Came in here to post about tonight's episode of Daredevil and realize i never said anything about the most recent Cap.

We'll get that out of the way first. Went opening weekend cause my son's favorite MCU character is hulk and this is the first MCU movie he's been old enough to see in theaters. Had to warn him ahead of time that we'd probably only get one Red Hulk scene at the end but he was still game.

Movie was fine. A movie that had multiple reshoots and half a dozen writers (probably more uncredited) is going to feel cobbled together and patchy. Connective tissue between characters and storylines definitely suffered as a result and it's clear where some additional footage was shoehorned in. Also a strange choice to make this film a direct sequel to two of Marvel's least popular/significant films. That felt like clearing up loose ends before the next phases.

That said, there was some cool stuff in there though. Wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews I read/heard leading up to the opening weekend. Mackie, Ford, and Esposito (small role) were good. Mackie had good chemistry with his understudy Ramirez. I mentioned this gripe earlier, but I really wish we could've gone into this not knowing the Hulk turn. Impossible in today's marketing, especially with Falcon not being a big enough draw to put a**** in seats. Cause how it built with Ford, had you not known what was going on with him until that moment... it would've been so much cooler. Ford showed up and it wasn't just a paycheck for him, wasn't sure based on him on the media tour.

Fight scenes were... ok. Definitely could've been better. For the flight scenes, I wish they would've spent some of that bloated budget on Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and begged him to come over and at least be an advisor for some of the sky fights.

    Cameo:
always glad to see Bucky. But he's a politician now? That can happen given his past?

I was more excited about Thunderbolts before going into this. Didn't change after seeing the movie either.

OK on to a scene better than the entire Cap movie:
If you've seen tonight's Daredevil, then you know who's back. If you don't, here's a spoiler tag

Season overall has been solid. Slower, less action than expected. Like where it's building. And to get these two back on screen together... worth it. long overdue.

This is an example of where they greatly benefitted from extra restructuring and rewrites, cause all involved basically said the first version of this season was not good.
