Does Carr take a shot to get at least a field goal going into the half. 1 min to do something.

Frustrating game no matter what. This team really doesn't have it right now.

Some are speculating that Waller is back abusing substances. Hope not. Hope the team is just struggling right now.

Four games in - basically 1/4 of the way. A look at the offense.

At 1-3, this is a pretty disastrous start. It's worth mentioning that their statistical performance has them trending in the middle of the pack in the NFL (say 15-20th). I have the Raiders trending at 7-10 for the season. Disappointing, to say the least.

    Backfield
-Carr has cleaned up and diversified his game a bit of late, but he's not making the throws we've seen him make in the past. Lots of miscommunications so far this season. He's on pace for 4400 yards and 26 TDs. He's also on pace for the second or third most sacks in his career.

The RB room is starting to pay off. Jacobs is on pace for 1800 yards from scrimmage. White and Bolden should add another three hundred.

    Receivers
Early returns on Adams are mixed but mostly positive. Hard to judge with Renfrow and Moreau both missing time and Waller seemingly not on the same page with Carr as he has been in the past. Hollins has been a revelation.

    OL? This is the story.
Miller - hasn't missed a snap. 2 false start penalties.
Parham. Rookie. 247 snaps. 1 holding call.
Eluemunor 189 snaps. Four penalties. Three of them holding.
    Munford - 151 snaps. Rookie. 2 penalties.
Bars - from practice sqad to playing to starting. 145 snaps. 1 penalty.
James - two starts bookend two games missed via concussion. 133 snaps. No penalties.
Simpson. 125 snaps. 1 penalty. Inactive week 4.
Cotton. Played week 1, started week 2, to the pine. 90 snaps.
Justin Herron - signed and had to play week 1. 17 snaps.
Barton. Shuffled on and off roster. 1 snap.

I'll get the sack/pressure numbers when PFF updates them. But with basically nine guys starting only four games into the season, that's not good. Maybe they're figuring things out, though, because they opened some beautiful holes last game.

This could be the season where we start slower than usual BUT finish well down the stretch. Matt Millen said on one of the pre-season broadcasts where we will not know about this team until about 5 games.

My thoughts was we would be 2-3 at that point but 1-4 isn't that far off.

I think Carr is trying to balance out the offense being so diversified. The defense has been uneven so far.

Kolton Miller 270 snaps, 2 penalties, 1 sack allowed, 63.9 PFF
    Parham 247 snaps, 2 penalties, 1 sack, 67.7 PFF
Eluemunor 189 snaps, 3 penalties, 2 sacks allowed, 53.4 PFF
    Munford 151 snaps, 3 penalties, 1 sack, 51.1 PFF
Bars 145 snaps, 2 penalties, 0 sacks allowed, 35.3 PFF
    James 133 snaps, 0, 0, 66.8 pFF
    Simpson 125 snaps, 1 penalty, 0 sacks, 63.6 PFF
    Cotton 90 snaps, 0, 0, 56.8 PFF
    Herron 17 snaps, 1 penalty, 0 sacks, 55.4
    Barton 1 snap, 0, 0, 60.0

That's mostly accurate. Doesn't include penalties that were not accepted. It's not pretty.

Today is huge for the boys both in the standings and mentally. The 3 losses to start the season took away all of our "it happens" type games. I think people writing the Raiders off though have not watched the games at all. We should of won all 3 games. When you loose by 6, 5 and 2 while playing some pretty bad ball in a few facets in each game it's easy to look and say we just as much lost the game as the other team won it. We didn't win it though and that is something we have struggled with in the past with finding ways to win when it's not going perfect.

Now, I for one have loved the play calling this year. Carr with each game has looked more mobile and comfortable both in and out of the pocket. I think the O'line has done a lot better than statistics have shown for them. They give Carr the protection but sometimes Carr sits on the ball to long or doesn't pick up the blitz package. One game, can't recall which, I thought every sack he took was on him. I think that is/was growing pains. We have had a few costly/dumb penalties but we are, I think anyway, so far behind what we normally do for penalties it is amazing. These guys aren't getting flagged like normal. That means we are playing smarter and the team is prepared. That is a winning mentality (finally). We have been trending upward with our play on both sides of the ball from what I have watched. Today's game could set us on a serious run or solidify our up and down season where we are fighting to get a respectable record.

I am hoping we go in and punch the chiefs in the mouth! Just win baby!

Our Point Differential is -4, which is better than 8 teams in the AFC. The Raiders have definitely not played well enough to be undefeated, as they haven't closed games. But they have played well enough to have a shot at every game. I don't know that we break through tonight, but there are some reasons to be hopeful.

Chandler Jones had two sacks in his only game against Mahomes.
Carr has averaged solid numbers: 24/39, 242 yards, 1.5 TDs, and 1.1 INT vs Chiefs.
Jacobs has averaged 62.5 yards rushing only 14 carries per game vs. the Chiefs.
Renfrow and Waller have combined to average 111 yards vs. Chiefs.

I think the Raiders keep it within 6, and I hope they pull it off.

We just have to finish games. We are so uneven at the moment. After the bye, we have an "easier" middle of the schedule. I'd like to see us capitalize on it.

Things aren't any better in Green Bay, Cincinnati, Los Angeles (Rams)... Looking for Silver (and Black) linings.

    Here's another silver lining...

Raiders (21.74 Sagarin Rating) finish out October with the Texans (in LV) (13.26) and Saints (17.66). They could end up being favored in both those games. Even if not, they're games the Raiders can - and really must - win. That would send them into November at 3-4.

Then they go to Jacksonville (18.02), play the Colts (21.00), and travel to Denver (21.57) and Seattle (13.08). Three of those games are games the Raiders should win. We could be looking at 6-5 by the end of November.

    Fighting chance for the playoffs.

Memo to Jacobs: play like hell and get that money (likely elsewhere)...

RBs are in such a tough spot in today's NFL. Careers are short, especially for bellcow backs. I love Jacobs, and I love how he's playing, but his market value is at $10.5M on Spotrac: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/las-vegas-raiders/josh-jacobs-29059/market-value/

Hard to see the Raiders going for that.

But, man, is it exciting to watch him work. Nick Chubb is the only RB outperforming him this season.
