He still catches the ball under the basket, yells "HUAAAARGHHHH", then scores. Some things never change.

He looks fine, but he’d get destroyed in the NBA. He’s 40, he can’t jump over a sheet of paper, he looked slow back when his contract was up with us in 2014. Love Pau, but no way would he make it, people complain about Marc being slow and done, Pau would get roasted.

Look, we all love him, and agree that 16 belongs in the rafters (remember, he helped us win #16), but he would have been a sad shadow of himself if we brought him back. I’m glad it never happened, even if the nostalgic in me sorta wanted it.

It's ok to love somebody and not want them on your team

That eventually happens to pretty much all greats. Nobody but Kobe was able to deliver an amazing final night in the NBA after so many seasons and being a shadow of himself for multiple seasons.

it would have been hard to watch Pau if he ever got on the floor

Just not the same cat any longer. His brother has much more game left.

Well deserved. Wonder if we can get Phil to show up for the ceremony.

Shouldn't even have to wait for HOF induction. But I don't know if they have done that in the past or not. This is a Lakers and NBA body of work / all star appearances / stats combined award IMO.

Sigh . . . Pau (and his jersey) retiring feels so bittersweet. Sort of like how when you lose a loved one, it hits the hardest on special occasions. I know someday I'll look back on Pau's time here and it'll make me smile. But for now, it's still rough. Probably gonna have to grab the tissues for the jersey ceremony.

Mama, that's gonna be one hell of an emotional day. Yeesh.

And I hope they put 16 right next to 24. If they do, expect even more tears

Wow, I had no idea Russ liked Pau that much. Always thought it was Kobe, but that was nice to hear him describe Pau's impact on him.

Glad to see Phil's reaction too
