My. Brain. Most of the internet is saying Inception meets Matrix. That sounds AWESOME. I've also read that Marvel is using 3D with this movie to make the psychedelic bits pop even more. It might make me sick, but I think I'm going to go for it anyway. This looks really interesting to me.
He's American though? I didn't expect that accent coming out of Benedict Cumberbatch, it was almost instantly jarring, obvious, and distracting. Takes away his entire.. cool factor, special weight he has as an actor instantly. Like when Daniel Radcliffe does an American accent, it becomes comedy, and I think I've only ever seen him use it for comedy.
A lot of people have compared it to Doctor House actually. Strange is an American so I'm guessing they're trying to keep it comic-accurate. Honestly it wasn't distracting to me because I had no idea it was his voice. I thought it was someone else monologuing.
I'm not gonna lie, it was jarring, it was like a parody of an American accent, like when the worst possible American actor tries a British accent. Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Ben Affleck, Kevin Costner spring to mind immediately, as in they shouldn't even be attempting it. House works, I didn't even know he was British when I first saw him on that show, Cumberbatch is known for his awesome accent and voice, and changing it is..odd, for these brief lines it doesn't work for me, I had pictured him sounding in this like he usually does, but I guess that's mainly on me.
You're not the only one who noticed definitely. There's a lot of fans who were taken aback by that. I have the utmost faith in Cumberbatch though so I'm sure it'll sound better when you're in the movie itself.
I liked his accent. The trailer is awesome. I loved Dr. Strange growing up. His comic was always on the way outer fringe of the Marvel Universe. I'm pumped that they are going for that rather than reducing him to just another super hero.
Punisher just officially got his spin-off. Marvel will make a larger announcement later today! http://www.ew.com/article/2016/04/2...x?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter

I hate when marvel releases movies earlier than here in the states. I get on instagram and all I see is people posting bootleg clips of the movie already. And then on yahoo already released an article about the end credits scene of civil war. Gonna be a hard week to try to the avoid it all. Already have tickets to see the movie next saturday
Expected the Punisher series to happen. Marvel's Netflix universe is becoming a gold mine with quality TV. Hope they add a Blade or Moonknight series.
Civil War opened up in a bunch of markets this weekend to a little over 200 million... Damn. Still has to open in the US, China, Argentina, etc...
Marvel has creative control over Spidey (hallelujah!) http://www.slashfilm.com/spider-man-homecoming-creative-control/ And it seems RDJ is thankfully having trouble saying no to another $100m payday http://www.slashfilm.com/iron-man-4-possibility/
Just got back from Civil War, it was awesome. Enjoyed it a lot more than Avengers 2. Spiderman and Black Panther were the best parts in a movie filled with a lot of great scenes. Take notes DC. Would love to see a Black Panther vs Daredevil fight scene.
Guys this movie is incredible. I'd say it's on pae with all the best comic book movies of all time. It's up there with Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2. Right up in that same stratosphere. It's probably the best Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Spoiler: Okay here's my spoiler-y review. I'll list my top 10 favorites from it and if I can think of something I'll say something negative, but I'm not sure I can... 1. The plot- The plot of this movie was just incredibly strong. You truly have to come up with what side you agree with because in the end it's just a philosophical and ideological disagreement between the MCU's favorite heroes. The Winter Soldier still drives this trilogy plot forward though so while the scope of this movie is enormous, the plot is still driven by the same thing we've seen two movies in a row. 2. Characterizations- Everyone was not only true to their comic counterpart, but the all had proper motivations in the movie. Everyone. Black Panther wanted revenge. Spider-Man and Ant-Man wanted to fit in. Bucky is trying to escape. Iron Man is trying to make up for his mistakes.. .I mean it's all brilliant story telling. Brilliant. 3. Black Panther- I like him just slightly more than Spider-Man. Both of them are amazing, but Boseman brings amazing gravitas to this role. You hang on his words and some people left the theater feeling for him more than the other more established heroes. They also nailed his movements and there was amazing attention to detail on his character. Fantastic. 4. Spider-Man- You'll hear it all over the place, but Holland IS Spider-Man. He was just about perfect. There's not much else to be said for it that you won't hear elsewhere. 5. Everyone Gets Theirs- I touched on with the characterizations, but everyone gets something. An ensemble movie can so easily skew towards certain characters that it's not supposed to (it's a Cap film after all), but this one some how juggles everyone and does it the right way. Spidey, Falcon, Winter Soldier, etc. everyone has their moments not only to shine in action, but to grow. 6. Ant-Man- Someone is going to click on this who hasn't seen the movie, but I want to protect some of the cool parts: how f***ing cool was his bit in the airport scene? F***ing amazing. 7. Zemo- You'll probably hear he was a weak villain, but I disagree completely. I thought he was fantastic. His motivations are clear, he's clever and intimidating, and in the end he has his own reasons and motivations that fit his character. It's tremendous. Was he physically imposing? No I guess not, but he was still a pretty great baddie. 8. The Bro-Hate- The relationship between Falcon and Winter Soldier is phenomenal. I can't say enough about it. When you see it you'll get it. 9. Wanda/Vision and Cap/Agent 13- I love that the Russos aren't running away from relationships. Making Vision more human and giving him a love interest helps ground his really weird, fake person character. Giving him a love interest that stays true to the comics? F*** yes. Same for Cap/Agent 13 I mean if you think about how weird it is that he's kissing what would be the niece of the woman he loved... Kinda weird but still it works and it worked in the comics. I like that the Russos went for it. 10. Wrapping up the Trilogy- I love that they tied up the Winter Soldier story. We've seen the arch now from Cap and Winter Soldier through all three movies and in the end it wraps up completely. The ending isn't a happy one, but it's an ending to that story nonetheless. Fantastic. 11. Stakes- SPOILERS LAST CHANCE: no one dies, BUT there's still great stakes here. Cap, Wanda, Clint, Sam, and Black Widow are now fugitives and underground. Tony's life isn't in a great spot. Spidey is here. Black Panther and Wakanda are here. Of course Rhodey is half paralyzed. Bucky is frozen again... A common complaint about Marvel is that the movies are too soft and don't have enough at stake, but this is pretty damn strong movie that leaves things in a really tough and dark place. That's all I got. You'll hear people say it's overcrowded, but I don't agree at all. Sure there's more heroes, but their stories aren't vital, they're just introduced. This movie is easily 9/10 probably more.
Oh man. Just a couple more days for me. So far everyone I know that went to see it earlier said the same thing. My expectations are going sky high now
