I find this as sad as anyone who has ever used Hillary Clinton as a profile picture.

To be fair, I would be excited to meet any President, even Jimmy Carter. Not that excited though.

W was a god awful president but i would have loved to meet the guy

trump on the other hand, has drastically altered the high regard in which many people viewed the president in the past. that's mostly due to his own conduct as POTUS as well as the fact that he's surrounded himself with others, who like him are incompetent, unqualified, and bigoted. but then again, the fact that 60 million+ people voted for a reality TV star as their president and have given him pass after pass shows that americans really don't hold the office of POTUS in the high standard they think they do

We've had presidents I would not have visited in the White House. I certainly don't blame those who would not go see Trump.

The President was just liked by the small number of press people who dictate the tone of public discourse. They were scum.

Out of curiosity, who wouldn't you visit?

Honestly, I'd like to talk to all of them, maybe especially the ones I disagree with.

Hillary might have been the first I wasn't eager to have a conversation with if she'd run. Even with Trump, I'd love to have a conversation just to try to see what drives his thought processes and see how small things affect him.

I felt like Obama was fleecing people with lies from day 1 because he had speaking ability. I disagreed with his policies, and I would struggle to be cordial when I think of the damage I felt he did to the country long term. No reason to visit someone you don’t respect.

Side line: I think history will show he was one of our worst presidents ever.

It’s sad I have to feel that would be looked at as a race issue to bring it up though. Our country needed some change, but our federal debt was raised to preposterous proportions with very little result because any organization the size of the US government is completely and totally inefficient.

Healthcare is a sore spot for me. I’ve gone without healthcare for years due to “Obamacare”

Lots of lies told up front to get that passed. I’m not a fan of socialism, and no, if I’m willing to work 80 hours in a week, someone doesn’t deserve to make the same as me. I don’t understand how some people think, and it drives me nuts that elect people to manage the largest budgets in the world, and find many can’t manage their own finances or have never successfully run a Business.

I like some of what Trump is doing, but he has represented the office of the President so poorly, I’d probably shake his hand, squeeze it real tight, look him in the eyes, and tell him to put down the Twitter and quit embarrassing himself and the American people with his immaturity and narcissistic need to respond to little slights.

Not saying I would handle all the lies of fake news and the position of President any better. Best to just stay home and keep that all to myself.

I didn't like Obama's Presidency much either. I thought while he never made big enemies, he also didn't get much done outside of Healthcare and Healthcare is a massive topic of debate in terms of effectiveness (I'm not a fan).

I'd still meet with him though. I think it's generally important to talk to people with a different mindset than you have. It's always a good thing to hear the other side of the coin.

I’m not interested in being fired LOL

The reality is I don’t keep up with the topics enough to have a great conversation. Politics is a necessary evil, but what public figure out there do you really admire. So few and far apart.

Those guys are all masters of manipulation and persuasion, and would do their best spouting “facts” I could neither confirm nor deny and try to get me to justify my position on the topics. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

In the end I’d leave feeling dumb and confused. I prefer the feeling of biased hate. It suits me. :)

Gonna put this here, because I think the judgement (or lack thereof) was against Trump and his fight against Sanctuary Cities.

I just can't figure out how the jury came to this decision. He admitted to shooting her!!!

What would the outcome have been if the races were reversed? Imagine if he were a cop. While I find all of this interesting, I am more disappointed that he was let free (on the major charges).

I think Trump is his own worst enemy here, because instead of taking the high road, he constantly used tragedies to push his agendas. Or, in the case of re-tweeting Muslim violence videos the other day (allegedly fake videos at that), uses what he can find. I highly doubt he gives a crap about this woman

At the least the man is guilty of manslaughter. I still don't understand how you can possibly reach any other conclusion. A man with a history of problems just happens to find his way to a gun and then just happens to fire accidentally and happens to kill someone. I mean even if we look at it as the worst, most unlucky day of that poor girl's life and that man's life, that's still manslaughter.

He shot her at one of the Pier's in SF. They are ridiculously crowded with tourist. All of them. All the time. Odds are, if you shoot a gun there, you're gonna hit someone.

Feds have charged him Federally. We'll see if SF turns him over.

I just don't get it. He has a gun, even accidentally, on a crowded peer and it kills someone. How do you in good conscious not charge that man with at least manslaughter?

Is this an attempt at politicizing this girl's death? Because justice was certainly not served here.

Knee jerk I agree with all of this of course. But I read in Robin Abacarian's L.A. Times article today there was grainy security footage showing some people on that bench prior to the shooter coming and sitting down that appeared to be bending over and dealing with something under the bench. Then him arriving at some point later and doing something similar like picking it up. The shot that hit her was a wild ricochet off the surface of the pier and the gun had been stolen out of a law enforcement car by breaking in a day or so prior. So broccoli stems that jurors seem often to be combined with that footage and there you go. Tragic for the girl and family.
