Actually, I'm also optimistic we will have a new coach soon. I like Luke but he is still young. I'd take Mark Jackson right now with no hesitation.
For such a terrible loss there were a lot of good things to take from it. Russell looks a little better, more comfortable with his shots and would have had more assists if people would catch and score them. Hibbert is our only defense and he is going to get beat by quicker/rangier big guys but his FTs are solid. Clarkson is our best/most consistent player. Lou has been solid and doing what we pay him to do. Huertas and Young is a good combo, Huertas finds Young constantly in good position too. Lastly, Gametime chat is fun... suffering together!
Clarkson man, rock solid. Not trying to knock Kobe, but realistically if he weren't out there with Clarkson he'd probably be taking over even more and becoming the leader of this team. Also, Hibbert with the 5 blocks. He can't cover for everyone, but he is our only real defense, he's doing all he can. I also think Young is playing better than many expected, certainly myself included. Lastly, it was garbage time, but A Brown played a solid few minutes. Nice defensive play, a 3, I liked his attitude at least, out there doing his job, getting to his spots, looked happy to be playing at all.
Clarkson is the only bright spot in this team... even as early as Summer League. I'm sure the FA signings this season would be a bright spot too if they can just be used properly...
We'll be hearing Adam Silver saying this next June: "With the number 1 pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select Ben Simmons of Louisiana State University"
It's good that Byron is such a Defensive minded coach or SAC would've score 100 on us in the 1st Half..
Hard to say since I know nothing of the coming draft class, but if we end up landing him (or a talent like him) it will be hard to be mad at the big picture. Kobe will be off the books, Byron (hopefully) fired, and a lot of young, talented, and coachable guys. But that will mean another year of misery...horrible, horrible misery. I much rather preferred the thought that THIS year would be the upslope year. I was hoping for that vibe we had when Fish came back to the team, Ariza was dunking on Grant Hills, and Bynum was coming into his own. I remember a game where they beat the Sonics thanks to some great play from Bynum. Kobe said "we're a championship caliber team when he plays like that" in the on-court interview. Now I realize how long ago that was because the Sonics were still a team and it was pre-Pau. But you know, that hopeful, "hey we got some character guys and some game to back it up" thing...I want that.
He's nowhere near the athlete of a young LeBron. Again what kind of message does that send to free agents and our own players to just tank a season and not try and win games?
