I literally made that post above honking how good and much stronger he was going to be physically and the excitement that meant for him as a player on the Lakers with Stars coming ..... and my next stop was the Lonzo thread where I found out about the injury. OK f*** me. What in the world with this guy? Any word on how it happened or just has been bugging him again all the time and they evaluated it again?

I think we should get rid of Lonzo as well. His Dad is an enormous distraction, and I can't ever see his jump shot becoming consistent with that release. It's just not a repeatable motion. You can get away with it in college where he's 7 inches taller than the dude guarding him, but in the pros where everything has to be done much faster, that shot will suffer.

I think we could get Kemba Walker for maybe Lonzo, Zu and a pick. Kemba isn't ideal as he is sort of a poor man's Kyrie. But Lebron and Kyrie beat the Warriors.

Walker, right now, is better than Lonzo. Walker + Lebron + Cousins (at 85% of what he was pre-injury) could be a nice (but flawed) big three. Where we make up for it is we still have Ingram, Kuz, and Hart to compliment them.

Based on that talk about us looking at Dame, Beal, Wall, etc. I remembered his game winner in against Houston in the playoffs 4 yrs. ago. I thought that was his only game winner. Little did I know, Dame is clutch!

edit: ugh! How could I forget the winner over BI :(

I'm trying to prepare my body, but I keep throwing up inside at the thought of this happening.

I can’t handle lazy Melo. But I fear they may need to get him to keep him from going to a rival.

I keep hearing about Melo, and no, just hell no. First of all, where are the minutes for him? We have LeBron, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Stephenson, all wing-type players (and we also added Svi and Mo can play some 4 too I’m sure). Ingram and Kuzma were both more efficient and better defenders than Melo last season, and I expect them to be even better this year. There’s no room for this guy. We need to re-sign Brook Lopez and that’s about it, Melo is not needed, he can go to Houston and ruin their chemistry.

Besides being one of the worst rated defenders (considering our team's theme, that alone is enough to say no to him), the offensive stat below pretty much sums up Melo to me:

He's moved away from the basket as time has gone on. Problem is, he can't shoot away from the basket. Look at his attempts from 0-3 feet during the '03-'04 season (which gradually decreased for years) compared to last season:

    '03-'04 - % of shots 0-3 ft from the hoop = .452
    '17-'18 - % of shots 0-3 ft from the hoop = .120

He stopped going to the rim several years ago. He's worked his way outside away from contact but his jumper doesn't justify it. From 3-10 feet he's .329 FG%

    Now look at LBJ's:

    '03-'04 - % of shots 0-3 ft from the hoop = .315
    '17-'18 - % of shots 0-3 ft from the hoop = .423

He worked his way inside yet ALL of his shots from ALL distances have improved.

Carmelo is not an answer to anything. He moans that he changed his game and sacrificed for OKC and isn't appreciated. Please, let him go to Houston. Help him in any way. If there is a fund I could donate to in order to get him there, please let me know.

Damn, I can’t really tell the difference from one jersey to the next. Color trim around the arms maybe. The pics look good and can’t wait to actually see him in action wearing that jersey. Pre-season coverage of the Lakers is going to be like playoffs. Can’t wait...
