Thoughts of the new Supes trailer? Krypto is a cool new addition. Outside of that, i miss Cavill.

    Elsewhere...
Anyone watch Penguin? Thought it was the best thing we've gotten from DC since MoS. Colin killed it!

I’ve never been a big Superman fan, I grew up a Batman fan, so I don’t seem to have the same reaction as most are having to that trailer. I thought it looked good, I thought for the first time in a long time Clark actually looked different enough from Superman that you could see how people wouldn’t know it was him, and I like Gunn, so I trust him. I love the Guardians trilogy, the 2nd Suicide Squad, and Peacemaker. I enjoyed that the trailer actually looked colorful and fun, and that it’s not just dark and gritty yet again.

As far as Penguin goes, I missed it when it was out, but I watched the first episode yesterday and thought it was fantastic. Farrell owns this role, he completely disappears into it. I also have liked Cristin Milioti for a long time, so I’m glad she’s in this. I loved the Reeves Batman movie, so this series feels right in line with that, I hope they’re able to use this universe for a bit as an alternative/alternate thing to the new Gunn stuff.

I liked the Superman trailer. I'm more of a Batman guy as well, but it really blows my mind how much DC struggles to make movies with a character like Superman. You've got a century of stories to pull from. Just makes no sense.

Hopefully they nail it. I'd like to see a strong DC Universe and a strong Marvel universe. No reason we can't get several good movies and shows from both universes a year.

Penguin was awesome. Really liked it.

Penguin was great. The thing I really loved about The Batman, which remained true in The Penguin, was the depiction of Gotham city. It actually feels like the Gotham city of the comics and not just Chicago or NY. I of course loved the Nolan Batman movies, but the city itself wasn't really a character in those movies. It's a huge bummer that The Batman 2 is taking so long, but if we've learned anything about superhero movies the last few years its to take quality over quickly-delivered mediocrity.

I thought the Superman trailer looked good. I too have always loved Batman and not really cared for Superman. I liked Cavill as Superman and enjoyed Man of Steel, but also like the brighter tone Gunn seems to be going far. I feel like there have been a lot of negative adaptions of Superman over the last decade or so, with Injustice being the most obvious. Superman became more of a bad guy as Batman became super popular again after the Nolan movies. The Superman/Batman dynamic is going to be the key to the new DC universe, just like how the Captain America/Iron Man relationship really took the MCU to the next level. Hopefully Gunn gets it right.
