Hell, if players were allowed to shoot with their head and feet, he'd have been multidexterous.

A cursory search confirms this. I guess you can if you want. Hell, if it's cool in baseball, why not?

One of my teammates in a semi-pro league some 30 years ago wasn't able to catch my lob somehow, but he managed to hit it with his head and score soccer-style. Off the glass. It's a legit move in basketball, but it's hard to do and there are no advantages of trying to do it on purpose, since you can't control the ball well. Still, it does happen, once in a blue moon. I think the only illegal move is throwing the ball at your opponent's head in order to injure him. That's a foul, or a tech when appropriate. Other than that... yeah, it's OK. You can do it in many sports, like volleyball, for example.

semi-related: my dad said he used to play in a gym in chicago in the 70s with a bunch of badass mofos, and there was the regular who was a big fella by gym standards (6'4", 240 or something), older (like 50), bald, etc., who could clear space on a drop step and bounce the ball into the basket. he could do back to the basket, too, iirc. so it seemed like he's throwing a bounce pass to a cutter, and instead...bucket. totally nuts.

closest i saw in my day was this old japanese guy who was about 5'10" but had an array of post moves that would boggle the mind. his go-to was simply shooting it backwards over his head. i never blocked one--despite knowing it was coming--and i was always sort of super thrilled to be scored on in this fashion.

believe he called himself "icy", which i think is my phonetic translation of his name in light of his game.

edit: all the gym denizens called me bobby hurley, which pissed me off at the time (i would fancy myself an iverson or, then, maybe a kenny anderson) but seems apt in retrospect.

What really has me optimistic is that none of these old players want to come in out of shape and look washed up with this collection of hall of famers and all stars. I think we get the best version of each. I think Carmelo is going to crank the clock way back. As the year before we are playing against ourselves. We play right, we win. Nothing any other team can do.

with this many big names, you could see things going 2 very different ways

    1. We got this. So many studs, who can possibly compete with us. = Not put in the work to be at their very best.

    2. We have a great opportunity. Let's all sacrifice and take advantage of this and win a championship no matter what. Let's do whatever it takes.

Like you, hoping for number 2.

3rd option is some sort of malaise. A little too many injuries. A little too much ego. A little too little chemistry.

Yes, it won't be like the Legends All-Star Game where EMT's and defibrillators would be on standby...

The regular season is going to be messy and the coaching staff has a tough assignment to figure out how to make this team work... BUT I can't wait to see them in the playoffs. Thats when all the experience will come in handy to beat these young teams on the up and up.

AND its been so fun to the media try and wrap their heads around this team. Constantly bringing up how we lost in the first round (without mentioning the injuries of course) but how we're going to win the West next season even though we failed the offseason. Or the constant flip flopping between super team and washed team. I love it!

^Mediots DON'T want to mention the injuries because it pokes holes in their own pieces. They know it and WE know it. Sad and funny at the same time.
