That's where you start the negotiation, not where you finish it. ;)

You'd pass on Randle/Clarkson for Paul George?

    Why?

And keep in mind I'm a big time Randle defender around these parts.

Which the Pacers would obviously reject. If they are trading George then it means they are taking a step back, thus taking back Lou doesn't make much sense for them (esp. when they already have Monta Ellis/Rodney Stuckey). They also don't really need Randle either with Thaddeus Young and Lavoy Allen at PF.

If the Lakers keep their Top 3 pick then an offer built around #3 and Russell could be a plausible scenario.

I think George is a 22-23ppg game. I don't think he's got the mentality (maybe that's not the word, neither is drive) but I don't see him as a 28-29ppg guy.

I just think Randle has the talent to be a 19/10 type guy.
Clarkson..i like (and would be open to trading) I think he's a 14-16ppg in this roll..and if starting would be in the 18ppg range.

I dunno..I'm not really answering your question. I admit.

I do like George but yea..maybe I would. :Dfunny:

    You're nuts Oak if you'd pass on Randle/Clarkson for George. We're talking about a legitimate star (22.6ppg 6rpg 3.3apg 1.7spg 45.1fg% 38.5 3fg%) who is in his prime (turning 27 in May).

    Lakers can go Russell-Ingram-George-Nance-Zubac :Noddingyes:

The Pacers would be the ones who'd scoff at that offer.
While Randle/Clarkson may have 18ppg/19ppg potential, George is a proven 22/23ppg scorer and we need that level of scoring.

Trust me, I think Randle has the tools to be a huge impact guy. He needs seasoning like any of our kids, but he's got a lot of natural tools. I don't know if his ceiling is 19/10, but I think he can be a 15/10/3 guy with a steal or two a game. He's shown me a lot and that he has a lot more work to do. I think he could fit well with Clarkson/Randle/Turner being a building block. If we got the #1-3 pick in there... look out. That's a heck of a young core to build around in Indiana. Meanwhile we'd have Russell/Ingram/George/Nance Jr./Zubac and if we still have cap room to add players too.

Yea, I'll meet in between and say Randle can be a 17ish-10-3 guy.

I wouldn't even consider Russell & Ingram for George.

I'd like Russell, Hayward, Ingram, Randle, Zubac, Clarkson and top 3 pick

I think Randle just needs to slow down. Even when he attacks the basket he's in that bull rush mode, and misses high percentage shots. He doesn't have to tone it down to Z-Bo type slow..just change the pace. Push it on the break..but in a set..just slow down and hit the high percentage shot. If he'd do that and hit that elbow jumper..he can be in the 17-18ppg guy.

Offensively I agree completely. Defensively he needs just mounds of work. I'd also like if Luke forced him to make contact on his screens. Zubac sets these fantastic wide screens, but Julius hardly ever makes contact and when he does he gets a lot of offensive fouls. He's got miles to go in help defense situations too.

I'd love Hayward. I think he's underrated even today when he's an All-Star, but I don't see any scenario where he chooses to sign in LA this summer.

Agreed on Julius's screens. That's because he's going to fast. It's all about pace for Randle. He wants to set it and roll or pop out. By not staying still or holding his screen..he's getting called. If he just go over there, hold the screen, let player with the ball rub off..then roll or pop..he'd be much more effective. Big Z already has that down

As every Laker fan would but that's asking a lot: The Pacers to accept a low ball offer, the Lakers to land the top 3 pick and for Hayward to choose the Lakers over staying in Utah for more money or joining a legitimate title contender that has his college coach in Boston.

Then again, this is the Optimism Thread.

Keeping the same direction this thread is going , yeah I think the trade deadline would be a great time to sell as all of young players have shown flashes this season .

I'd try to make a deal build around a Julius-JC package too ...

I was very optimistic last night after watching the game. We had that game and all the momentum and I remember exactly the possession that swung it the other way. We had the game tied up finally and Jason Smith launched a 3 from the corner (next to the Lakers bench). We failed to get the defensive rebound a Wall hit a 3. What's funny/sad is that after that our next 3 offensive possessions we all got great, fantastic looks from 3 but couldn't hit them.

We had our chances down the stretch and even after those 3's from Wall in the final minute of play we had a chance but turned it over even though I still think Black got hit in the head as he complained to the refs about.

Our intensity and effort in the 2nd half particularly in the late 3rd, early 4th quarter was phenomenal. I could really see that our players cared.

Must win game tonight, I hope our guys show up. Lakers and C Bags currently tied for most wins and it's no coincidence we play them tonight.

...and trying to figure out how to play at this level. We've handled opponent's runs where it wasn't to the point where the game was out of reach. There was one sequence tonight where we had a chance to trim the deficit to four and we settled for four straight treys instead of taking it to the rim or shooting makeable mid-range shots. Inexperience at full display.
