in that he knows he can manipulate people, that's true. I also agree he doesn't believe half the things he says which is the only hope for this country if he actually gets elected. However, in almost every debate he proved he's not a learned man. He's not intelligent in the vast array of ways you need to be in order to lead the country effectively. He's intelligent in the same way Donald Sterling was: selfishly. He's capable of making money for himself, but I doubt very much whether he can create money for everybody else which is what our next president needs to do.

For what it's worth, I don't think Hillary or Bernie could have done (can do) it either.

My god, that dude makes some fantastic points!!

I don't agree with all of them either, but he is so on point with others.

I'm most certainly ordering his book when I get home.

I'm glad you guys watched it. I've watched it twice and implored family and friends to view it. Fascinating interview.

I love hearing other ways of seeing a situation, whether I agree or not. Just stimulating the mind.

I want to read his book just to see his explanations more in depth.

I don't agree with everything he said, but if he had time to go over all points, he might be able to convince me lol

I listened. Good perspective on things and I love good perspective.

I'm not sure I'm buying his book, but it's good to hear from someone with a different point of view.

So, Trump gave his speech tonight. I thought it was pretty good, but I was really impressed with Ivanka. Wow. I gotta rearrange my top 10. I'm officially Team Ivanka.

Rumor is Hillary will name her Vice tomorrow. I'm betting it's Elizabeth Warren.

I thought Trump's speech was good too. Nothing groundbreaking, typical Trump stances. But everything was fairly toned down and had much more of a presidential "temperament."

He calmed down a "Lock Her Up" speech by instead just saying "Let's beat her in November"

He explained his "Muslim" ban in a more PC way; stopping immigration from countries that have been infiltrated by terrorism until we can step back, review, and revise our vetting process until we know it's foolproof. I happen to agree with that and it came across much better than "ban the Muslims!"

He threw out some nods to the LGBTQ community which is probably a first for a speech by a nominee at the GOP convention.

He didn't throw a blanket over all immigrants, but talked about some stories of victims of illegal immigrants that he seemed genuinely affected by. He even talked about how illegal immigration is an obstacle for legal immigrants to step out of poverty.

Then the CNN panel comes on and tries to spin it as the most disgraceful/divisive speech of all time. That the speech was fearmongering and too dark.

Well look around. The world isn't sunshine and daisies. It IS dark. I don't know if Trump has the solutions, but at least he's acknowledging some problems that the left is downplaying.

But yeah, Ivanka's speech was amazing. The whole family really is pretty great and I think it does say a lot about Trump's values. You don't raise so many great kids by accident.
