If your a fan of Garth Ennis' work, it's great to see his characters come to life. I love the casting, especially Cassidy and the Saint of Killers.
hopefully we get to see Jesus lol...they made some acceptable changes but I want to see them push the envelope like Ennis
Screenrant had a set visit on JL and dropped a ton of tidbits. Amongst them: -Steppenwolf IS the villain for part one. -Batman will showcase his detective skills and will be a more "hopeful" Batman -BvS is as dark as the universe will get -Geoff Johns will have a huge role in the universe going forward
Even more! - Batman creates suits/equipment for the team including another version of his mecha-suit. - The plot is that the assembled JL has to find three Mother Boxes before Steppenwolf can. - The movie promises to be more light and fun. - Batman has a new Batmobile complete with missile launchers, machine guns, etc. - Dafoe is a mentor to Momoa's Aquaman. - Superman will return just like he did in the comics, but later in the movie after Bats has assembled the team. - Justice League is now a standalone movie instead of Part 1 and Part 2 meaning the Snyders are almost certainly out after this movie. - Filming has started, but Steppenwolf isn't cast yet. - Ben is still working on his Batman solo script it's not ready yet and may not make WB's production date. One tidbit that pissed me off: Snyder's wife, who is an executive producer and key in the storytelling, said that fans "don't like when you deconstruct their heroes so we went lighter". That's not even close to true. To deconstruct something, you have to first build something. We didn't have an emotional attachment to these characters because you didn't earn that so seeing them deconstructed meant nothing. All it did was turn them into a murderer and a jerk. I can't wait until these two are away from the property.
These characters withstood the tests of time, there is no need to modify or deconstruct them. That is the problem with non-comic industry movie execs, they just don't have any clue how to bring these heroes to life.
The Snyders bought way too much into their own hype. They were a cancer to the DCCU and are thankfully being removed.
Boom goes the dynamite... The formula for Comic Movie Success really isn't anything overtly complex or groundbreaking. It really is as simple as finding talented writers and film makers who love and understand the source material and allowing them to make the creative decisions. Those folks translate these time tested characters to film by holding true to their core, embracing the look and feel of comics, and it works. DC and Fox seem to learn all the wrong lessons from others success ( aka Nolan=YEAH MOAR DARKNESS) and never take the time to learn the characters.
Batman was really the only character they could have gotten away with Nolan's vision on. And even then, Nolan is arguably the greatest director of this generation (I wouldn't argue that, but many would), so when he deviates from the character's core, he's probably going to nail it anyway cause he's Nolan. Snyder isn't Nolan. Snyder is Michael Bay. So when Snyder starts switching the character up, it's going to suck because it's Snyder.
Batman vs Superman, ultimate cut is available now on iTunes. Just bought it. Can't wait to watch it. I'm in the minority, but I thought the original movie was awesome and everything I'm hearing is the ultimate cut is much better. We shall see.
What did you like about the movie? (I'm genuinely curious) As for the ultimate cut: I hated the theatrical cut and they want me to pay more money for 30 extra minutes? No thank you. I'm not falling for that.
I still haven't seen batman vs superman but might as well see the directors cut when I have the chance. And also I just recently seen justice League Flashpoint paradox animated movie. And man that was a good movie. Really enjoyed it. Hope they make that into a live action film.
You guys probably don't watch the CW DC TV shows but....... Flash is doing Flashpoint next season, Legends of Tomorrow is doing Justice Society, there will be a Superman on Supergirl, and Arrow..... well it'll still be Arrow.
