We need to make the playoffs

    1) To try to up Westbrook trade value
    2) A hard fought 6-7 game series loss can improve optics
    3) Increase trade value and improve experience of young guys like THT, Reaves and Johnson.

he counted toward the tax, though, and his salary was greater than the difference between caruso's chicago offer and ours.

the deng stretch was a bad choice, and it pissed me off at the time. i knew it would have implications like that. he could have been turned into smaller long-term bad contracts, which could have been repurposed in other trades, or we could have just used his expiring in an eventual move. stretch/waive only works if that money is used wisely, and we didn't have to move off him to get lebron, which was our only proper use of cap space.

Ok with all of this drama and craziness I’m going on a contrary positive note. We get Melo back very soon, maybe even tomorrow, Russ goes beast mode with a lot to prove, the team plays better and ramps up while AD heals up. We get AD back in mid to late March, followed by Nunn. We make the playin and get through it. We play Suns first round without CP3 with his annual injury and pay them back for last year. After that who knows? Maybe even get to the WCF against GS. Stranger things have happened.

West could be interesting if Green doesn't get back for GS or if CP3 is on ice too long for the Suns. Not saying that opens the door for us, we have enough injury issues of our own to start looking at the urinal next to us. But in context of the West, wonder who could be this year's Phoenix? Grizz?

you mean a team that basically gets through the west by default due to injuries? i could see memphis. i would say utah, but their stars' chemistry bothers me.

the 5 and 6 seeds in the west both have an mvp-caliber, player, too.

An expected outcome (loss) against a very good team. But I found it really entertaining. Saw some good things especially in that comeback. Unlike others I don’t hate this Lakers team and I enjoy them when they give effort. Obviously the blowout loss to the Pelicans sucked. But the close losses to the Clippers and Mavs were tough finishes but really watchable games. Of course they need to actually get some wins at some point or there won’t be a post season. We shall see.

i need to watch the second half. i thought the first was brutal, so they must have really picked it up to make it a game. starting reaves and johnson is a positive.

    Here's some optimism...

All the teams behind the blazers (11th seed) keep losing...and the blazers have a tough schedule coming up?

We may be losing, but maybe the current 11-15 teams just continue losing and we don't really lose any ground?

So as long as we stay the 10th seed...and we get AD back healthy in a few weeks...maybe we pull it off?

I mean yes - the Pelicans crushed us. But I think we can take them in ONE game right?

After that, it's Twolves or Clippers...I think Clippers beat the Twolves, so we likely face the Twolves for the 8th seed?

IDK - even though we're losing a bunch of games right now, surely we'll eventually...stop losing? Or does this get worse? lol

This thread should be jettisoned to next year. The Lakers have the hardest schedule in the NBA for the remaining 20 games. With that, I am predicting that they will be out of the play in by the 10th game at the latest and that will signal the downfall to NO play in or playoffs for this season. I hope the Lakers can focus on doing some leg work on the next coach and if Lebron wants to sign the extension in August, I hope his stupid a** can be a leader when s*** gets tough and also respect the next coach that comes it so everyone can fall in line.
