Rumored villain in Justice League 1: Steppenwolf. If you don't know who that is, me neither. The story will revolve around the three Mother Boxes and how Darkseid left them here 30,000 years ago after a war that involved Atlanteans, Greeks, and Man. Cyborg is made up of one of these boxes which is how he'll tie into the greater story.

If that was confusing to you, don't worry me too.

I know Steppenwolf, they sang that song "Magic Carpet Ride". Used it in the trailer for the movie "Go", one of the first independent type movies I ever saw, fun film. The Family Circus does ruin your morning comics. I'm sorry, I'm not really invested in the DC universe right now other than stand-alone Batman, Suicide Squad, Supergirl moving to the CW, that's pretty cool.

I consider myself a pretty big comic book guy, not huge but big enough. Who the hell is Steppenwolf?

You know, instead of throwing and screwing up Doomsday in a movie that didn't really need him, could have saved him for the first JL movie.

DC keeps digging their own grave deeper and deeper. They haven't built the credentials and fan-good-will to be putting Steppenwolf (who is apparently Darkseid's Uncle?) into the first JL movie.

I always thought he was just some Darkseid lackey.

You're 100% right though: they've built up no goodwill to take huge chances on plot points but here they go making something utterly confusing to the mainstream audience.

    Seriously, this is confusing.

The one interesting thing about Steppenwolf is he paves the path to include some godly figures/villains into the DCCU. He is Darkseid's Uncle but also commands his army. He is a master swordsman weilding an electric axe. Immortal, super strength, super speed, reflexes and all that usual stuff. Highly talented military leader.

I know how companies don't want to replicate what other similar companies have done because pride/ego? But DC should have totally done what Marvel did with their movies. The fans will forgive their copying if the movies are a success. Start off making a series of movies with the main Justice League members. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc. Justice League movie, preferrably with someone like Doomsday as the villain. And then continue with any sequels while introducing other JL movies. I like DC a lot more than Marvel and it hurts to see their DCCU stumble like this. And lets not even start with Zack freaking Snyder.

They just don't have the same vision as Marvel right now. Not only did Marvel build slowly through small scale movies, but they've got an overarching vision of what each "Phase" looks like and where they're going.

Snyder thinks he can just jump in and create a complicated woven world in one movie? I know Man of Steel was technically first, but it didn't really lend itself to a wider universe. Batman vs. Superman was the first movie to do it and it tried to do too much at once.

I actually think you could have made a Justice League movie right away with the classic lineup from the old DC animated show (Supes, Batman, WW, GL, and Flash). Have Martian Manhunter be the first antagonist but find out it's not his fault. He's lashing out because of the White Martians or some such thing. Basically adapt the first episode of that show. Most people know about Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. You give the movie a chance to establish GL and Flash while adapting MM. It's still big in scale as far as the world goes, but the story is nice and simple.

Not to mention stop with all the "dark" nonsense from Snyder. F***ing moron. Superman is not a "dark" character even in the slightest. He's the embodiment of perfection at least to our eyes. In his eyes he's just a normal guy which is what makes him a great character. F*** I hate Snyder!

There are a bunch of fan theories/ideas all over the Internet about how "they" would handle the DCCU and 90% of them are better than what we get.

The biggest issue seems to be Snyder. He wants to make everything DC dark and while DC is darker than Marvel, there's still some light to characters. Snyder is good at making big scale movies but he fails at storytelling. And with creating a multi movie universe, you need to be able to tell a story that ties everything together relatively well.

I hate to compare BvS and Civil War because one is the 2nd movie and the other is the 20th; but if Snyder was directing Civil War, he would have had Bucky, Capt and IM in a big fight with the other winter soldiers.

On top of that he'd have had the three of them brutally murder the Winter Soldiers and then Tony would probably murder Winter Soldier.

Snyder is good with visuals, but he's a horrible story teller. Awful. Truly I don't know how he got in this position and after Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman, I doni't know how he has a job. If there's one character who is not dark its Superman. I think of all the things I hate about Snyder-verse it's Superman...

You mean the part where Wonder Woman watches some youtube-like vids to introduce the Justice League? Vomit.

In the middle of an intense part of the story too. Let's just pause so WW can check her emails, watch some Youtube videos of heroes that Lex is keeping tabs on for some reason... Make sure you click on the graphic designs that Lex had made for each person.

It was nice of Lex to get Lexcorp's media department on that. I'm surprised he didn't develop some sort of theme song when you click on the icon.

Unless I've missed something that's just an idea right now. I'm pretty sure it's not official yet. Interesting idea I suppose but I find it strange DC/WB continues to plan movies even after their shaky reception.

So there was a test screening for Suicide Squad with normal people (not WB execs) and the early word is it is really, really good. People tweeting about being pleasantly surprised.

To be fair, we heard the same things from Batman vs. Superman. The screenings were handed out randomly to people attending Civil War so they're most likely comic fans.

I'm very skeptical of any movie that reshoots its whole third act. Fant4stic did it and look what happened there.

I hope it's good because it seems fun, but at the same time I hope it fails so that DC is forced to boot Snyder and his "vision" asap. I know he didn't direct this one, but its in his Snyderverse which is awful...

It's not the whole third act, is it? I know there were reshoots, but I also know how long those reshoots lasted. No way they could have refilmed a third of a movie in that amount of time.

The reshoots were more than two weeks which is always a bad sign. In a recent interview with Johns the guy that's now in charge of leading the film division he said he was in charge of a new direction on the last act of the movie. It was apparently a little too Snyder-y and very dour at the end of the movie and now it ends on a different note.
