He needed the momentum of defeating, or at least coming up close, against Hillary in her "home" state. Without that, I don't see him winning the nearly 60% of remaining delegates that he'll need especially since he's still losing to her in the polls in most of the remaining states.

Unless she gets indicted, there's no way the super delegates are going to switch to him if she's still leading in pledged delegates and the popular vote.

Even if she gets indicted, the party will prop up someone else in her place and they'll go with that guy instead of Bernie. The party doesn't want Bernie as their candidate.

Top NY Election Official Ousted for Purging Over 125,000 Brooklyn Voters
    Amanda Girard | April 22, 2016FacebookTwitter

The New York City Board of Elections is preparing to fire Diane Haslett-Rudiano, the chief clerk of elections in Brooklyn, after suspending her without pay following the New York primary’s chaotic voting process and massive voter purge.

Haslett-Rudiano was ousted by the City Board of Elections on Thursday night, “without pay, effective immediately, pending an internal investigation into the administration of the voter rolls in the Borough of Brooklyn,” according to a statement from the Board of Elections.

Sources with the New York Daily News also said that she was being “forced out.” Though an official termination has not been announced yet, one is expected this coming Tuesday.

Haslett-Rudiano reportedly skipped a step in normal procedure to prevent the removal of eligible voters when conducting a periodical purge of voters who had either died or moved away. This error resulted in the removal of nearly 8 percent of Brooklyn’s registered voters.

Clinton won Kings County, which houses Brooklyn, by 57,909 votes on Tuesday night.

Haslett-Rudiano’s dismissal comes on the heels of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s announcement of an official investigation into how New York City officials mishandled the election. “If necessary, we will initiate additional inquiries in additional areas of the State where voting irregularities appeared unusually high,” Schneiderman said in a statement issued the day after the primary.

Numerous complaints of voter suppression and election fraud came out of Brooklyn, where over 125,000 voters were removed from the rolls over a 5-month period between October 2015 and April 2016, causing public outcry in the days leading up to the primary. In addition to AG Schneiderman’s investigation, New York City comptroller Scott Stringer ordered a full audit of the City Board of Elections’ entire processes before polls had even closed.

“Why is it alleged that 125,000 people have been removed from the voter rolls? Why did 60,000 people receive notices to vote that didn’t have the primary date? Why were people told they were in the wrong polling place time and time again?” Stringer asked in an interview with CBS 2.

“The next president of the United States could very easily be decided tonight and yet the incompetence of the Board of Elections puts a cloud over these results,” Stringer added.

Could that really happen? Bernie seems too popular to get pushed away that easily. Who else could they prop up? Philadelphia would implode.

Anyone really. I'm 90% sure they're not required to pick Bernie if Hillary is arrested. He's not the VP or anything, he's a candidate. If for some reason Trump was decommissioned (likely an assassin), the RNC would be able to put someone they want in there.

The only way they pick Bernie is if the public support is overwhelming. Most of the DNC are elected officials, so they may feel they have to follow their constituents wishes even if they don't want Bernie in. They still want to get reelected.

If something disastrous did happen to Hillary's campaign that made her completely unelectable, there's NOOOOO way the DNC would nominate anyone else but Bernie. Obviously things are rigged against him, but they wouldn't go THAT far as to nominate someone who didn't get a single vote in the primaries. Way too much backlash.

That's what I think, but I didn't think they would go so far as to purge all these voters either, so I'm not sure.

All I know is that if people give up, and accept that Hillary will be the Dem nomination inevitably, it's a self fulfilling prophesy, then she will be. Don't let the media and all the fraud and suppression from the DNC get you down.

    Keep fighting the good fight.

I'm still supporting Bernie and holding out hope, but I honestly don't have enough faith to continue contributing my money and/or phone banking. It seems like he's raised enough money at this point and we're seeing diminishing returns in regards to how much it's actually helping. He outspent Hillary significantly in NY and it didn't make a difference. I made some calls on his behalf last weekend but the script didn't seem like it was even that effective.

It's on Bernie at this point. If he wants a chance, he has to hit her harder in the media and be more well prepared. In retrospect, he had a relatively poor performance in the New York debate. He should've had a plethora of evidence on some of her proposals that showed Wall Street influence. He should've known she would ask about his tax returns and had them ready to release prior to the debate so she wouldn't be able to distract the public from her speech transcripts. On the gun issue, he keeps rationally defending his stance that gun manufacturers that follow the law should not be held liable for gun violence. That obviously makes sense, but the way he frames his argument as defensive and confused over Hillary's attack comes off as weak in a way that he can't afford. He needs to redirect from that and instead express ideas he has to refine gun laws so that gun manufacturers/retailers need to be more careful with who they distribute guns to. He can still defend manufacturers from operating within the confines of the law, but with the epidemic we're facing, the laws do need to be altered or more strongly enforced.

Hillary and Trump won big last night.

Cruz has Fiorina as his VP nominee.

Trump is now calling Kasich "1 for 38 Kasich." I like Kasich, but that's funny.

Serious question: does this election open doors for celebrities like Kanye West or Madonna to run for President? Maybe Oprah Winfrey? You know they all probably have a good chance of winning now.

It's not this election. Studies have been done and the tallest nominee has won 90+%. I think Obama beating Romney might be the only time that's not true. Tall, good looks, tan on TV (Kennedy in particular).

Now it's a circus, so yeah, Kanye would fit right in. But he might be the most hated person in America, so I doubt he wins. Oprah definitely could.

Well apparently hate counts as votes as well, as two of the most hated candidates in recent memory are the leading candidates.

Trump had a decent 45 minute speech on foreign policy today. Sounded like someone wrote it for him, but Hillary's in trouble if Trump calms down the hate and lets people who actually know what they're talking about spell out the substance in his policies.

Trump and Hillary leading this thing. I can picture all the other countries of the world collectively laughing at us right now. It saddens me.

Boehner (sp?) just called Cruz "the devil" or something.

    Yikes.

    Politics is idiotic.
