Official: Unsubstantiated Trade Suggestions, Speculation, And Rumors

Rumor is Philly wants both Simmons and Ingram (who doesn't?). They are offering Okafor and our #1 next year for the #2.

I'd do it.

Reasoning: Okafor can play. He's proven that. We don't know what the college kids will do. And we get that #1 back which could be a lottery pick again.

If Okafor had the college season he had last year and was coming out this year, he'd likely be the #1 pick.

Last reason: those mitts!

 

I'm going to hard hard pass. Keep in mind whatever pick we get is likely to be in the teens. I think Ingram is still our best bet.

Definitely something I kick around though.

 

Lakers Rumors from Chad Ford, ESPN

The trade proposal Ford is talking about involved the Sixers sending Okafor and the Lakers' 2017 pick back to Los Angeles for the No. 2 overall pick, giving Philadelphia the top two picks in this year's draft.


Some group on FaceBook called WorldWide Laker Gang is reporting Chad Ford said this. they have almost 1/2 a million people following them.

 

This is what I found on ESPN in regard to Okafor and Chad Ford:

‎Sources describe Okafor, at this early juncture, as the most likely of the two to be moved in the wake of his rocky rookie season off the floor.

But the Sixers are known to be considering a wide range of possibilities, given the prospect of fellow lottery picks Embiid and Saric finally making their Philadelphia debuts next season to add to the Sixers' deep frontcourt and the well-chronicled concerns about whether Okafor and Noel can play together.

After winning the recent draft lottery, Philadelphia is in the process of choosing whether to take LSU's Ben Simmons or Duke's Brandon Ingram with the first overall pick.

Among the options the Sixers have is trying to trade Okafor or Noel for another high pick in the looming draft to address their backcourt needs or building a package around either one in a trade for veteran talent, either in June or in July after free agency starts.

 

Yeah the big issue is does he fit with what he have now?

I wanted him last year because I love me some dominant big men. This kid is going to stuff stat sheets for a long time. The problem is: can he play the uptempo style of basketball we're trying to play and can he be a rim protector? I think the answer to those is either "never" or "not right now" so I'm not sure it's a good fit.

I like him a lot though obviously. I would have taken him last year, but now? I'm just not sure it's a good fit with the roster as we go forward. We'd do better with a Center who can either take a jumper or protect the rim (preferably both but that describes almost no one).

 

I agree with everything you said. I do wonder if the GS model is the best course of action. IMO, if Cleveland was healthy last year, they're the champs. OKC has a couple big men who aren't really that skilled who are giving GS fits. Like you said, we need a rim protector. I don't think Okafor is that right now and he might not ever be. But a good starting point is his size. It'll always be a big mans league.

It's a no for me. Okafor doesn't seem to have the transcendent type of upper end that Simmons night and Ingram seems to have. I like Okafor, and I wanted us to draft him last year. I'm glad we didn't, as I think Russ is a gem, and I wouldn't want to trade the pick now. We need a defender down low. That ain't Okafor.
