    My thoughts:
    - surprised Robertson made it over Phillips.
    - Averett and Ya-Sin on the outside with Hobbs manning the slot.
    - Abram plays closer to the line with Harmon playing further out.
    - I like Bower and Koonce.
    - Webb is a gamer...can play the pass AND the run.
    - Mullen's injury played a part and we cannot wait on him to heal.
    - big plans for Ferrell?
    - Horsted is Christensen 2.0?
    - as a Bruin alum, happy for Brown.
    - Ziegler and McDaniel aren't messing around! Not tied to previous picks regardless of stature.

You have to treat these players by who they are, not where they were taken. So, if Leatherwood is gone and Ferrell is still there, that tells me something about what the team saw.

You're surprised about Robertson? I've been hoping he'll get it together for, what, three years now? He has looked lost on the field.

    Updated DL
*DE Maxx Crosby 925 snaps, 91.5 PFF, 8.6 Relentless
*DE Chandler Jones 824 snaps, 70.4 PFF, 8.8 Relentless

NT Johnathan Hankins 567 snaps, 47.5 PFF, 0.9 Relentless
DT Tyler Lancaster 319 snaps, 55.8 PFF, 0.3 Relentless
*DE Clelin Ferrell 261 snaps, 45.0 PFF, 5.9 Relentless
DT Damion Square 185 snaps, 44.7 PFF, 4.6 Relentless
DT Andrew Billings 72 snaps, 47.5 PFF, 0.7 Relentless*
DE Tashawn Bower - 68 snaps, 51.1 PFF, 4.4 Relentless
*DE Malcolm Koonce 48 snaps, 60.8 PFF, 12.5 Relentless
*DT Kendal Vickers 19 snaps, 35.1 PFF, n/a
DT Neil Farrell Jr. - Rookie

Is it surprising that Clelin Ferrell put the most heat on QBs other than our starters, who are both beasts, and Malcolm Koonce (who did it in limited snaps, so who knows what that looks like over a season's worth of rotational work)? PFF isn't kind to this group.

Phillips was the better of the two. Seasoned...physical tackler...special teams player too.

Not fully sold on the Robinson cut yet Turner and Johnson show potential.

    *Perryman 863 snaps, 80 targets, 114.1 PRWT, 8.9% missed tackles, 0.7 Relentless, 59.9 PFF
    Jayon Brown - 420 snaps, 25 targets, 94.5 PRWT, 6.8% missed tackles, 0.0 Relentless, 51.2 PFF
    *Deablo 296 snaps, 13 targets, 105.0 PRWT, 2.2% missed tackles, 0.3 Relentless, 64.6 PFF
    Darien Butler - Rookie
    Luke Masterson - Rookie

    - Sorted by snaps last season. It's not a strong unit on paper. Not at all. Brown had two solid seasons in Tennessee. In 2018 and 2019, he combined for 7 sacks, 2 INTs, 2 FF, 2 FR, 2 TDs, and 202 tackles. Butler and Masterson were both undrafted. Interesting.

    DBs - sorted by snaps
    FS Tre'von Moehrig 1152 snaps, 14-24, 181 yards, 2 td, 1 int, 92.5 PRWT, 72.5 PFF
    FS Duron Harmon 1072 snaps, 29-40, 393 yards, 2 td, 2 int, 99.3 PRWT, 58.3 PFF
    SS Johnathan Abram 954 snaps, 57-72, 483 yards, 5 td, 1 int, 112.0 PRWT, 56.9 PFF
    CB Nate Hobbs 837 snaps, 51-62, 399 yards, 1 td, 1 int, 92.1 PRWT, 79.1 PFF
    CB Anthony Averett 808 snaps, 56-101, 768 yards, 3 td, 3 int, 77.5 PRWT, 56.3 PFF
    CB Rock Ya-Sin 591 snaps, 24-45, 217 yards, 3 td, 0 int, 88.6 PRWT, 69.9 PFF
    SS Roderick Teamer 195 snaps, 13-22, 134 yards, 0 td, 0 int, 76.7 PRWT, 50.8 PFF
    CB Amik Robertson 137 snaps, 13-18, 145 yards, 3 td, 0 int, 135.4 PRWT, 37.2 PFF
    CB Sam Webb - Rookie
    SS Isaiah Pola-Mao - Rookie
-While PFF doesn't love a lot of these players, they're all (except Robertson) adequate. Hobbs, Moehrig, and Ya-Sin give them some star power. But look at Averett's numbers from last year. 101 passes thrown his way, only 3 TDs, and an excellent 77.5 PRWT. I think it's the deepest DB squad the Raiders have had in years.

