Wolves in a winnable game tonight at home against the Wizards, who are without both Bradley Beal and Paul Pierce. Plus the Wolves have the emotional lift of KG coming back tonight. Come on Minny, get the win! Knicks and Sixers too, although the Sixers are already playing a tanktacular game and I doubt we can catch them anyway.

Didn't hurt, but didn't help either. Not a good game for the tank.

Its Orlando we need to keep an eye on as well. Its a real bummer they lost in OT to the Heat.

Not really a big deal. Best case scenario is we jump to 3rd and with how Minny is playing now, it's not a matter of if, it's when they pass us.

I'm so happy about these meaningless wins. The ultimate capper on the worst Laker season I've ever seen would be to lose a top 5 draft pick, I would just love that. Oh wait, wrong thread, this isn't the sarcasm thread, sorry.

Awful win. Feels like last year all over again. When are they going to figure it out?

Nights like tonight are why there was an argument to move Hill, Lin, etc at the deadline, even for minimal return. Not saying keeping them was the wrong move, but them helping win games we shouldn't and putting the pick at risk is a big reason to trade them.

Without Hill this game would've been a much needed loss.

So, since 2001, the team in the pre-lottery position of 4th has fallen out of the top 5 a total of 3 times; 2001, 2010, 2011. Not bad odds; posted this in the draft thread. Currently a 3 game lead cushion over Orlando and we play Minny twice which I think we'll probably split games with.

Minny's 5-5 in their last ten, with those losses coming to CLE/DAL/ATL/GSW/HOU, nearly all of them close games. They're good.

    They'll pass us, too. :)

Hill has now done us in twice in a month. Chicago and the Jazz.

It really is hard to watch the games at this point. The team is terrible, but they are killing their own shot at redemption. The difference between 4th and 3rd is enormous, not just for keeping the pick but also for winning the lottery.

It's like watching Mikey Rourke pick death in the wrestling ring over a relationship with his daughter. Somewhere deep down he knows it's the wrong decision but he's so screwed up he can't get out of his own way. The audience squirms watching him needlessly hurl himself off the top rope and into oblivion...that moment is the equivalent of every Laker win right now.

Lol ok maybe not quite that bad, but still, I can't help but feel like for some reason this team enjoys torturing their fans. They have been so bad, and the only thing that could be any worse is the team winning now and losing their pick...so that's what they are set on doing.

As long as we keep that Top 5 pick, I'm not going to worry about where it lands. There's 5 guys in this draft I'd be ecstatic to land. Each player presents a lot of different options in free agency. Our FO has a phenomenal track record with top 10 draft picks so as long as we don't get screwed by the lottery balls, I'm good.

We're DUMBER than i thought. Gotta love these pointless wins... and then see us all pray to the ping pong balls god to be on our side. Why not take care of our own faith and stop the chance of the NBA screwing us again?

Missed last nights game, but I will just say I am going to be beyond upset if these games cost us a draft pick. I still think we end up 3rd or 4th but i dont understand risking the pick with these meaningless wins.

Instead of being mad at the players, some of you guys should direct the hate towards Mitch and the FO. The players are playing for a job next season, Mitch is the one who carelessly put incredibly stupid protections on the pick.

If we lose the pick, it won't be because of the players that are doing their jobs, it will be because Mitch didn't do his.

Oh absolutely, I'm primarily frustrated with Byron right now. I've preached patience with him all season but over the past two games he has left the hot hand on the floor during crunch time (against the C Bags it was Lin/Wes, last night it was Hill). He's also cut Kelly's minutes down and benched Tarik Black. Given the state of our team all of these decisions are completely and totally indefensible, especially since they have resulted in 2 wins that should not have happened.

If it weren't for Byron the Lakers would be tied with Minnesota right now in the win column and be in a good position to take the 3rd spot. The difference between the 3rd and 4th spot is massive both in terms of keeping the pick and winning the lottery. Byron has done a ton of damage to the Lakers franchise over the last few games, and that's something that can't be quickly forgotten or forgiven.

Yeah, I don't blame the players. Most of them are auditioning for jobs next season. That's the problem when most of your roster has guys hitting free agency this summer. Mitch should've moved Hill, even if it was only for a future 2nd round pick. Don't get me started on Scott. He's clueless right now.