Everything. The acting, the story line, the fighting. It's a great movie. Not sure why people have such a problem with it. Acting is phenomal. This Batman is a much darker and twisted Batman and Affleck played him perfectly. He really showed us a different side of this great hero. What I love about this Batman is he kind of was what Spider-Man was supposed to be in Spider-Man 3. He was so driven by revenge and anger it drove him insane and made him something he wasn't. He was becoming what he tried to stop and he realized that finally and did the right thing by saving Clark's mother. Cavill was excellent once again as Superman. He really identifies with the audience like no other actor who's played the role imo. He made Superman more realistic than anyone else has. The raw emotion he has for Martha his earth mother was beautiful even though he's not even human their relationship is no different than mine and my mom's relationship. Superman in these last two movies was more vulnerable than he's ever been and that's a good thing because it would be boring if Superman just kicked everyone's a**. He was trying to make the ultimate sacrifice and trying to make amends with Batman. They needed each other and it's a perfect story and they're perfect compliments to each other. Batman has the motivation, drive, equipment, and mental fortitude while Superman has the power. Lois was terrific as well. You can tell how much she cares about Clark. She doesn't care that he's from another planet. They do a great job showing the genuine love they have for one another. He goes out of his way to save her each time. She goes out of his way to protect him from all the naysayers in the film. To me it's a great storyline. Batman gets driven to his breaking point. He's lost everything. His parents, so many peop he loved and cared for died in Superman and Zod's fight. He's lost all perspective and is filled with anger and hate. Meanwhile Superman is in trying to convince the world that he's good for this planet. It makes people in this movie question everything they've ever believed in. They have to put all their faith in a savior who isn't even from this planet. How could they possibly do that about someone they know nothing about? Meanwhile Alfred is trying his best to convince Bruce that he should befriend Superman and fight his battles with him and not against him because he's not gonna win that fight. Last, but not least Jesse was incredible as Lex. He had an amazing portrayal. In that scene where he meets Bruce and Clark he comes off as very down to earth, charming, socially interactive and he manipulates the hell out of them. He does what any deranged villain would do. He takes the biggest threats to his plan and turns them against them by using people he loves and endangering their lives. He has a lot of Joker in him. Not too much he still is his own character, but that crazy, psychotic, sociopath that the Joker is and Lex is a similar type villain. Look at that scene where he talks to Superman about what he's done with his mother after throwing Lois off a building. He presents Clark with really no right choice. Either let your mother die or go against everything you believe in and kill a fellow superhero. It's absolutely brilliant. Can't talk about this epic showdown without showing the epic fight scenes between the two as well as the warehouse scene. Batman was so much more mobile and had a lot more spring in his step. As much as I love the Dark Knight trilogy the fight scenes were mediocre and that was pretty much the only flaw. A bit too realistic. This Batman was doing counter punches, elevating over the thugs, doing quick attacks, absolutely brutal punches, was absolutely vicious overall, and was so quick with his movements. Looks very similar to the combat in Arkham Knight which was sensational. I loved this movie. Absolutely loved it. 10/10 to me.
One of the best DC animated cartoons ever (The Red Hood might equal or beat it in my book). Knowing how good Flashpoint Paradox is, I'd pay to see that in a theater way before BM vs.SM.
Good to see another side of it. Interestingly everything that worked for you had the opposite effect on me. I won't argue the points though. You're entitled to your opinion and if you love the movie then all power to you. I'm glad you did because I didn't and I want my money back. To each their own!
Well I would recommend that if you know someone who purchased the extended cut I would recommend giving it a try. I can acknowledge that I could see why people had issues with the movie. A lot of scenes seem to be rushed, some holes in the story, some of the movie just seemed off. Unfortunately Warner Bros. made Snyder cut 30 minutes from the film because they didn't want a three hour film. This version addressed some of those issues at least in my eyes and from what I've seen from critics and some fans they seem to have the same view. Some still don't love it and that's fine, but there is a general consensus that the extended cut makes it at least a decent film.
I've heard that the extended cut clears up some of the key plot issues, but the plot to me was only half the problem. I've detailed a lot about why I disliked the movie so I won't get too into it again. No need. I also have a real issue with the idea of having to buy an extended cut at all. Snyder has now done that twice and I think that's not cool. He knows the restrictions on time. Good directors can make it work, but he insists on filming 4 hours of material and then parsing it down to a more manageable time (although usually still on the long side). We shouldn't have to spend extra money to get a great experience. I'll probably watch it at some point, but I'm just not a big fan of Snyder's vision for the DC universe.
