So apparently marvel has made Cap a hydra plant. I'm waiting for the twist, but even with that said this is a horrible idea for a lot of reasons. Chief of which is cap was made by a couple of Jewish men who were motivated to create him to create a contrast to the hate of nazi Germany. Now that guy is supposed to have been a nazi the whole time?
The whole time? Maybe not but maybe he was captured and went under some winter soldier like experiments?
From my understanding Marvel has said its really cap, and yes the whole time. Again I await the twist, but what the hell...
Cap being Hydra is just a slap in the face. There's gotta be a twist, but at this point... wrong move for Marvel. Are they running out of ideas for Cap and just throwing crap at the wall and see what sticks?
Horrible, horrible, horrible mistake by Marvel for letting that book get released. Just a terrible idea. I'm 100% certain this is just a gimmick, but it's a bad one. It's not clever, it's not fun, it's not interesting. It's just insulting and stupid. Soon it'll be revealed this isn't really Cap or he was mind controlled or this is an alternate universe, but still a stupid, stupid gimmick.
I believe the author was interviewed and he said, there is no trick, that's really him, and he's really been a Hydra agent all along. The fan reaction might make him and Marvel change that tune.
Oh there's no "might". This is a massive mistake. Marvel will assuredly fix this in a few months. Not only does it make zero sense after 60 years, but it really is insulting to the core of the character. It doesn't even make sense either. Why would Hydra recruit a skinny kid who was so unhealthy he couldn't even make it into the military in the 40s? Cap was created by two Jewish guys who used him as propaganda against a man/group of people who were slaughtering their peers and now he's one of them? Horrible. Comic sales have been down across the board from all companies, but Marvel was doing the best of all groups the last decade or so. They just shot themselves in the foot with this move.
I call BS, not on you but the author. I haven't seen people lose their ish this bad since Han didn't shoot first, and that was pre social media. The interwebs were in full rage mode yesterday over this. I bet the sales of book 2 plummet. The best analogy I read was saying "Thats like having Bruce Wayne retroactively hire the man who killed his parents".
Yeah it's just the stupidest gimmick they could come up with. Marvel made a huge mistake on a day when DC made more interesting and positive news on their comic side. Awful.
I suppose such twist can work if the guy hasn't stood for something so patriotic and ideal. Cap is just the wrong guy to do this to.
So one of the theories is that the same cosmic cube that gave cap his powers back has also been used to brain wash him. Ergo he thinks he is an agent of shield, probably cause zemo is behind it. And now cap will fight the rest of the marvel hero's as they try to save him...
It's got to be something like that. Not only is it stupid already, but literally how could he possibly be a Hydra agent really? He's spoiled how many Hydra plans? The leaders of Hydra have tried to kill him for how long? It makes no sense. He's got some sort of mind control thing going on, it's the only thing that makes any sense. Still stupid, but whatever. Marvel has been making all their good guys into bad guys lately.
Or into women or non white which is ridiculous as well. Instead of creating some new hero let's just throw away our current hero's and let women take their place. Like lady Thor or Asian hulk. Lacks creativity, and honestly just feels like pandering. I am not saying I don't want none white or female characters, I am saying make some original characters up not copy paste powers. Same with this thing. I feel like they were watching an NWO documentary and decided if Hogan can go bad so can cap.
I'm 100% with you. Marvel's ANAD was almost completely pandering. They made Captain America black, they made Thor a woman, and they made Hulk Asian. Pandering. I heard Sam was a good Cap, but that his comic tackled almost exclusively racial issues. Marvel has made some comics that fans relate to completely and feature new characters of different race and gender. Ms. Marvel has an enormous following with a young Muslim girl. Ultimate Spider-Man felt like pandering, but they turned Morales into a great character. Spider-Gwen is very popular...
Out of all of those I have very little problem with Sam Wilson becoming Captain America. To me that story made sense. Cap loses his powers and turns to his best friend to be take up the shield. Sam is a preexisting character who is still Sam, he just has changed his role in the world. I buy that. I haven't read those comics as I am trying to dig through pre secret wars stuff still, but have heard good things. Personally I thought the idea of leaving Cap unpowered and having him deal with that reality would have made for fine story telling. Not only would he be the man out of time, but he would now be the man without powers. The others feel forces though. For Amedeus who is already a super hero, why not develop a unique story for him to become more powerful? Or why not let Thor-Girl no be Thor, but just be Jane from jump who has the hammer cause she is worthy? I hear the Ultimates is good, and I love the character of the Blue Marvel. I want more of that and less race/sex changes just cause.
I haven't read a single Thor comic with Jane on principle. I'm sorry but the mere concept is flawed. How can she be Thor? Thor isn't a mantle, it's the dude's name! She can pick up the hammer, but that doesn't mean she takes the name too. Stupid. I've also heard that comic is the very definition of pandering to sexism and the feminist narrative. I don't mind a woman picking up the hammer, just do it organically and make her interesting.
In essence I think all of this really stems from a lack of diversity within the entertainment industry as a whole. When you have a monolithic group that is putting this all together you end up with this type of stuff.
DC has been doing the same thing as well. Like, in their last movie, the gave a psychotic torturing, murderer the Batman mantle (interesting twist) and they somehow did this weird crossover possession thing where Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh cinematic universe possessed Clark Kent.