    Some Special Teams News...
Renfrow will be back returning punts, but Ameer Abdullah will be on kickoff duty.

    Abdullah's career 25.4 average is excellent, but he's been on a downward trend, averaging 26.1 in 2018, 25.0 in 2019, 23.5 in 2020, and 22.3 in 2021.

That said, those numbers are all superior to what Jalen Richard (20.9 career average) and Tyron Johnson (19.5) have offered the Raiders the past few seasons.

It's been some time since the Raiders have had an explosive kickoff returner.

Some deep thinking. Here are my projections for the season for this division:
    KC 11-6
    LVR 9-8
    DEN 9-8
    LAC 9-8

So, can any of these teams take the Wild Card?
Why the Raiders can. Their defense should be better than last year, and their offense might become even better (all up to that line).
Why the Raider's won't - their schedule is the third hardest in the league.

Why the Broncos can. Adding Russell Wilson to a team that was so close so many times last year.
Why the Broncos won't - they were one of the worst special teams groups in the league last year.

Why the Chargers can. They're already a solid team, with some studs on both sides of the ball. They had the second best Pythagorean Win% in the division last year.
Why the Chargers won't - the division plays LA well, beating the Chargers 3 out of 4 times to end the Chargers' season.

It's a long season. I know. Of course, it all starts today. A win by the Raiders puts them in the driver's seat. A loss is brutal - starting out with a L, losing a game in the division, and giving their rivals a path to the playoffs.

9-8 is my thought too. I think we'll be competitive but will be on the outside looking in.

Checking in after the game one loss.

First, this loss is on Carr. He simply didn't make the passes he needed to the glairing two (for me) was Waller in the end zone where he threw behind him on an easy TD and the INT going to Renfrow where he floated it instead of throwing it AND it was behind hunter too.

second, The defense made some mistakes. We looked in chase mode on more than a few plays but they stepped up and kept the Chargers to 24 points. They didn't get the pressure I would of liked but I thought overall they showed up. I'm optimistic with these guys.

Third, Adams is fricken good. I think all our receivers looked good and got decent separation. Would of had bigger games if QB1 didnt underthrow so many passes IMO.

Fourth, I liked the play calling in this game. I think Josh and crew called a good game. They will get hammered for the failed reverse but if it had been successful he would be getting praised for being inventive. Unlike years past I didn't think we were predictable which I appreciated.

Lastly, this team can beat anyone. It will depend 100% on DC's ability to make the plays and have extended drives and put 7 on the board instead of 3. All in all, I think San Diego was just a little crisper than we were and we still had a chance to win that game. Next week will tell me a lot about the guys.

I followed online mostly, so I didn't get to see it. It seemed like a typical Raiders collapse. But then I watched the extended highlights. I think I agree with everything here.

Carr can't forcefeed guys and telegraph throws like this, and you're absolutely right - that miss on Waller was inexcusable.

    Here's a look at the o-line:
    Miller 58 snaps, 0 penalties, 1 sack, 59.9 PFF
    Simpson 58 snaps, 1 penalty, 0 sacks, 56.7 PFF
    James 58 snaps, 0 penalties, 0 sacks, 68.8 PFF
    Eluemunor 40 snaps, 0 penalties, 1 sack, 70.6 PFF
    Parham 35 snaps, 0 penalties, 0 sacks, 82.3 PFF
    Cotton 23 snaps, 0 penalties, 0 sacks, 67.6 PFF
    Munford 18 snaps, 1 penalty, 0 sacks, 45.2 PFF

I know Miller will bounce back. This has to be one of the best defensive fronts in terms of getting pressure on guys - Bosa and Mack? You won't see that every week. So, I'm hopeful about the o-line's ability to step up, give Carr better protection, and get him settled down in the pocket.

I think the O'line did a really good job in this game. I believe most of Carr's sacks was from him holding the ball to long and/or not having any awarness until too late. I thought they protected him well and we barely had any penalties on either side of the ball (except that BS call on the herbert slide). It felt like game rust at the QB1 spot. The line, the protection and the schemes against that rushing front (and will Mack play like that again? Im not sure.) they looked really good overall imo.

Ill be at the game next week which makes it really hard to see the small details but I think we will see a much better team (well, QB1) in this game. I think the loss to the chargers was good for us in the long run. We will see how they recover

Okay last Sunday was a long day for me with a lot of highs that ended with a serious low with the Raiders blowing that game. It was great to get my dad to a game at the new stadium with most of my siblings but ugh what a loss.

Anyway... Today is a new day. Today has to be the day we finally put the league on notice we are for real. We need a win!
