Good win. Glad Swaggy's back. Minus Wesley, the team performed well. 2-0 against the Eastern Conference. That trend will continue...that conference is so weak it's pathetic.
Well, to be fair real, Lin was also very aggressive and usually when he is good things happen. Plus Booz actually made his shots and that's also good news. But yeah, I think Young is our second best player and he really showed it last night. I liked his effort on D as well. From now on Wes should be getting a lot less minutes, and that's a great thing.
Well it's a domino effect the way I see it. Young brings positive energy to the floor and he's a guy Kobe trusts. When Kobe has a guy he can trust, the ball moves a lot more, and EVERYBODY feels better. That's not to say Kobe won't/didn't/can't pass the ball. It just means that when he DOES pass the ball, the guy who receives the pass is more confident in himself and more confident in the next pass he has to make. Boozer coming alive I think will happen once every few games. He's got a pretty decent old man game, but he needs an unathletic guy guarding him to be effective and there's few of those around these days. Lin coming alive is again I feel like sometimes he rolls out of the right side of the bed once or twice a week and feels better about himself. Neither of them will be consistent which is why I don't see us winning a ton of games even with Young back. But Young's antics really bring another level of joy to the team that was missing from them. It's fun again when you play with Nick. Sure he's going to shoot a lot, but he's going to do crazy things while he does.
Very true, real. Yeah, I liked what James Worthy was talking about which mirrors what you just said - the team needed a little "Happy" going for it, and that's the intangible element (though it really is tangible actually on the court) that Swaggy P brings us. The Booz thing is very frustrating because as well as he shot the ball he did give up equal points to Millsap on the other end. I think he's the guy who needs to be sacrificed at this point to the bench, even with his good offensive showing last night. Lin would be more effective consistently with Ed Davis on the floor with him. But since Booz responded offensively last night I don't think Byron will make that move yet. It's the right one though. I'm ok with Wes still in the starting role as long as Swaggy is in at the end like he was last night. Swag just needs more minutes than Wes. A lot more. That should shore up the SF position. But to really beef up the starting squad, bringing in Davis is the thing to do. It would make us so much better on both ends of the floor, especially since Hill has shown he can hit the mid-range shot this year. He wasn't doing that consistently before now. It's kind of a game changer really. With Hill hitting that it opens up some spacing and would make it easier to move Booz to the bench.
I agree with you. I thought Boozer played about as well as he can though and that's got to be acknowledged. He and Millsap really went at it and Boozer held his own. Unfortunately he won't hold his own most nights against starting PFs. He should move to the bench and be our option there. I think he'd be more competitive against bench competition. Maybe if he starts he gets pulled early for Davis and then takes the spot of our low post threat against 2nd units.
^^ Agreed, real. It would really help our team. Booz just isn't consistent enough on offense and is horrible on the D. He's much better suited on our team to provide that scoring punch off the bench. I wish Byron would implement this move, but I doubt he will unless we keep losing games. It would be ideal though. Really the only thing stopping this I think is Booz's veteran status. But it would be much better for us.
We've had the hardest schedule in the league so far. Our SOS (Strength of Schedule) is at 3.58 so we're not quite as bad as our record suggests. Hopefully, with the return of Nick Young and an incoming easier schedule, we'll start rolling in some wins.
Well Byron made the threat already that he's willing to make moves in the starting lineup. Everyone knows that means the only guaranteed spot is Kobe's. I don't think Boozer and Lin will suddenly be consistent every game, but hopefully they show up like this more than two times every eleven games.
Boozer had a good game last night. Showed great effort, and had it going on the offensive side of the ball. Lets not get it twisted, Millsap is a baller(Also a free agent I would like to go out for IF the $ is right). Im definitely not going to over-react though after one game, like the rest of our team D, I want to see it on a consistent basis so im curious to see how he does tonight against Terrence Jones who had a career night like last game(Along with Ariza due to our perimeter/rotational D). If Jones shows hes going to have his way then I hope Scott quickly pulls the plug. Im optimistic though if we hold Jones and Ariza back from having career type nights which is always happening to the Lakers it seems like haha, we have a great shot.
Wooo! Man my DVR quit w/26 secs left. Aaagh. Scrappy game. I was grinning. Loving the sudden intensity. Great win on the road guys. Compete!
2 in a row; we beat Houston, and every loss they have, it moves their pick up for us. Let's end this road trip undefeated and go beat Dallas.
Hahaha. Don't know which made me happier, this one or game 7 against the C Bags... Been too long since I've felt the elation of a satisfying win I guess.
So happy about this win. Houston is my most hated team this season. Great to see us beat them at home!!
