Trae shot under 44% in 5 of his 6 seasons. Averaged 4 TOs a game every single season. I don't think he should be #1 option over LeBron or AD (or Reaves lol) He's awful without the ball in his hands too as shown above. So I don't want him on-ball and off-ball lol
I feel like every guy I like is on a team that won't trade with us from the Bulls to the Cavs. Really putting a damper on my armchair GMing. I'd be interested in Mitchell or Allen from the Cavs though. Mitchell is a long shot, but maybe we can pry away Allen for a decent price to add some size. Trae seems to have so much smoke though. I think we're definitely working the phones on that one.
I've already met it and seen that movie unfold. Ending sucks. You want two players leaps and bounds better than him to take a back seat to him? I'd rather offer DLO that position when we beg him to stay. He's a much better fit and at a much better contract. Bron who picks his spots defensively, especially in the regular season, is supposed to get Trae to play better defense? AD will be too busy covering for Trae. I'm not even sure AD is quick enough at this stage to fly around the court to cover up for Trae and i think AD is the best defender in the entire league. That's why the Wemby pairing is such a no brainer, Wemby has inspector gadget length and still has that young man's speed. I agree. Only mentioned him cause you brought him up in the Bron on/off ball point. But he's the level player you go after, even if you miss, who's worth dumping the chest out for. Like I said in transaction thread, I'm not giving up s*** for Trae (but you have to strictly from a salary perspective)
rui and gabe did very little for us last year. if there's a way to keep vando and reaves and add young with minimal outgoing draft capital (or just lotto-protected picks), i'm open to it.
for young? his value is at its lowest point right now, imo. reverse westbrook situation in that regard. i think they'll hang onto him and sell high on murray (this is what i'd do if were gm in atl).
Trae is a better player than Murray, if he's at an all time low, now is the time to buy. I don't know if we are going to do it, but somebody will be getting a high end talent, on the cheap( relatively speaking).
As abeer has said the perfect fit on defense and offense which will be frightening is SA pairing him with Wemby.
in a vacuum? yes. murray's the better fit for our roster and an easier guy to plug in, plus makes substantially less money--great as a third star type. i just think he might actually fetch more on the trade market right now, which might play into atl's hands in multiple ways. yeah, this seems like a good idea for SA. again, not sure if atlanta goes for it when there will be good offers coming in for murray. not that i have much trust in atl's FO (even though it's new), but they're actually in an advantageous situation, imo. they're a seller in a seller's market, and losing one of their two best pieces--even for very little--might actually enhance their on-court product. it highlights how bad the move for murray was, though. if i'm atlanta, i'm playing those offers against each other until i get myself a 2nd/3rd tier star that fits better with young and then getting some dumb team to buy capela right before he croaks.
If I’m the GM, AD and Vando are the only two guys you can’t touch. Everyone else I’m listening to offers for.
i'm vando's biggest fan, and he's not untouchable for me at all. he just missed an entire season. that's not good. maybe he recovers and is a bargain at 10 per. maybe he's dead money for four years. and lebron is obviously untouchable unless he asks out. if i'm rob/jeanie/whomever is making decisions, i'd be very careful about any move that impacts things beyond next year. we have no choice but to try to compete next year, even if that means another year of scratching and clawing for the play-in. but after that, we will have LOTS of options for how to proceed, imo. choices we make this summer could limit those options, and i don't want to do that.
After watching these playoffs, Vando types are a rare commodity. A healthy Vando and we possibly push Denver a little further in the deep waters. Sure would’ve been nice to have him chase MPJ around. AR actually did a respectable job on Murray. Rui s***ting the bed defensively vs MPJ cost us big time.
yeah, but denver beat us with vando in part because they didn't guard him, too. i see what you're saying--and again, i'm a big vando fan. he's just not untouchable for me. the mavs picked derrick jones off the scrap heap last year. there has to be more out there like that.
not really, Derrick Jones is playing same role to perfection, maybe not on Vando lvl on Def but his 3pt shot making and athleticism is far superior, he makes $2.7M
he's going to get a big raise this offseason, though. this is the point. not having vando really hurt us all year long.
