hill's really important to them, and i'm not sure your points don't indirectly support mine in that had hill played more games, they'd have won more games (i don't think they miss favors, exum, or diaw much when they're out). some support:

anyway, my larger point stands: no one's playing worse basketball than the lakers right now, as the mavs helped demonstrate most recently.

I hate that somewhere in the dark every night Boron is getting off on the losses and lack of defensive improvement following his embarrassment when the team came out of the gates 7-5.

They should be sold asap but it's for another discussion .

It's two seasons from now . As of now there is sadly no guarantee we won't suck during the 2018-2019 season.

So Isaiah Thomas scored 52 points in a win tonight (29 in the 4th), is averaging 27 and 6 on the season. Sure glad we didn't waste any money on such mediocrity and instead went after franchise changers like Melo.

Isiah Thomas ..... Ugh! The guy was begging to be signed by the Lakers.

Imagine him on the team. He'd be the #1 option and shot creator down the stretch.

    24 millions for 4 seasons was/is the contract .

This has to be the 1st time I almost feel bad for a millionaire .

I doubt he'll get paid for what he deserves in Summer 2018 because of his size ( rightfully so to some extent but still unfair when some scrubs are making 15 m + a year)

i also wanted thomas that summer. the real killer was that he WANTED to be a laker. now, i did not predict THIS from him, but still...that was an obvious mistake, even at the time.

I said after both the Mosgov and Deng contract that the buss family should sell the team but got hate for it. But after tanking the past few years and saving the FA money then wasting it on duds like Mosgov and Deng... The team needs to be sold the buss "KIDS" can't run a basketball team.

the thomas decision was frustrating in part because it was such a low salary demand at which they balked.

my only issue with moz and deng at this point (now that deng's head seems out of his a**) is that they're each one year longer than they should have been. but in this market, they're both 15 million per players. this is post-cap explosion; evan turner and allen crabbe get that money...on the same team!

anyway, it's not all ownership; mitch and luke were involved in these decisions, too. can't fire everyone. they still have a max slot next summer should they need it, so this isn't really killing flexibility. you'd just hope it would lead to a few more wins. early on, it looked like it might.

I think this is on the front office and Mitch's inability to see/anticipate the cap increase.

Or .... they were still operating on the plan where they needed the money for this year after the cap went up for signing 2 max pay stars because .... we're the Lakers. Not a good assessment either.

With literally average level defense we have several more wins now.

I get it. We passed on good players, missed on others. We should've drafted so and so. Guys are taking too long to develop. Etc etc.

But this is a solid group we've managed to trip and stumble our way too. There is talent here. Luke and the staff have got to get them committed to playing defense and bringing consistent effort for a full game like we were at the beginning of the season.

I have no pb with the draft , we did very well ... I wish people would STFU about Porzingis over DAR unless you have proof at draft time you wanted Zingis ...

Free agency has been horrible though . It took us 2 summers to go away from the superstars or bust mentality stupidity

As for the Deng/Mozgov signings , it both should have been 3 years contracts but I guess you can't be picky when you just won 17 games .

I still think we need someone with a better vision than the Buss kids

It sort of hurt that the new CBA didn't have an amnesty written in. Would have been nice to jettison a contract if we had a chance at some major FA.

There's still a decent chance the Lakers can go on a run and look like an attractive FA destination, but I'm not sure there's going to be much interest this summer from major players anyway.

I think we're 2 summers away from a FA signing. But I think we're on the right track. Develop the young guys, win 30 games this year and hopefully get to .500 next year and sniff at the playoffs. Then pray for a Paul George signing. Move Ingram to the 1, Russell to the 2, PG at SF, Randle/Nance at 4 and some small ball 5, Moz/Zu/Black at 5.

Concerned about signing a free-agent star when our team is already going to be in the Finals next year.

I mean, how do we know they will fit in?

A lot of our mid-term future depends on the improvement of our defense whether it comes from the young guys or by additions .

We are so far away I wouldn't wait for long to make some moves in this direction if I were the Lakers FO
