was roo that hated around CL? i'll admit, the past couple seasons i wasn't as active on CL as before so i probably missed a lot but i definitely remember he and i never agreeing on anything on there and i know for a fact i wasn't the only one who can say that about him but it all makes sense now. he became "very ill" around the time CL started to die, then he "dies" almost right around the time this site starts to take off and once the season is about to start up again bonkers shows up. i know roo and barn had their issues in the past but did this guy have that big of an ego that he had to fake his own death to start posting here? i mean it's not like anyone told the guy he wasn't welcome here. this is still so extremely odd to me
Looks like bonkers was to proud to come here officialy. Oh well, good thing no one met him in real life, that could be dangerous.
I think you are all over analyzing all of this. Its the internet, people get bored and do manipulative things all the time. The anonymity of the internet has brought a hole new level to hate speech and "pranks"...
While that's true, it hasn't hit this site yet. This is the first truly weird incident of our new site. And while the Internet fosters lies and manipulation... this is still pretty weird to me.
I never got along with him but I respected that he brought different perspective to the site. He probably didn't see it that way.
He was very polarizing as you can see from this thread. Some people liked him and his posts, others thought he was a know it all blowheart, and generally an a**.
I really liked Roo. I took his "death" pretty hard. Which makes all this frustrating for me. I understand it's the internet, but we also build relationships with people. A certain level of trust develops that shouldn't be broken. Especially something as morbid as faking a death. In the end, I fully support Barns. He did what was in the best interest of the site, which I'm sure he will continue to do with each difficult decision. This would be a lot easier if the Lakers were playing and possibly winning a few games.
Some communities are rampant with that and it's maddening to me. I don't want to foster that kind of thing by allowing it to go by when we have concrete proof of deception.
I wasn't question your decision Barns, you as usual acted more than upright. I was just saying that analyzing this situation is fruitless. First of all the internet is full of this kind of nonsense, I am glad this board is not. Second is it even possible to understand the motives of a person who does this kind of thing? Elaborate scavenger hunt's are one thing, this is another....looks at sir...
wait a minute. sama trying to normalize this, yet he and roo have the same real life name. tell us it ain't so, old friend.
i get bored on the internet and i end up youtubing giraffes fighting...this dude faked his own death...invented a cousin and proceeded to talk about himself is that what bored 50yr olds do nowadays? mfr had a spreadsheet of his e-wins/losses for cryin out loud
no that is what a crazy person does, and sane people don't sit around trying to figure out why crazy people do what they do on the internet.
as demonstrated by my spelling and grammar. I am far to lazy and apathetic to accomplish half of this kind of fraud...Besides John and Sir have met me and with a witness like Sir how could I ever be doubted?
***Deletes other Bonk account*** Jk, I'm reformed. Most of the time. The Internet does spawn some interesting behavior, but there is a certain expectation of playful being playful, and real being real. I have pushed limits on occasion, but I don't think anything ever came across as hateful or harmful. At least I hope not. I didn't know Roo well at all, but saw he posted often and every site needs contributors of all types. Usually my thought was TLDR when I saw his posts, but many interacted with him regularly. Obviously an intelligent and successful man, and we all shared something in common. Being Laker fans. Either way, faking a death for no other reason it appears than to see reaction about it does seem to be Phil Jacksonesque (Narcissistic). If nothing else, it was in poor taste. When you have a community willing to embrace you, and let you stay even after that with a minor concession, and you choose to piss in the face of the type of guys we have running the place here instead, you become a former fellow Laker fan we can happily carry on without. In fact we thought we already were. RIP to Rooscooter and Bonkers, but best wishes to Mike. You had a good thing here brother, and I'm sorry you messed it up. Props to the staff and mods for handling things with class, patience, grace, and a big picture view like you always do.
