Maybe Kawhi is just handling his business the way AD (Klutch actually) should have handled his in getting to the Lakers. Just keep his mouth shut about it and then do it. I hope he froze his nuts off there this winter and wants no part of it and no part of the Clippers as well.

A little worried about how they are going to leverage Lee Jenkins's serious skills in this whole process. Maybe to counter the Lakers should see if Bill Plaschke would be interested in joining up with us?

It'd be more than just forgiveness. I would be the one apologizing for doubting them and needing THEIR forgiveness.

Lebron/Kawhi/Ingram/Ball is defensive buzzsaw. But my feeling is if we did this, Ingram and Ball are gone for AD. I can't blame management for that either. With the prospect of Kyrie and KD teaming up in NY (thereby taking Boston out of the picture for AD), an Ingram/Ball 2 future picks package likely becomes the best package for New Orleans...probably by a significant margin. Hopefully we can hold onto Kuz and Hart to give us some depth. Rondo gets resigned with the room exception. I'd like to think we could get another center deal like we did with McGee this season so we could start Center/AD/Lebron/Kawhi/Rondo and bring Kuz and Hart off the bench. Then our end game lineup is probably AD/Lebron/Kuz/Kawhi/Hart (since Lebron will be handling the ball in crunch time and Rondo can't shoot).

Well, for what it’s worth IGS thinks we end up with Kawhi and Beal along with keeping Ball and either Ingram or Kuz.

I don't see how we could add Beal without giving up both Ingram and Ball. Salaries alone would need to match somewhat. If we keep Ball, Ingram and Kuz are both gone. But if we're being honest, Beal/Kawhi/Lebron is a better fit than AD/Kawhi/Lebron

Couldn’t we throw in picks to make it work?

Yes that seems to be the more likely scenario, and I would be fine with that too. It's just that keeping some youth on those cheap contracts around 2 stars - at least to me - seems like the better solution short and long term. I am pretty sure Magic disagrees though and we end up shipping next to everybody out on the quest for the most stars we can possibly assemble.

If we do the trade being suggested where it's Beal, we might be able to keep one or even two of them. Kuzma/Kawhi/Beal is a nice post Lebron trio. I actually like Ingram too because if you have Kawhi and Ingram, I think you can get away with Beal at pg (he's played a little there in the past) since that's 3 guys who can all bring the ball up court. And in today's NBA, a traditional pound-the-ball point guard is no longer necessary. If our opening day roster next season is McGee/Lebron/Ingram/Kawhi/Beal with Hart off the bench, I'd create a Magic Johnson shrine on my front porch.

I want post BBB Lonzo and BI here next year. At some point not yet reached by our FO you draw a line in the sand and say the all star talent in the making you have in house already on early contracts is worth more and with higher future ceiling than 2nd tier stars on the market now.

Keep Lonzo, Hart and Ingram. Everyone else not named LeBron can be traded. If we sign Kawhi, I would offer kuz, 2 firsts, and whatever is needed to get a trade for AD (minus the untouchables mentioned).

Kuz and 3 first rounders is not landing AD. Those first rounders (other than this season's) would undoubtedly be low if we have Kawhi and Ingram already on the roster to where the Pelicans would be adding AD. At least one of Ball or Ingram would need to be added to Kuz and those firsts. If all we do is sign Kawhi, and then get some good role players that can shoot to fill out the roster, we have a shot at a ring next year. I'm working under the assumption KD is leaving and the Warriors become mortal again. AD isn't needed. Would I like to have a 4 man core of Lebron/Kawhi/AD/Ingram? Of course. But I am not going to look at this offseason and get my hopes up that we will get two home runs in a month's time. If we land Kawhi and get our kids healthy to where they take another step forward, that'll be enough to make us title contenders again.

There still shouldn’t be any untouchable players on our team. You keep some youth if you can but no one should be deemed unmovable especially for guys like Davis.

Just don’t give up the whole team for one guy.

No one is untouchable on this team when it comes to AD. How much to give up for him is another question. However, this is a salary cap league so you have to also think about whom you can pay the max to and still field a 14 man roster.

If Kawhi came to the Lakers, then trading the core for AD is a no brainer. Lebron, AD and Kawhi win the title next year if the Lakers get a half way decent coach.

We play too well lately. Is that optimism or WMC?

It's nice to win games no matter what... Clips and Jazz had disastrous losses that affect their seedings

We get a chance to pitch a "new" franchise to potential free agents.

Even if we did strike out, we will have new leadership making decisions about which role players will surround LBJ and the kids. Maginka had shown no inclination that they learned from their previous moves.

We’ve got cap room, a lotto pick, good young prospects and one of the best to ever play. Bring in a real executive and get things back on track.
