We had it to within 2-6 in the 3rd to 4th quarter for a long a** stretch. Kuz was robbed of a possible 3 pt play, after that it always just seemed like the refs were always favoring Boston. If game gets tied up/we take any lead i wonder if it changes the outcome.

Anyhoot im liking what I'm seeing from the boys. Definitely content and feeling good about the direction...player development included.

It is hard to not feel good about the direction we are going. My main gripe the past few seasons was lack of effort and the look of us not really caring if we lost. No team play. Those things have changed. All young coaches have to find their way and will make mistakes. However, Luke has shown a big jump from year one to year two. Big improvement in players and coaching along with some good rooks. Very promising.

I think we have to be looking into any shooters out there.

I'm a giver and in spite of getting ready to go outside and get filthy with a bunch of leaves and yard work needing to be taken care of before the first rains and the Lakers / Bucks game in a few hours with no time for a shower .... I am going to physically read and type a couple of letters that finally give me optimism for the choices of the Editor of the L.A. Times Saturday Letters section of the Sports page. :Fishwink:

    1. "So the professional Ball is shooting 29%. The college Ball is under house arrest in Shanghai for shoplifting. The high school Ball is being home-schooled in grammar by a father who described the Shanghai situation as 'it ain't no big deal.' I hope the shoes are selling."

    2. "So Luol Deng is upset he is not being used the way he thought he would be when he signed a $72 million dollar deal with the Lakers. He needs to thank his lucky stars he found someone dumb enough, Jim Buss of course, to pay him $71.99 million more than he was worth. Sure, Deng can walk away from what he is owed and take a stand for what he believes in. I'd sooner bet on Lavar Ball staying quiet for 30 seconds than of that happening."

^^^ Personally I would have reversed the bets but you get the picture. Maybe it was a substitute Letters section editor this week?

Even the losses this year give me hope. When we are down big we fight back. When we are losing it's mostly by single digits rather than the 20 point blowouts we have gotten used to over these past years. It's heartening. They are getting better. Baby steps. We've got talent. We're just young and our coach is too.

it's been fun to watch despite the sub .500 record. if that continues, i'll spend more time here than in the wmc thread.

Their owner has been historically cheap. It's a good point, but we'll see if they've finally learned to pay their bills. Remember this is the same team that traded away Harden and Ibaka to avoid big bills. But then they paid astronomical amounts to Adams and Oladipo so... Sort of a mixed bag.

i think the assumption that melo will opt in may not be accurate and may dramatically influence the cap numbers. i can see melo opting out and taking a long term, lower money deal, either in okc or somewhere else.

i also think they can shed adams' salary in a pinch. might have to add something, but adams is a useful starting center who has really improved over time and is still young.

but yes, they can't keep everyone at his current price. you can also bet that they won't let the financial stuff get in the way of making george a max offer. someone might benefit from the ensuing firesale in any case.

If Carmelo opts out this summer, OKC will still have his Cap Hold for 39.4 million dollars. They'll also have George's 29.3 million dollar cap hold. With just Westbrook's salary of 35.35 million, they're already over the salary cap.

If they were able to trade Adams for no money in return and waived Carmelo's Bird Rights, they're still at around 96-97 million dollars with George's cap hold. They're definitely an awkward position this summer. If Carmelo opts into his contract, they're going to be completely hamstrung.

Carmelo's market would be sort of interesting this summer. Is anyone going to offer him a giant deal? Is anyone going to offer him a deal worth enough to opt out?

Yeah I felt Kuz didn't embarrass himself at all considering the weight and strength differential. Randle had his moments and Lonzo got him once too right above? (on phone)
