Kobe needed a Rubio type for the first 19 years of his career. But now that we have Clarkson, not sure why we'd go that route....unless we see Clarkson moving to the 2 at some point. hmmmm

It's hard coming to grips when someone tries to pay you what they think you will be worth vs how you view yourself at your best. Rude awakening for all professional athletes.

Of course, he's no Kobe Bryant that can command more than double that and is even older. :)

I'd much rather trade for Lawson than Rubio. I like the idea of a Lin + 27 + 34 sign and trade. The good news is we don't have to package Black + filler as Savory suggested because salaries don't have to match. But I wouldn't mind dumping Kelly and Sacre on them if they're open to that. Lawson at 11M per year makes much more sense to me than some of these ridiculous overpays that are going to take place this summer in anticipation of the cap rising.

Does that mean we have Kobe guarding opposing teams SF, because I wouldn't be opposed to do that if Kobe adds 3-5 pounds of muscle and can actually get away with it. If he gets in foul trouble? We're hopefully gonna keep him limited with minutes any hoot and swaggy is the first guy off the bench.

Y'all wanna keep other two picks and tAke BPA? Trade up? Or trade awAy for proven players?

At this stage of Kobe's career there no way he adds 3-5 pounds of muscle. He wants to keep as much weight off his knees and legs to help mitigate any chance of injury.

I knew I was gonna hear something like that, then that means he has to drop 3-5 extra pounds of fat and replace with muscle. He'll do it if he has to and wants to keep Clark on the floor to start if we sign another 1/2.

After further considering the trade, I think D'antoni would want Young & Sacre as they both had the best seasons of their careers under him. So we'd have an even bigger hole at SF but free up around 6M dumping Young & Sacre.

I wouldn't change up our draft strategy with the #2, I think we'd address SF through Free Agency & possibly buy a late pick & hope for another Clarkson(we might even be able to keep #34). I like Anthony Brown, Tokoto, & Diez as late picks to gamble on. Lawson only makes 11.5M, offset by the roughly 7M in salary we unload with Young, Sacre, #27. So we're really only eating 4-5M into our cap space. We'd still have around 18-19M to spend.

Of course we'd try for Butler & Middleton, after that goes nowhere we'd have to weigh the options of paying a premium for a guy like Tobias Harris, Carroll, or Danny Green vs. going for cheaper options & filling more holes. Given that Lawson gives us 2nd option level production, I'd probably opt for cheaper role players at SF. Guys like Afflalo, Gerald Green, & Dunleavy + a young guy like K.J. McDaniels. That still leaves us enough space to add another solid backup big for our young guys(Biyombo).

    Gerald Green (5M)
    Dunleavy (3M)
    McDaniels (2M)
    Biyombo (5M)

    Lawson/Clarkson
    Kobe/McDaniels
    Green/Dunleavy/Anthony Brown
    Randle/Black/Kelly
    Towns or Okafor/Biyombo

Would still leave us with 2-3M to add a 3rd string PG. Probably someone like Aaron Brooks. I wouldn't mind buying a late pick to grab Andrew Harrison now that his stock is slipping.

I was saying in the Draft thread, we should keep an eye on Orlando at #5. If they take Winslow, we should make a hard push at Harris right away. A very talented 22 year old sf who would no longer be needed if they had Winslow and Gordon at that spot.

Trade Young, a resigned Lin and the 27th pick to Denver for Lawson.

    Lawson (12.4)/Clarkson (.9)/Price (.5)
    Kobe (25)/Clarkson/Brown (.9)
    Harris (14)/Dunleavy (3)
    Randle (3.2)/Kelly (1.7)
    Okafor (4.3)/Black (.9)/34th pick (.5)

That team is young and pretty versatile. Good bench unit. If Kobe can manage to stay healthy, I honestly think they could challenge for one of the last two playoff seeds.

I think the problem is teams know if they have to, they'll overpay a lil and resign/match their guy even if they have a guy in the wings to eventually replace him, due to the simple fact they know they'll still have the option to get something in return at any given time.

There this Chicago local sports reporter on Twitter posting from an unverified account that is saying the Lakers are looking at trading Jordan Hill and Nick Young to the Bulls.

Now it's unverified and realistically I haven't been able to get a FOR SURE answer that this account is real.

But I've done some due diligence and either this fake account has duped the WWE official verified account and the Ronald House Charity of Chicago official verified account, or this dude is legit and is just a small time dude not really out there to break news and build his Twitter brand.

The guy used to work for the WWE...and it's an assumption, but I imagine they would have got the Twitter handle from the man himself. The shortened link also goes to a little post about him on WWE.com where they had spoken with him for the story - would they really get a false twitter account from the man himself?

Same with the Ronald House Charity of Chicago and that was after they had been with him that same day.

Another WWE fan site tweets about him and some speculate if it's a real account since it isn't verified, but check out the follow up answer

Guy is either a genius troll or the Lakers might end up with a great boost in Snell and Gibson.

Screw it, tweeted to about 10 different people at NBC Chicago to try and get verification on this account so I can stop tripping about this potential game changer of a deal.
