    Our 3 point shooting late in the game last night was horrific. We got a ton of open looks but just couldn't knock them down.

    All of these are good looks. Just could not convert

    That's the biggest key to the game to me. We had a ton of open 3's and missed them.

    I'm more worried about how this team is going to respond to the pressure of the playoffs making shots like that than anything else.

    yeah, i mean, if they all miss those shots, then we were wrong about whom we targeted in FA--particularly green. but until then, i think folks should tap the brakes. kuz, green, and even kcp have made big open threes--just this year! they all missed them in one game that everyone watched and cared about. maybe that continues, maybe the clips lose them again and pay for it. i just don't see the lopsided matchup that everyone else is seeing.

    This. Many want to trade DG14 because he's not hitting his 3s consistently in the REGULAR season. The guy is a 2 time champ and a Finals MVP if Ray Allen missed a last second three. The same with Avery. These guys have the specialized skills to clamp down people in a 7 game series.

    When Darius Soriano admits it , you know you have to worry

    Not a single person is seeing a lopsided matchup , not one ... Kawhi delivered in both games , Bron and AD didn't .

    Simple as that .

    Don't expect KCP and Kuz to be clutch in the playoffs , Green , maybe but he's been far from his 2013 and 2014 level when it comes to hitting clutch 3s for quite some time.

    Our 2 best players have to be better , no excuses

    Your interpretation of soriano’s piece is also different than mine.

    tbh, if all it comes down to is who has the top player, I guess you should have tuned out when Kawhi signed with the jv.

    i really don't undertand "no excuses" as an actual philosophy of life. there are often very sensible excuses (reasons) for things not working out in a desired fashion other than "you just aren't good enough!". i mean this in ways that extend beyond basketball games, but it's true here.

    soriano outlines things that weren't working for us that might be another time. in may, maybe ol' calcifying leg is banged up and lebron is feeling better. maybe AD decides to live in the paint because either a) his knee and shoulder aren't feeling as bad or b) he knows he only has a few more games to play on them, instead of 60-70 more.

    sorry, when you lose by a few points in december, it's not time to make sweeping generalizations about how everything's going to go.

    and btw, if you do, then lac should be wetting themselves about playing houston, who is, by this forum's logic, going to represent the west in the finals. for sure.

    McGee, Bradley, and Green were the only net negatives tonight.

    The stat isn't always that accurate, but tonight that seems like a fair indicator of their play. I wonder if the starting lineup has changes in store, or if Frank's move is to keep units together so there is some firepower on the 2nd unit.

    Green's defense has been pretty good, but don't expect his 3pt accuracy to improve in the postseason.

    Regular vs postseason 3pt%
    2017: 37.9% --> 34.2%
    2018: 36.3% --> 25%
    2019: 45.5% --> 32.8%

    Danny Green, by far, has been the worst value on our team. We signed him for championship leadership, defense, and three-ball. Defensively, he's still very good. But I'm sick and tired of him missing wide open threes. No one is close to him and he just seems to find a way to miss. Last season, he shot 46% from three. I did not expect that again but to see him shoot sub 40% is highly discouraging. Many Toronto fans had warned that he was a streaky shooter and at the beginning of the season, I did state that Danny Green was overpaid. I just hope that he can find a way to be more consistent because he's the sole reason why we aren't able to make trade moves with his $15 million salary.

    Danny Green definitely needs to get it together. He's had some very good games for us, but lately a lot of stinkers.

    Some episodes you have to let Robin shine.
    :Noddingyes:
    But the original song goes like this:

    Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg
    Bat mobile lost a wheel, and the Joker got away
    Hey!

    but deep down you know that I’m right that Kuzma will be our best closer and the most ballsy shooter on the team

    My secondary and low level WMC from the Phoenix game last night in Game Time was the out of nowhere "I'm Spartacus" moment with OX shifting gears from Jordan being number 1 and Kobe 1A and then 3 or 4 others chiming in with Kobe was better than MJ. Because of what it fueled.

    I don't think it's debatable that MJ was the better player. That said, Kobe Bryant is the closest thing to Mike in ALL aspects both sides of the ball, all around skills and absolute alpha personalities that the NBA is EVER going to see again. Because no one is ever going to work as hard as Bryant again for as long as he played to take what he learned from Mike's game to similar levels and in some respects higher levels with some of those skills.

    I think the "moment" was prompted from my primary WMC which was the stupid logic coming from two guys in @BangBoomPow and @nzahir that were clearly not Lakers fans all these years watching what Kobe did, how he played, with the best in the history of the game IMO polished all around skills ....... and all of the injuries over the years he just played through and shrugged off.

    Mike had him on stronger body with even more athleticism than Kobe's own elite athleticism .... and those giant hands that required no cupping of the ball with the wrist up above the rim. Mike 6 rings - Kobe 5. Stats during playoff runs .... whatever.

    But for a guy who grew up I'm guessing a Jordan and then Lebron fan somewhere else other than following the Lakers .... and being only 23 now in nzahir and having followed Lebron here I'm guessing, and BBP, (not knowing his age but guessing same background and trek to become a Lakers fan now) (whatever both of their reasons to be here) ....... to be s******g all over Kobe in Game Time last night was a troll fest of the highest order with the mocking of members who actually watched him play, and claiming Bryant was not even in the conversation with Jordan, let alone for IMO #2 all time in the league for the reasons stated in paragraph 2 (if Mike's number 1 and he IS) and you both can piss off for it. Get a clue!

    You would have had to root for him and actually watch all the games over that 20 year span to actually know just how good he was.

    So confrontational these days.

    :Kobe Snickering:

    Game Time wasn’t so enjoyable last night, so hopefully that moment passed. Lots of unnecessary personal insults flying around. but now that we know that members can be banned just from gametime chat, and I’m sure since moderators were in the chat, if it were to continue, we would not see some of the same people there again.
