Optimism Discussion: The Laker's Sky Is Not Falling

I actually agree with this. He's going to be a star.

 

I've always liked Howie Kendrick.

 

I just feel like given the strength of our brand, it won't take much to get people excited enough to purchase his jersey. Top 5 that quickly is optimistic, but I do see it happening at some point.

I think Brook is every bit as excited as the rookies and wow what a great facility. State of the art first class no expense spared Everything. This too in addition to the positive selling mind meld of Magic, Luke and Rob in FA meetings, I suspect going forward is going to be overwhelming when weighed against other teams. Dollars being in same ballpark and team being competitive.

 

I could be making this up but I remember reading or watching something where they visited a bunch of practice facilities of all different sports and took the best ideas from them to build this one. They wanted to be the best of the best for the players.

I know people are gun shy but with the management team, coaching staff and young players we have it is time to stand up and dance if you are a Laker fan. Soon we will be stomping teams and having fun doing it.. All my Laker hater friends are about to get crushed.

 

Can't believe the dark cloud that was over this place that's been lifted. I think the Radiohead song with the line "For a minute there, I lost myself" should be our new anthem. Karma Police, fitting. Even with our old facilities we should have been the premier team to arrive at. The history, Staples, our rep with player handling. No one has played longer with one team than Kobe Bryant, think about that, with his ego and let's face it, more than a bit of attitude in his younger days the Lakers still managed to keep him for 20 years. Probably a good part of that was his agent, now our GM, saying "Hey, there's no better place to go to". Now he's applying that same pitch to others. Backed by Magic Johnson saying the same thing.

What I hope with players like Lopez and Hill (if he signs) is that they take their big money this year and then sign for the room exception and mid level exception on 1+1s, just to make room for the 2 FA max signings, then we can up their contract a bit the following year when we can go over the cap and tax. Brook has had his big money contract (117 mil career) will be 30 when this one expires I could see him agreeing in the right situation to the 1 year pay cut with promise for more. But Hill has made only 45 mil and you gotta figure he's looking to cash in even though he is 31.
