Cause our mgmt still relies on our history as their sales pitch rather than what they have planned for the future

Last night's game is the polar opposite of how we started the season. Zero professional pride right now on this team. It's not "just one game" anymore. It's several as well as a plethora of games last year where they gave up. Maybe Byron wasn't as bad as we thought. Right now, I'd keep Nance and Ingram and start making and taking offers on EVERYBODY else.

I disagree. I'd like to move Lou. Maybe we can send him to a contender for a late first rounder.

The spacing on this team is the worst of all time and maybe bad enough to create an actual black hole on the court.

I feel like none of our vets are building blocks for the future. We need to let them expire or move for expirings, future draft picks, or young talent with potential.

Lou is expressionless, so he isn't emoticon worthy :Fishwink:. Either way, at his age, and with our direction, it's obvious he isn't a big difference maker. You definitely flip him for an asset. No brainer. He's our best trade chip that we are most likely willing to part with.

Nick is Nick. Great he's having a great year, but at his core, he'll never change. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Deng. Great idea in theory, but it hasn't worked like they thought. 4 years of this? [IMG] [IMG]

Mozgov. When he got the Laker contract offer, he was like..... [IMG] [IMG] Just praying he passed his physical. Nice guy, decent effort, but not a building block for the future.

These guys? Roster filler. None of these guys have any game left unfortunately.

Talent-wise, this team is nowhere near as bad as they've been playing since the 10-10 start (outside of a few nice games). Are they a .500 team like they showed those first 20 games? No way. They were clearly overachieving and it seems maybe caught a few good team off-guard. Are they lose by 50 to the Mavs bad though? No freaking way! "They're just not good enough" is false IMO.

You can blame youth, injuries, and that awesome article pointing out the legit reasons why they've struggled defensively. Those are all valid. But last night may have pulled back the curtain to something else.

Something else is going on. What is it? IDK. Has Luke lost the team? I doubt it, but maybe. They seem to really like him and respect him. I don't think they're tuning him out. His schemes and philosophies seem ok. There's no mojo, confidence, passion, or heart. There's no more "I love basketball!" They look like they're going through the motions with apathy. Have they just accepted their fate as losers and given up? Is the NBA just a big joke to some of these young guys? Are they really just spoiled millenials content to get $millions, so they don't put their heart and soul into the game? Someone accurately vented about the lack of pride in the purple and gold and what it means to be a Laker in the gameday chat. There doesn't seem to be any of that, but why?

Is the entire organization in turnoil with these reports about Jeanie auditioning for new management? Maybe the young players feel like this organization is a freaking joke, so what's there to play for? I know in the business world, instability trickles down to productivity. Maybe the Jim/Jeanie b.s. is getting worse and worse behind the scenes as the season progresses and the players know/feel it, but we don't, so we're on the outside looking in like; "wtf is draining these kids' mojo?"

There really isn't a presence on the team anyone can really rally around. There isn't a true leader on the floor...yet.

D'Angelo is too immature, Randle's inconsistent effort is detrimental...that leaves BI.

It took him about halfway through his season at Duke to really become the player that shot him up draft rankings. Coach K really had to dig into him to get it going, but he got there.

BI has been slow to adapt to the NBA level, but he's starting to turn a corner a bit, and I think he'll emerge as the alpha.

No, B0ron was as bad as we thought, worst coach in NBA history. That said, I agree with you to an extent, I'd start looking at trades. Not for Russ or Randle too though, Russ, Randle, Ingram, and Nance for me are all keepers for the moment, because they are on cheap deals and we won't get anything good for them at this point. To me, Ingram is pretty untouchable as I see most potential in him, and I'm not saying the other guys are, I just think their trade value is low right now so we're better off continuing to develop them at least until their rookie deals are up, or almost up. 1 1/2 seasons is too early to give up on Russ and Randle for me.

I get the feeling lately some people here (not you specificaly, I mean in general) are so impatient they'd have traded Kobe in season 2, "15 and 3 in 26 minutes as a sophomore?! Terrible, trade him!". Clearly Russ isn't Kobe, but it's too early to give up on him, especially since I don't think you get a player as good as him by trading him. I don't think you can get equal value for Russ and Randle by trading them, so why do it just to do it, you know? I don't think even packaged they get us a star, but as they are now together on this team they are very solid players in year 2.

But for me, I'd be all over trying to move Deng and Lou if we could, and even Nick if his trade value has gone back up. These guys are not part of our future, they won't be around when we're good again, and since Deng isn't the leader he was brought in to be, I'd trade him first chance I got if some contender could use his services. Same with Lou and Nick, fun to watch at times, but I'd rather move on and go full rebuild, let Lou go to a playoff team if possible. I don't know who would want these guys, but IF anyone does I'd explore it. I don't even bring up Mozgov because I can't see anyone taking on that contract, but if they would I'd toss him in a second, awful signing. We can't really be worse than we are, and if these vets aren't being leaders that take us to any wins or a winning attitude, ship em out.

I think my biggest problem with Randle/Clarkson/Russell is how quickly they give up. The great ones (not just Kobe) had some professional pride in their early years. Sure they made mistakes. Kobe airballed 3 threes in his rookie campaign, but you knew he WANTED it and wouldn't just roll over. Durant, Westbrook, the Thunder had some ugly games when they were starting out, but they didn't seemingly quit. And what makes it even more puzzling is in the beginning of the season they didn't quit. They'd get down and fight back. So when they have slow starts or things aren't going their way right now they KNOW (since they've done it before) they can work their way back into the game, but they just don't. It's almost like since they had that rough stretch with the tough schedule and injuries, they figure they can't make the playoffs so what does one extra loss really matter? All they hear is they are the Lakers future and they seem to think it's preordained.

I've said this over the off season (maybe not here but with my buddies for sure), we have a bright young coach, a bunch of young talents, a handful of vets, what we need now is for the front office to get their crap together. Jeanie and Jim need to figure their s*** out or they need to both go. The constant pissing match between the two publicly trickles down and will affect the team somehow.

Can't listen to this right now. What does the complete title say? He wants to what? I'm sure Kobe wants to know too as he glances at LB when he's not making big dollar business deals ....

Why did espnla replace the Thompson and Trudell shownwith Stephen A Smith? It's two hours of him yelling his opinions. It's just him too so there's no discussion going on. And when he does take phone calls, he'll usually interrupt the caller anyways.

Luckily T&T are still on for an hour, and there's Mason and Ireland in the afternoon.

ESPN 710 is a dumpster fire now. They only show I can stand for more than 10 minutes is Mason and Ireland. The Keyshawn/Sedano/LZ show is awful. Keyshawn is so unprepared. He just talks about how things were "back in the day" in NFL when he played. Sedano is factually wrong CONSTANTLY. LZ is OK when he speaks, but he's more quiet than the other two. Then he will start to make a salient point and Sedano will butt in and make a joke about it or derail him. If you take Stephen A Smith and add Kim Kardashian, you'd pretty much have everything wrong with today's media. Marcellus and Kelvin does not work. Max was a good foil to Wiley, but I get this feeling that Kelvin is just using this as a stop to try to propel him to something bigger. I get the same feeling from him that I did from Ryan Seacrest waaaaay back in the day when he was the afternoon drive host on Star 98.7. It's really sad. Unless I happen to be in my car at lunch (not often) 710 is essentially dead to me.
