-I'm happy about this move. Solidifies the LB corps, meaning we have clearer needs to focus on - like the offensive line.

Many similiarities to Agholor here. He's a big Y/R guy who has posted solid numbers. In the three seasons prior to joing LV, Agholor totaled 43 games, 165 receptions (63% catch rate), 1867 yards, and 15 TDs. Ross comes in with 38 games, 147 receptions (56% catch rate), 2233 yards, and 14 TDs. He has two flags against him - low catch rate and age compared to Nellie. He also has two other question marks, having missed 8 games over the last two seasons and having dropped 13 passes in the past three. He does have a better passer rating when targeted than Agholor, by a good margin. I haven't heard financial details, but I like the move.

    Raiders working to trade Jackson.
Raiders meeting with Quinton Jefferson. I like it.

    Raiders will now choose:
    1.17
    2.48
    3.79
    3.80
Four of the top 80 selections. Let's go, boys.

    IN
    DL Solomon Thomas
-Thomas did good work early in his career, piling up 12 AV in 25 starts in his first two seasons in the NFL. He has graded 60+ in only one season in the NFL, according to PFF. On the bright side, he has a really impresive physical profile and is only 26. So, if he can return from injury and play where he is best suited - inside - he can be a run stuffer for the team.

    DT Quinton Jefferson
-As a DT, he gets decent pressure. He has solid quickness, gets his hands on passes, and has posted solid numbers the past three years on PFF - including 72.5 in 2019. He was a 3 technique to some success in Seattle.

You are not alone, man. This could be a great thing, but I have my reservations.

Jackson is older and there is some slippage. Wish it was higher but we got something out of it.

    Trench Warfare

Raiders retool their OL and DL.

    Current OL
    C Andre James
    OG Denzelle Good*/Simpson
    -Two years,
    OG Richie Incognito*/Cotton
    -One year, 2.6m, 1.1 guaranteed
    OT Kolton Miller
    OT Brandon Parker
-On the face of it, the Raiders have downgraded and saved cash. But James, Miller, Parker, Cotton, and Simpson are probably all trending upward. Good should hold things down while the Raiders find a longterm fix. And if Incognito is healthy, he's still very good. If not, they have two promising young players. I do expect them to take an OL or two early in the draft. I'm still looking at Notre Dame. Eichenberg and Hainsey could be in the mix.

    Current DL
    NT Hankins
    DT Hurst/Irving/Jefferson
    -1 year, $3.25m
    DE Ferrell/Thomas*
    -1 year, $5m
    DE Ngakoue/Crosby
-In the 4-3, the Raiders have some options. They have run stuffers in Hankins, Hurst, and Thomas. They have pass rushers in Irving, Ngakoue, and Crosby. And Ferrell could be the best of the bunch, with no real weaknesses.

    RB Kenyan Drake
    RB Theo Riddick
    TE Derek Carrier

Wondering if Richard is going to be moved. I don’t think adding Drake is a surprise. The money is a bit much, but the Raiders struggled to run the ball too much for a team with that offensive line. Jacobs and Drake could go close to 2000 yards rushing.

Richard should be moved... Maybe Riddick can do what he does at a lower pay. Drake can save Jacobs from wear and tear. More varied skillset.

Off the SI Raider Maven website:

Hondo, is there a free agent signing that Raider Nation is not giving enough attention to? Dale Jones

Nick Martin. He is an elite NFL center that was on a terrible offensive line. He was one of only seven NFL centers to give up one or fewer sacks in 2021. He was a steal for the Raiders.

I love seeing that. He's a really good pass blocker. His knock has been his run blocking. I trust Cable to work these guys into shape.

    OFFENSE

    QB A
13.5 QB: Carr, Mariota, Peterman, Sloter
-Top 10 QB, Top 3 Backup at present. They'll perhaps move Mariota, and that will hurt their depth, big time, but Carr will continue to be a steady performer as long as he's in the lineup.

    RB A
    13.5 RB: Jacobs/Drake
    08.0 RB2: Richard/Riddick
    09.5 FB: Ingold
-Both Jacobs and Drake disappointed in 2020. Perhaps some of that is usage. They combined for more than 500 rushes and 64 targets - nearly 600 touches. A competent receiver who is not as limited as Richard in the run game, Drake could be the best thing to happen to Jacobs in the only way that matters - for team success.

    WR D- (trending up)
    08.0 WR: Ruggs/Edwards
    07.5 WR: Brown/Doss
    09.0 WR: Renfrow/Jones
-The Raiders added a player who will replace Agholor for less than Agholor will make. That's a win. It will also allow Ruggs and Edwards a chance to develop into the solid starters they can both be. The position will be a little uneven, but I expect good things going into the second half of the season. They go four deep. They have the talent. They now have to make it happen.

    TE A
    14.5 TE: Waller
    08.0 TE: Moreau/Carrier
-The band is back together again. Waller will ball out. Moreau will have his chance to shine. Carrier returns to be a steady blocker, tough veteran presence, and he'll catch an occasional pass.

    OL D+
    04.0 OG: Simpson
    13.0 OG: Incognito/Cotton
    08.5 OT: Good/Parker
    11.5 OT: Miller
    08.0 C: Martin/James
-There will be question marks here, as the Raider pin their hopes (at present) upon one aging but once dominant starter coming off injury (Incognito) and trust in serious snaps from players in James, Cotton, Simpson, and Parker who have little experience playing at a high level. This is a position of draft need. I expect them to draft one OL early and another before round 6.
