Pretty pathetic when you would use your little girl as a prop for a political “point”.

Eh. I don't know. I think this is one of those nitpicky things. Considering the other things this administration is doing, him having a fun poke at Socialism isn't that bad. He's not even really attacking anyone in particular, just socialism on the whole. JK Rowling's response, while seemingly snappy on the surface, is actually just misdirection from the valid point the first tweet was making. Does Trump Jr. believe what Rowling said? Probably. But that doesn't make his tweet less true. That's the unfortunate thing about politics these days. When you know there is no answer and the other person told the truth, do a misdirect that has a personal attack in it and you "win" the argument.

Yeah I wasn't offended by this at all. I thought it was sort of funny. In a less contentious political climate, this is something to chuckle at and move on.

Well I'm sure some other little girls would be happy to "share" a piece of candy with the one girl in class "couldn't" go. And if every kid in her class just gave her one piece of candy, she would have "enough" to make her get on her feet, and have the motivation to excel and be like one of the other little girls that can share her candy.

Or maybe, instead of using all the candy that is used to run the class (taxes), to be used for that unnecessary class tank that they really didn't need, maybe every person in class would have some candy if it was distributed correctly.

Not saying I believe Socialism is all right, but there are some instances in which we need to help those who need it. And there are ways to redistribute the budget (looking at the military budget that's = that of the next 6 biggest military budgets in the world, combined), to use for things like aid for Veteran's, those in poverty trying to make ends meet, and education.

Wouldn't that train of thought be "putting American's first"? Or am I missing the point?

Again it's really not that serious. Taxes serve a purpose, but taking the amount of "candy" we do from the middle class is a bad thing for our country. Especially if you live in California where the majority of my tax money goes into the firepits in Huntington Beach.

I stand by what I said. Didn’t offend me, it’s just pathetic. I’d never use my child as a prop on social media to make a “joke” about politics, and I’m a nobody, not the president’s son.

DTJ just needs to feel he's not born with several silver spoons in his mouth. It's funny he thinks he's actually done something worthwhile to get where he is.

No, instead let's every house in the neighborhood give all the candy to one kid. She'll drop enough trying to carry it all home for every other kid.

Turning 1 million into 5-10 billion is very impressive. Like him or hate him, it's still impressive.

Give me a million at that age and I'd have had an amazing year and then been broke.

That's a horrid analogy for the people you're talking to.

Let's give more candy to the kids who worked hardest on their costumes, walked the farthest, and were the most polite.

My bad. The 3 oldest kids are accomplished, but yes, they definitely grew up with a silver spoon and owe 99% of success to their father and last name.

Supposed to be making fun of Jr.'s beliefs. Trickle down seems to be a favorite of his father's.

I'm just saying I won't support socialism just to tear down the Trumps. I don't particularly like them, but it was just a dumb joke. If Bernie made a sly comment on capitalism would anyone get upset?

The reason his quote pisses me off is because he's trying to make it seem like he knows jack all about hard work. Literally every person on this site does more in a day than this daddy's boy will ever do, and he's making it seem like he's accomplished his obscene wealth through hard work. Your example, unfortunately, isn't how the world works, either. If it was, this scumbag would be destitute, along with his father and their whole family.

Besides, Bernie hasn't had to make a sly remark. He's been pretty clear with who he's targeting. Of course that whole fear mongering "socialism" talk would be exactly why he'd not win in a general, either.

Again you're extrapolating your hatred of him into a broader discussion. Socialism is wrong and while it is debatable, I'm standing by that. Bernie was without a doubt a socialist fiscally speaking and that's why he would likely lose the election if he were the nominee. I'd prefer Bernie have won the nomination and on a humanitarian level I'd prefer him to Trump but I'm glad he's no President. The best of three had choices still would be bad.

I'll stop though. This is a circuitous argument and I'm sure you're more upset about Trump than anything so not much I can say will change your attitude towards this post.

Not sure where to put this, don't want to create a new thread, figure most will see it here.

And immediately the dude starts using a statistically insignificant fact to make an argument that anything more than a cursory analysis if the numbers would discredit. Of course blacks are killed at a higher rate by other blacks! As are whites killed by whites, Latinos killed by Latinos etc etc...
    1) Should we not hold cops to a higher standard than the average person?
    2) God either this person, or the person feeding him his numbers, is being intellectually dishonest, or he's an absolute moron. Who would have thought that a population of 75 million people, who are still largely segregated due to decades of racist redlining policies and impoverished partially because of those same policies, would attack and kill each other for control of the scant resources available to them at a higher rate than their overworked and underfunded police forces? Well gee, maybe it's a simple numbers thing. I couldn't watch that video for more than a few seconds, and I'm surprised you guys could put up with that drivel for as long as you did.
