Until theres a show or movie that ties the stories together (MCU, Netflix, ABC) its safe to assume that the other people are busy with their own things. Otherwise whats stopping Iron Man from swinging by Hell's Kitchen to pewpew some people? For us comic book fans, we'd like for everything to be connected more than the occasional mention but thats a lot of jumping through hoops for the producers, writers and company heads.
It's about effort to me. The two (TV and Cinema) are completely separated at this point and it's obvious in the execution. Agents of SHIELD and Defenders have 100% more continuity than the shows do chasing around what's happening on the big screen.
1. I agree 1000%. I was warned that Scott Buck was a hack as a showrunner and I blew it off, but boy does it show. The tone of the show swings too much. I didn't like the mental hospital angle. I understand the fits Danny has, but when I picture it as a writer I think of like you said: in a lot of ways he's still a child. In my mind when he starts to lose it, it's sort of like a tantrum and he struggles to keep his emotions in check. I would understand that angle, but they never dive into that. They skate around it. I feel like he should be the one who revels most in this hero nature of what they're doing because a) he's been trained for it and b) he's the one who still acts like a child. 2. Again agreed 1000%. Some fights are just awful, some are pretty good. The fights get better as the show goes on. My understanding is that Finn Jones had only 15 minutes to learn the choreography between takes. What the heck is that? After it took DD almost 20 attempts to get that first hallway scene right, we're talking about 15 minutes a fight for a show centered around a Kung Fu master? That's insulting in a lot of ways. 3. I'm still on the fence about Finn. I don't blame him for the shows issues, but I wasn't in love with him as Danny either. I'm willing to continue giving him a shot. Personally I think the 2nd half of the show is far and away better than the 1st half. The choreography improves, the characters arc more, and things get into more of a rhythm. Keep me updated on your take!
1. the hospital angle would have been ok for a brief story, but that just drug out WAY TOOO LONG. That could have been one episode... not 4. 3. I blame the writers and production crew for it. There are times he does well. But he doesn't look or talk right. Its like watch the prequels, good actors acting out crap writing. I am looking forward to the second half as by all accounts its better.
Saw Guardians this morning, it was okay. Wasn't boring, had some enjoyable moments, but it wasn't spectacular like the first one.
I saw it last night! I loved it. It's funnier than most will expect. It's always going to be hard to recapture some of the magic the first one had, but I had an absolute blast in the theater. I'd watch it again.
I did like the characters and their developments but some of the "jokes" ran longer than necessary. Maybe I'll like it more if I didn't watch it after such a long week.
No I hear you. There's definitely more humor than expected. I figure some people would think it's too much.
Episodes 1-4 are a struggle to me. It frees up a little around 5--6 and keeps me just interested enough until the end.
I don't think it's as bad as folks say. I just think it gets compared to he other three which are excellent in many ways Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I agree definitely with that. I think the problem is missed opportunity, not really, really bad product.
I think the fights I've seen so far are just bad. I don't know if they have a s***ty fight coordinator, the dude that plays Danny needs a lot more training, but it's pretty unacceptable right now. Fighting is supposed to be Ironfist's thing. Above all else this show can't suck at fight scenes
From what the actor said the fight scenes were horrifically rushed... And it shows.... He said on many he would only get a few hours to practice the scenes in the morning to shoot that afternoon and that shows. Some are ok, most are mediocre, and some are just completely laughable. I really wish they would have watched "Samurai Champloo" and "Big Trouble in Little China" before making Iron Fist... Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
The easy one that I've heard is why couldn't they at least match the choreography effort of Into the Badlands.
I have seen GotG 2 twice now. I really loved it. It wasn't as good as the first one, but that's not really a knock on this movie as the first one was so unique and fresh, it would have had trouble equaling its predecessor simply because the "Wow. This is different!" aspect would have been nearly impossible to replicate. But they handled it so well. They didn't overdo the use of Baby Groot which I was a little worried about. They used him just the right amount. They also didn't become caricatures of themselves. This wasn't a "Let's do the same thing as last time, but bigger and crazier!" thing like you see in so many comedies (Hangover 2 and 3). I am also really happy that the trailers didn't give away hardly anything about the actual plot and threat.
Luke Cage is getting S2 treatment and Jessica Jones S2 is being filmed right now. Rumor is Daredevil S3 starts filming later this year as well. The only one who we don't know about is Iron Fist although his season is super fresh so it's probably he's got a S2 coming too. Hopefully with a new showrunner and a better production staff.
