Without trading Lou, we don’t get the 28th pick/Hart or Kuz depending on how you look at it...and by default, we don’t crash for the #2pick/Zo.

And no matter how you look at it, the principles of the AD trade were going to be those 1st round picks no matter who they ended up being.

So the Kcp vs Lou debate is kinda...

in an alternate universe, we could have built like the clippers and PG and kawhi would be here now. i was for that plan, even back then. i'm ok with where we're at, but i think it happened via dumb luck, mostly.

not sure ballmer gets credit--unless it's for hiring competent FO folks and staying out of the way? i think a less enthusiastic/invested but equally open pocket-booked owner could do same, in other words.

anyway, we're here. despite last night's game (which wasn't the blowout that people seem to already be remembering), i think we're good enough to beat that team in a series come may/june. plus, so much can and will happen between now and then that trying to speculate based on it is pretty useless. i highly doubt the lakers won't have come up with a way to play better offense with AD and lebron on the floor, for example. i also expect that one or both teams will have to deal with major injuries, the timing of which will likely decide any playoff meetings more than the x's, o's or roster issues we're discussing now.

Lol it's only game 1! We still have 81 games to go, our chemistry is going to get better and better, I'm glad we lost its the wake up call we need.

We're going to need some roster changes; not many, but there are needs i.e. Mainly a big wing that can defend (Iggy)...

If you can have a Green and Iggy (add in Kuz in spurts) then I think we're more balanced going forward

I think a good point guard, not older and broke down, would be helpful. I don’t think LeBron at point all season is a good idea. I don’t see Cook and Caruso being able to handle that either.

I haven’t watched him in a while, but he needs good handles with a decent b-ball IQ to facilitate the offense. I recall he had good handles, but not sure about his confidence.

Lebron needs to not be passive. If he takes charge and attacks we win that game. I'm sure of it

he posted consecutive triple doubles several times with pelicans, but its not like we got resources to get anyone we want. we just need someone who can handle n setup guys, which he can do

disappointing game all the way around

it was hard to find positives out there, but Zubac did look decent.

    Our team just got slapped

He actually wasn't being passive. They bogged down the paint every time Lebron drove to the basket.

The Clippers game plan was putting a bigger defender on Lebron, giving him open perimeter looks and bogged down the paint every time he drove past his man. This caused a few turnovers by Bron when he tried to pass out of traffic. If we had Kuz last night, I would imagine Vogel puting Kuz at Center when Davis was resting to give Bron some room to navigate in the paint. Howard clogged up the paint all night, plus Bron was laying up bricks left and right so they weren't giving him any respect with his shots.

with no post up game to speak of

and poor to limited isolation skills

    mediocre handles

    and declining athleticism

I expect to see more pedestrian performances like this. Every other game or three. Last year is as good as he will ever look again. There is no time machine. Dude has more miles on his legs than Madonna's hooha.

I 100% agree with you. Lebron game is pretty damn predictable when his shots are not falling. I thought he over-dribbled on a few possessions last night which caused some bad shots. On some of the possessions, he tried to force feed AD and caused a few turnovers. I gave him a C- for last night game. He did make some great play of the defensive end though.

Intensity, turnovers, missing wide open shots (except Green)

We were on the wrong side of those and the reason why we lost. It’s amazing how bad professional athletes can be at making an inbounds pass.

Game 1 it’s something to work on
Must win games/playoffs people need to be fired

Did not like Vogel not breaking rotations and not playing matchups (Lou/AB, Kawhi/Green). Need a larger sample size but Troy Daniels, Dudley, KCP should not be playing clutch minutes.

Need Kuz back big time for the second unit.

I wonder if LeBron over force feeding AD is related to his multiple statements of “running the offense through AD”. Duh, but hear me out. I thought it may have been summer lip service to ease any worries that LeBron would eclipse AD. So I wonder if this force feeding is just like a temporary welcoming of good will by LeBron and not necessarily a season long strategy. He’s supposed to be a basketball genius but that offense looked idiotic. Maybe he’ll be more aggressive LeBron as time goes on?

Secondly, green or LeBron needs to be guarding elite sfs at all times. If that’s too tiring for LeBron, let rondo or Caruso play more playmaker for games with elite scoring wings taller than 6’6.

The Lakers need to play Davis more as a screener in the high post if they want to exploit that P&R...placing Davis in the paint makes sense if you can throw him the ball and he can own his guy down low.

I think both can work, mixing both is even better. But placing Davis down low and trying to play P&R is kind of dumb. Then we went into force feeding mode, the Clippers threw their bodies in the passing lanes and we got owned.
